The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

Well, good news that yoloDD is coming home soon, the sooner the better I'm sure for you. Although now you're going to have to do some panic buying to get some supplies in!

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 21:51

Wow, this is really getting serious so quickly.... I don’t know what to say.

So happy that she is coming home though (I know you will find a way!!)

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 14/03/2020 22:08

Well, we think she is coming home - no ski lifts, no ski business, therefore no employment I guess. But no confirmation...

I really do feel for everyone who works in care, health, other essential services, and I am really pissed off that other countries are taking serious measures and we are just told to wash our hands...

CleansUpPenguinPoo · 14/03/2020 22:29

You're forgetting while singing happy birthday twice. No other country has given these totally rubbish super practical instructions.

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 23:03

And having the prime minister showing us how to do it!! Yolo, I think we really are the lucky ones!!! Smile

While we were on holiday our DC were incredibly worried about us and I can see why. You want your nearest and dearest within reach at times like this.
Thanksto anyone whose loved ones are far away.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 08:48

French ski resorts officially closed. Really stupid timing, yesterday was changeover day so there are thousands of new holiday makers just arrived. She's at work at the mo, so waiting to see what happens next.

PenguinOrHippo · 15/03/2020 09:15

Oh Yolo, I was so convinced she would be making her way home by now Flowers.

I remember when the Iceland volcano erupted (I was still working). We had some staff stuck in various parts of Europe and it was an absolute mess with flights not going and trains being fully booked. The one team that made it home was the Scandinavian team. They found a car rental two hours (train) from Stockholm, managed to get a car they could rent and then drop off in the UK and pre-booked a Eurotunnel slot - they just about managed to get back.

I know the current situation is completely different, just putting it out there as an idea to explore if things change for the worse in terms of travel.... big hug!

I’ve just sign up in my village for shopping and collecting prescriptions etc for the elderly.

We haven’t had WFH initiative yet but am hoping work will be flexible around me being able to help with errands. I can always catch up in evenings. I think we all need to be flexible to keep those mor vulnerable as safe as possible.

I took my elderly mother shopping yesterday so she could ‘Show me’ the brands and foods and alternatives they like. They don’t like a lot of the known brand staple foods as declare them too salty or sweet. Love her !

My children abroad. And for one I’d need to go via USA so that’s a no go. Does make me feel nervous.

APenquinIsCuttingthegrass · 15/03/2020 09:28

Oh i shoukd add parents live very close to me and I see them almost daily Grin but I’m not trusted with my initiative for their shopping without this initial induction process should enforced isolation be necessary.

7Penguins · 15/03/2020 09:36

Penquin standards must be maintained especially in times of adversity!
I won’t be ticking the ‘agree to substitute’ box on online orders even now. Grin

Assuming I can place an order ofc. Luckily the stomach bug prevents me from eating, so I’m okay.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 09:56

She's booked on a flight for Wednesday.

PenguinOrHippo · 15/03/2020 10:05

Brilliant news Yolo!!

7Penguins · 15/03/2020 10:11

Very pleased for you, yolo!
Time to, ahem, stock up on her favourite food and drinks.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 15/03/2020 13:10

Great news, yolo.

Easyjet have just cancelled my flights for the duration. I can't get a refund but can change them - to what, they don't say. I only need to go to one place.

I know first priorities are people's health, and rightly, but it is really, really frustrating not being able to get out and live a normal life.

DH is quite happy as I am letting him drink wine on a weekday 😂😂😂

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 16:32

fleas we had the same with sleazyjet, we've just changed our France tickets to a week in Porto in October. Working on the theory that if the world is still doomed we will just change them again. More expensive than previously, but no charge for changing. Got airport parking fees back, not sure yet whether we will get hotel money back but we only paid half anyway.

Thinking our Antwerp trip early April is out the window too. And no idea what will happen to the wedding in Tuscany in June (not ours).

And thinking more broadly around that, all these poor people with travel/hospitality jobs...

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 15/03/2020 16:56

I feel very sorry for the people whose jobs are under threat. A lot of people are going to be affected even if they don't get ill. Very difficult times for people, this is when communities need to support each other.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 18:00

We are on p.40, who's going to start the next Robbing Butcher thread?

WaddiMiss · 15/03/2020 18:40

Hey ladies i found you again! I havent been on mumsnet much recently.

How are we all? Its all abit surreal at the moment!

Corna has not found us yet despite patients coughing and sneezing on me and stealing my pen!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 19:19

7Penguins · 15/03/2020 19:38

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 15/03/2020 19:43
