The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

TheMustressMhor · 08/02/2020 10:58

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

I love bantams. Many years ago I had quite a few, they roosted in the stable rafters and roamed freely around the farmyard. Because I couldn’t sex chicks (and was far too softhearted to dispatch the males), they proliferated.
Females get broody at the drop of a hat.... I think the record was several broods with 46 chicks found in various barns one morning. Needless to say I had to find homes for as many as possible 😀
I loved the tiddly little ‘practicing’ eggs they produced when they first started laying, but eventually it got to the point where I had so many eggs I couldn’t even give them away!
Those were the days 🙂

strawberry that sounds lovely!

Not currently thriving with the lack of any planning for corona, still dont know whether we can go see DD1 in 2 weeks (which is important as I may have to Buy Stuff). Had DD2 home today with bad cold, but she managed to come out on a very bracing walk with me and the dog. Wish her firm would say WFH but not happening yet.

raising a glass to the absent hostess of this thread Wine and all of you lovely radiators!

GracefulHippo · 11/03/2020 22:02

Love the chicken pictures and the thought of fresh eggs, so lovely!!

Yolo, it must be so hard with your DD abroad.

I find the whole corona thing quite awful. Mr Hippo sent me this (link below), thought it was quite funny - from Yes Minister....

Big Wine for our absent hostess indeed!

GracefulHippo · 11/03/2020 22:04

And to all you radiators off course Wine. Love that expression

yolofish · 11/03/2020 22:06

hippo thank you. She's fine, it's just the can we go see her/can she get home if it all goes tits up which is worrying. The sprained ankle has not prevented her from going to some sort of apres thing tody - ghastly screeechy insta post with people dancing in the snow! And someone has 'lent' her some cocodamol Grin

GracefulHippo · 11/03/2020 22:14

Oh Yolo, it does sound like she is having the most amazing time!! Smile

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/03/2020 22:45

Thank Mr Hippo for that brilliant clip, my favourite comedy series ever! Cheers to radiators, down with drains, here's to absent friends and may they be restored to us soon with tales of the Robbing Butcher and his square sausage. (That sounded a bit oo-er missusBlush)

Night all!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 11/03/2020 23:00

I've not been fussed about Corona but maybe I should be now. Thanks for your Hen pics Yolo!

Night to you also my dear hostess Wine x

7Worfs · 12/03/2020 07:01

Good morning, all who are here and all who should be here! Brew

I’ve completed all dental work needed until June, phew.
Not much happening today - HV visit and me coughing in my elbow. It’s not corona as I have no fever.

Hope everyone has a thriving day!

7Worfs · 12/03/2020 07:11

Just catching up with the news, COBRA meeting today to make decisions on schools closure, working from home etc.

Keeping my fingers crossed for WFH for all of us and your daughter, yolo!

APenquinIsCuttingthegrass · 12/03/2020 07:18

Trump has banned flights from Europe from Friday. Not UK or Ireland though. That’s a stance he’s taken

Wonder what will come out of Cobra meeting. And if they close schools etc, how do medical and emergency professionals work? With no hospital or ambulance staff or police? If they’re looking after children.

PenguinOrHippo · 12/03/2020 07:44

Good morning

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 08:29

Good morning. I have to brave supermarket shopping today, I wonder will there be hordes looking at the empty loo roll shelves?

7Penguins · 12/03/2020 08:48

Bah, I just received an email from Sainsbury’s about missing items from today’s delivery - bread, peanut butter, spaghetti, dishwasher tablets Angry

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 08:50

No dishwasher tablets is an absolute tragedy, and surely shows what a travesty the govt idea that supermarkets will be able to deliver to virus-hit homes actually is.

7Penguins · 12/03/2020 08:53
Blush
PenguinOrHippo · 12/03/2020 09:06

Oh dear, that is bad, so sorry 7. Dishwasher tablets are essential Sad.

BigGirlHippo is supposed to go on a school trip abroad. I am not that worried for her safety (it seems that the virus is kind to young ones), but I worry about travel restrictions... she is 11 😳, so not keen to have her without her parents in another country.

Yolo, hope you get some clarity regarding your visit to your DD soon

7Penguins · 12/03/2020 09:13

Stop pulling my leg about the dishwasher tablets Blush
But I really don’t like manual washing.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 12/03/2020 09:28

Morning darlin's!

Hope we are all feeling bright and cheery! Keep watching this space, something wonderful is coming soon....

PenguinOrHippo · 12/03/2020 09:53

7 , I was being serious Blush. I absolutely hate it when I am out of dishwasher tablets.... washing up is one chore I just am so happy not to do

LaMarschallin · 12/03/2020 09:54

Mischief, I see you under that strap-on beak, flippers and dinner jacket Smile
And may I still call you "Mischief" as "MiPhf" just sounds like talking with your mouth full (of fish)?

Hope we are all feeling bright and cheery! Keep watching this space, something wonderful is coming soon....

Ooh!

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 12/03/2020 10:09

You may, LaMar, in fact please do!

PenguinOrHippo · 12/03/2020 10:30

Hoping for something good to happen, or at least exciting. The day is quite grim with all awful news

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 12/03/2020 10:42

Just back from large-ish supermarket, small town with population of 14,500.

No loo roll, very little kitchen towel. No handwash, no hand gel, very little soap. No antibac wipes for bathroom/kitchen although I found a stash of floor wipes behind a pillar which I am sure are exactly the same. No disinfectant.

I did however manage to stock up on Wine and dishie tabs (sorry 7, shall we all send you couple til you can source some elsewhere? Hope you like the casual use of 'source from' in that irritating kind of TV presenter way?)

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 12/03/2020 11:24

We are officially self isolating and awaiting test results, (theoretical risk of infection rather than actual known contact) so we are stuck if we run out of anything. I'm a bit of a haphazard shopper so I haven't planned at all well but we are getting by on the stuff I had in before SI.

Is it awful to say I felt happier shopping in Waitrose as (a) it's much quieter so easier to stay away from people and (b) I feel more confident about standards of awareness and hygiene amongst fellow shoppers?
