I have no grandparents left, my last died when I was 27. Yet I know someone who is almost 30 and has all of her grandparents still living. Can't help but feel a little jealous.

About 6-8 I think, I've very little memory left of her, my Grannie . I never knew her husband nor my other set of grandparents they died before I was born.

Salene · 08/03/2020 21:44

Should of said my husband is 42 and his granddad is still alive.

StarUtopia · 08/03/2020 21:48
  1. I feel as though the only person who doesn't still have grandparents about!
Runnerduck34 · 08/03/2020 21:54

I was 35 when last GP ,my nan, died, was only really close to my grandma who died when I was 21. Grandads died: one before I was born, one when I was 5 and step grandad when I was 23

BadMoon · 08/03/2020 22:11

I was 8 when my last grandparent died. I never met my mum's parents.

My mum died when I was 4 and my dad when I was 22. Just me and my sister left. Luckily we had a wonderful auntie and a close network of family friends.

26 - I actually lost all three of the ones I ever had (mum's dad died before I was born) in a year.

DH had two grandparents when he was born and now still has one, at 35 - his grandmother is 103!!! We recently realised the pretty tragic fact that she's now been a widow for twice as long as she was married for.

I had my great grandmother alive til I was in my late 20s and still have 3 of my grandparents alive (I’m now 40yrs old). My husband is the same age and lost all his by the age of 30yrs.

Lemonslices · 08/03/2020 22:35

I was 18. She was the only grandparent I had. All my others died before I was born...
I think about her often.

thelibertine · 08/03/2020 22:48

I'm 40, and have 3 grandparents alive (aged 90, 86 and 80). I didn't lose my Gran who died until I was 37.

I consider myself really lucky and know that it's quite unusual.

I lost my maternal grandmother at 25. My dad’s mother died when I was 15. My mother’s father died when she was a baby and my Dad's father died when he was 8.

notacooldad · 08/03/2020 22:52

My nan died 3 years ago when I was 52.

Lausch95 · 08/03/2020 22:54

Paternal grandfather died before I was born.
Both grandmothers died when I was 6
Maternal grandfather died when I was 8

neverenoughwipes · 08/03/2020 22:56

I was 7 years old when my last grandparent died and I have always yearned for people from an older generation in my life, I think they can teach us a lot

Sewingbea · 08/03/2020 22:58

I was 45 when my grandmother died. She was 99. I adored her and miss her still, she was an exceptionally kind and loving woman. I'm very thankful that my DDs met her and will remember her.

nzborn · 08/03/2020 22:59

Someonesayroadtrip · 08/03/2020 23:00

I'm 36 and one still alive. All alive well into my 20s.

LuluJakey1 · 08/03/2020 23:00

7, 12, 24, 26.

Wigeon · 08/03/2020 23:02

I was 23 - my maternal grandparents died within 3 weeks of each other, in their 80s.

DH is 40 and still has one grandmother - aged 108 and 10 months!

anonymousLangFan · 08/03/2020 23:05

I'm 44 and I still have two grandparents left. They're 94.

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2020 23:18

I’m 35 and still have all of my grandparents.

Whatishappening9876 · 08/03/2020 23:25

21 when last grandparent died. Now 29, lost my dad when I was 27.

thegcatsmother · 09/03/2020 00:48

I was 40, and she died on my 20th wedding anniversary. It's a bittersweet day now.

Dh was mid 40s when his last grandparent died, and she was late 90s.

I lost my paternal grandparents when I was 25. They were both in their late 60s and died within six months of each other.

My maternal grandmother was 88 when she died and I was 42. And it destroyed me as I adored her. My paternal grandfather died just over a year later when I was 43 and he was just short of 98.
