I have no grandparents left, my last died when I was 27. Yet I know someone who is almost 30 and has all of her grandparents still living. Can't help but feel a little jealous.

  1. I miss them dearly and wish they could have met my children.
ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 08/03/2020 10:10

I was 17. Lost my mum a year later, and my dad four years later.

2020runner · 08/03/2020 10:11

  1. Had all four until I was 21. Very, very lucky.
20Newnames · 08/03/2020 10:11

Valkadin · 08/03/2020 10:12

13, my Mother was no spring chicken when she had me.

Bridecilla · 08/03/2020 10:12

I was 8. Other 3 were dead before I was born

Allmyfavouritepeople · 08/03/2020 10:12

I never knew 2 to start with as they died young. 1 died when I was 8 so I had a very strong attachment to my remaining Grandma and miss her terribly. She was my best friend.

TreeLinedMotorway · 08/03/2020 10:13

I was nearly 40. My mum was 20 when I was born. My husband was in his 40s - two of his grandparents lived until their v late nineties.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 08/03/2020 10:13
  1. Two dies several decades before I was born, one when I was 6.
HeronLanyon · 08/03/2020 10:13

Lost my last when around 18 - younger child of youngest/younger child parents, so many cousins in family were into late 20s/30s. Really wish I had had them longer and closer (different continent).

megletthesecond · 08/03/2020 10:13
  1. Feels really young.

  1. Never knew one, last one died 4 years ago.
Aworldofmyown · 08/03/2020 10:14

I'm 41 and still have one grandparent alive. She is frail now though. 😔

SouthWestmom · 08/03/2020 10:14

44 and 40 when I lost my grandparents - a lot younger when my dads parents died (never met one of them as he died early). My dad died when I was a child though so my grandparents were very much in his role.

user49er · 08/03/2020 10:14

None... only 1 left when my mum n dad got married.. she died before I was born- big families on both sides tho my mum was youngest of 10! So lots of aunties n uncles....

mynameiscalypso · 08/03/2020 10:14

I'm 36 and have one left; DH is 35 and has two. None of mine died until I was mid-twenties for which I am very grateful.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 08/03/2020 10:15

I was four.

Two had died before I was born and I have very hazy memories of the other two who both died when I was four

KiddingMyself · 08/03/2020 10:16

35, 2018. First was when I was 18. I knew 2 great-grandparents.

Batfinklestein · 08/03/2020 10:17

One on my Mum’s side had already died before I was born. The second on that side died when I was six months old, which must have been such a tough time for my Mum.
On my Dad’s side one died when I was 10, and the other when I was 28. It used to make me feel a bit sad.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/03/2020 10:17

Tbh I’d lost both my parents and a teenage cousin by the time I was 20, yes losing a grandparent is sad but I was probably a bit hardened to death by that point. It wasn’t tragic to me
