My daughter has just washed her hair and the bottom of the shower is covered- do lice actually come out like this? Grossed out and scratches scalp.

You need to check her head. I don’t know much about nits but if she has an infestation this bad I would have expected you to have noticed it!

TrentBridge · 20/02/2020 21:32

Well if she's crawling then yes it could look like that, sorry! Nits are just grim, sympathies

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/02/2020 21:32

Can’t see from the photo but unless she’s absolutely crawling, I doubt it.

Yeah, definitely check her hair. If that's lice then that is a particularly bad infestation.

thenightsky · 20/02/2020 21:33

My sink looked like that when I combed out DS and DD. Not sure they'd fall out on their own as they cling on if they haven't been killed by chemicals.

LooseleafTea · 20/02/2020 21:33

That would be a serious infestation if they are coming out in those numbers - it Would be very easy to check !

LooseleafTea · 20/02/2020 21:34

You don’t need chemicals as conditioner and a nit comb every 2 or 3 days deals with it firmly

Teaandcrisps · 20/02/2020 21:35

I cant see any legs

How old is she? Could be sand?

Sagradafamiliar · 20/02/2020 21:36

Squish one between your thumbnails to see if they're headlice. Can't tell from the pic but yes they can wash out, unlike the nits (eggs) which are glued on to the hair shaft.

Teaandcrisps · 20/02/2020 21:38

Shes 12

Actually it doesn't look like headlice, the bits are all different sizes. Sometimes minging dark stuff can come out of squeezy bath toys!

NemophilistRebel · 20/02/2020 21:39

Has she just had a really dirty day? I’m sure it wouldn’t occur like that

She’d be in agony with itching

Crunchymum · 20/02/2020 21:42

Nits don't fall out of your hair in the shower Shock

Itwasntme1 · 20/02/2020 21:43

Looks too big to be head lice?

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/02/2020 21:44

Jesus, she'd have to be riddled! The lice could be all different sizes. You need to pick up a bit one and get a good look, and Google image a head louse. I found 1 on ds, googled and co firmed that's what it was.

BarbarAnna · 20/02/2020 21:45

Bastard nits do not wash out in the shower in my experience. They cling on for dear life! Unless there is a chance she has used a not treatment that has killed them?

darktriad · 20/02/2020 21:46

could it be limescale? I get that a lot in my bath/shower (live in a hard water area)

ThanosSavedMe · 20/02/2020 21:48

My dd used to get them really bad. Never affected her at all. If I get even one my whole head feels like it’s crawling.

Does she do her own hair each day? If so, she may well be riddled with them. If you do her hair, unless you have poor eyesight I would think you would have seen them.

Only way to tell is to get out the conditioner and the nitty gritty comb. Good luck

Mskatonic · 20/02/2020 21:48

Has she used some sort of body scrub with bits in? Lice would not wash off like that!

AnuvvaMuvva · 20/02/2020 21:50

Get her to scratch at her scalp while she's bent/kneeling over a piece of white paper.

My son did that and you could hear them dropping out! 😲

TreesSandSea · 20/02/2020 21:50

Have you looked at her head?

AngelOfDeathNix · 20/02/2020 21:52

Go and check her head, hard to tell on a photo!

LangittleClegabbage · 20/02/2020 21:52

Please check her head and report back.... I can’t bear the suspense!
