Mine are grown up now.

I hope you mean your children and not your head lice!

OP if they are head lice then have you checked your daughter's hair recently? They still need checking at that age - at school, girls that age will hug each other and lice are easily spread and breed quickly. If they are lice she's had them for years or months.

Hollyhobbi · 21/02/2020 00:37

OP what colour is your dds hair? My two girls were unfortunate in that their hair was primarily blond but with darker nearly brown strands. The fecking eggs were so hard to see and the lice seemed to hide in the darker bits. My niece has jet black hair so the eggs were very easy to see

Thanks so much @FatKate advice noted and hubby has confirmed didn't see any movement just bits. An awful lot of bits. I think it must be nits because they're all the same size.

Have been able to cope with all sorts on this parenting journey, but this...
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

OP - you don't appear to actually be reading the responses here. Numerous posters have pointed out that this is not a hygiene issue yet you're still accusing your DD of not washing her hair properly.

I hope you start reading the responses because you're also going to need to treat yourself for nits in the morning if you're really going to sleep next to your DD.

Weird thread.

happymummy12345 · 21/02/2020 00:53

I agree op seems very immature.

JustIgnoreTheMoanyCow · 21/02/2020 00:57

Don't think this thread is real. But on the off chance it is, grow the fuck up and stop acting like a child with the ewwww Hmm yes headlice is not nice but it's actually really common and can be easily treated so no need to sound so hysterical.

PointlessUsername · 21/02/2020 01:11

This is not a real thread, surely?.

How could anyone not notice a nit infestation so bad that the nits are actually falling from the DD's head.

Only a few days of half term left to get them gone ,before she is back at school and anyone else notices, poor dd.

MummySharn · 21/02/2020 01:16

I hope this isn’t real!. If that is nits then your DD must’ve had them for ages. She must be so uncomfortable bless her. Get her a nitty gritty comb and full marks solution first thing tomorrow and sort it out. Cleaning has nothing to do with nits, so having nits will not make her clean more.

PickleMyPepper · 21/02/2020 01:26

OP, you sound pathetic. So she's got headlice? And?
Get a grip.

Don't go lecturing her about cleanliness and washing and calling her gross.
Talk about giving the poor kid a complex.
You can't blame her alone, her head must be riddled for them to be just falling out in the shower like that - some of the blame lands at your feet.

Buy a nitty gritty comb, some full marks and a industrial sized bottle of conditioner.
Follow the instructions on the full marks bottle, give it a comb, wash it out.
Conditioner, more combing, more washing. Done.

LonginesPrime · 21/02/2020 01:29

hubby has confirmed didn't see any movement just bits

OP, they don't look like lice and from what you've said, they don't sound like lice either.

And lice wouldn't just fall out with water - you need to comb them out or use chemicals so it's odd they're just sitting in your bath.

Has she been near a beach? It looks like sand or similar.

PickleMyPepper · 21/02/2020 01:30

Actually, through reading the replies, the likelihood of it being head lice is very small.
So before giving the girl a complex, check her head properly, pull out one of the flecks and see if it's moving or not.

Check the nape of her neck and behind the ears (as that's where they like to congregate).
Check strands of hair, that's where they lay the eggs. The eggs will be 'glued' to the strand so you'll need to actually pull them off.
Neither the nit (egg) nor the louse will just fall out.

MoltonSilver · 21/02/2020 01:47

This is the strangest thread I've seen in a while so I'm going to respond to it with the kind of advice it deserves.

When you get up on the morning you should find a clippers and everyone in the house should be shaved completely bald. It's very important that you don't forget the eyebrows. The family should then leave the house and set fire to it on the way out. It's the only way to eradicate the bits. Your daughter should henceforth wear a placard with the word unclean.

MashedSpud · 21/02/2020 01:52

They’ll be clinging to your pubes by the morning op. Swinging to and fro like monkeys having a party at the zoo.

INeedNewShoes · 21/02/2020 01:57

This is the strangest thread I've seen in a while so I'm going to respond to it with the kind of advice it deserves.

Be careful @MoltonSilver. It wouldn't be massively surprising if the OP followed your advice.

VenusTiger · 21/02/2020 02:10

Such a strange thread, as though one of the DD's siblings has written it - you've given birth three times but keep "ewww"ing at the thought (still not confirmed) of some lice! You're supposed to play these things down not vice versa, you're a parent! (Aren't you?)
Also, why have you ignored most of the posts?

VenusTiger · 21/02/2020 02:12

Okay, bit presumptuous to assume you've given birth, but surely as a parent you've dealt with worse than some tiny lice?!

dementedpixie · 21/02/2020 07:51

Lice wouldn't all be the same size. I dont think its lice but you arent actually reading the responses saying that.

dementedpixie · 21/02/2020 07:52

If she has had PE on astroturf then it could be rubber crumb

coconuttelegraph · 21/02/2020 08:02

Stop with all the ewwww-ing, you're making yourself sound stupid but frankly if it is nits and you didn't notice your parenting isn't up to scratch (see what I did there Grin) . How could you not have noticed? Did the nits have a meeting and decide to jump out in the shower rather than on bedding

dementedpixie · 21/02/2020 08:04

Lice dont randomly leave the head for no reason. Did they have a suicide pact?

BrutusMcDogface · 21/02/2020 08:06

If the bits aren’t moving, they can’t be headlice.......Hmm

diddl · 21/02/2020 08:37

Did you actually get one out of the shower to see if it's headlice?

If your daughter hasn't been washing her hair, is it dirt?

My daughter had them once.

School found one in her hair, but the treatment unstuck quite a few eggs!

BlueThursday · 21/02/2020 08:39

Given the filth round that plug hole the OP has a cheek to criticise get daughter’s hygiene

recordbox · 21/02/2020 08:47

I did point out last night it was probably loosened pieces from the plug hole.
