The Robbing Butcher - Bemused by the Patio at FrogMhor Cottage

What next for the Robbing Butcher?

Will he wander past Mhor Cottage several times a day so that he can keep an eye on the progress of the patio?

Will Mr. Mhor's measurements turn out to be wrong? And will Mustress Mhor and her DH have too many SLABS as a result?

If they do, what will they do with them?

Will the eggs be dippy tomorrow?

A small sherry? Is there such a thing?

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 14/03/2020 12:39

Ok ( grabs mop , bucket and shopping list!)
Better get it spruced up !

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 12:44

I know FOR A FACT that TheMustress is on the Robbing Butcher's case. She is very busy with it, hence her purely temporary absence. You can follow her exploits here (can't do clever links)

I'm minding the shop, so to speak, feeding the cats etc.

Not touching the sherry, no no, dear me no.

Baby and I have either food poisoning or some kind of stomach bug. I’m feeling dreadful. He seems okay but is sick a lot. Mountains of laundry now.

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 13:34

7 , something similar has gone around central and west London schools, tummy problems (vomiting, ache and/or or diarrhoea), head aches and generally feeling awful. Hope you too are better soon x

7Penguins · 14/03/2020 13:41

Thanks, Hippo! It’s strange, no fever but feeling woolly and weak. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 13:49

Sounds like what my DC’s had last week 7 , gastrointestinal symptoms, feeling dizzy and head achy, but no temperature. LittleHippo was feeling awful for three days. I tried to take her back to school on the third day, but she was in tears. Bumped into the headmaster who said she looked fine and “should be in school”. Have to admit, once he disappeared into his office, I took her hand and we legged it....

< looking around anxiously >

It was totally the right call, she was fine the day after, but then LittleBoyHippo was feeling awful and was off on Friday. I had several overnight WhatsApps from mums wondering if any other children had some awful tummy bug and no temp. We got away lightly...

7Penguins · 14/03/2020 14:13

Cake for the Hippo household

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 14:14

More like 🥂that it is over !!!!

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 14:14

But I’ll have the Cake as well, thank you Grin

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 14:37

I am most definitely not thriving. My venture into online shopping has been most disappointing. There are no ordinary tinned tomatoes to be had.

This was my very first Coronavirus prediction, that tinned tomatoes would be the first thing to go because they all come from Italy. And I was right.

We are now down to the fancy mucked about tins with garlic, and 'erbs and suchlike. Soon they will be gone too.

We're all doomed...

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 14:42

So preoccupied am I with my own woes that I forgot to offer sympathy to 7 and Hippo.

It's bad enough feeling poorly yourself but even worse when you also have to look after children (who can be remarkably ungrateful and unappreciative in these circs).

Definitely CakeWineThanksGinand whatever else gets you through the day.

Some 💤 I imagine!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 14/03/2020 16:09

much sympathy Wine etc for those of you coping with poorly children and not feeling great yourself. And for fleas with the mucked up tomatoes.

DD1 expecting to be sent home from French Alps shortly; bookings down, all Swiss ski resorts - which she can ski to - closed. France can only be a matter of time. She reckons she's already had Covid 19, but she can be a drama llama so who knows...

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 16:37

If she's had it and recovered that can only be good can't it yolo? It's such a worry when you have DC out and about in the world.

7Penguins · 14/03/2020 16:41

Mischief lack of ordinary tomato tins is a serious matter.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 14/03/2020 16:48

Here's a photo of Willis, a glass of red wine, and the poncey middle class toaster which is 30 years old and has never gone wrong - that's a stupid thing to say isnt it?!

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 17:19

It's bloody miraculous is what it is, yolo. Mine didn't fare so well but we are an exceptionally clumsy family. We are on No 2 now, here's hoping.

Willis is a very handsome cat. And he knows it.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 14/03/2020 17:24

I bought it (the toaster, not Willis) as a valentines present for DH 30 years ago, when we were living in a complete wreck of a house... (like no floorboards or plaster downstairs, very dodgy plumbing/electrics etc) I think it was £130 but it was the only shiney nice thing we had at that stage. It has certainly earned its dues and now is a sentimental piece the DDs will fight over!

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 17:32

I didn't realise you could get Dualities toasters repaired - I threw the first one away!

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 17:33

Dualit

Who invented autocorrect?

PenguinOrHippo · 14/03/2020 17:39

Yolo, that must be so comforting that you DD is likely to come home. I cannot imagine having children in another country in these times.

Fleas, my commiserations for your lack of ordinary tomatoes. That is bad luck indeed! Mr Hippo has just caught on to the fact that I use normal canned tomatoes....Hmm... whenever he (once a month maybe) cooks, he has a tendency to use some wile ready made pasta sauce as a base. We now have about six large cans (he keeps buying, I put at the back of the cupboard). On our latest food shop, he ordered (and received) four cans of normal tinned tomatoes. On the bright side, if I get very sick, he and the little hippos can have pasta with ready made sauce for about two weeks Grin

7Penguins · 14/03/2020 18:24

Willis is a handsome devil!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 14/03/2020 18:42

fleas NOOOOOOO! poor dualit toaster, and what a pain to your bank balance. Expensive buggers, but after 30 years I cannot complain.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 14/03/2020 19:32

Just popping this here, ssshhh...🤫

France in total lockdown, DD1 just phoned to say all ski lifts closed where she is - so that's the end of the season She and all the seasonnaires are going out to get pissed before the bars close at midnight. We'll work out tomorrow how she gets home...
