A thread intended for menus, cats and idle chit-chat.

OVienna · 25/01/2020 20:39

Does anyone else think the corgis are the Queen's Emotional Support Dogs?

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 20:41

I've dipped into the Pro-MM/PH thread and am surprised that they think our thirteen threads were full of vitriol and should have been pulled by MNHQ.

Were they?

OP posts:
7Worfs · 25/01/2020 20:46

No, they weren't.
3 posters were doing circular arguments, asked the same questions 15 times, aggressively demanded opinion justifications and attention, and were quite insulting.
They also misrepresented what posters said on a regular basis, so there were lengthy discussions back and forth to clarify these.
It was deliberate obtuseness.

GracefulHippo · 25/01/2020 20:48

Hi everyone, having a glass of white wine and finally relaxing Smile Bliss!

I read the last of thread 13. It was quite interesting. It appears that the most pro-MM posters believed we were an Ecco chamber, fuelled by negative feedback from Facebook and Instagram. I have heard that they do have algorithms which makes you either read things you agree with 100% or that you hate (friend in IT). It seems that this was why they were so insistent on fact checking and anti our thread.

Weird thing is... I liked MM and PH and felt sorry for them, right up until the announcement which I felt was badly handled (and presuming way too much). I don’t have Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and all my sources of news are the papers... Especially the Sunday ones which are more in depth.

When one poster said they weren’t getting their news from social media, there was actually a surprise.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/01/2020 20:50

Well there was the odd little bit of viciousness at times.
But I think that was down to being told what we could & couldn't say/think by some bossy posters.
Food in particular.
It was like the threads were a magnet for professional argumentatives.
99% of us were getting on like a house on fire.
It's nice to see we've managed to get rid of the nasty ones.

OVienna · 25/01/2020 20:50

Mhor / I don't think so. I couldn't grasp what was going on with some posters. I would never have invested my time in something I found that annoying especially when it concerned celebrity figures. I really don't want to draw anyone in now so that's all say on it...

GracefulHippo · 25/01/2020 20:50

Did my post make sense ?

< looks at half drunken glass of wine >

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/01/2020 20:51

Your wineglass needs a refill Gracefull
But I agree with what you are saying.

OVienna · 25/01/2020 20:52

Graceful I also said that - news not from the DM/social. Not sure they believed me.

GracefulHippo · 25/01/2020 20:55

Got my refill Smile

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 20:56

Yes GracefulHippo it made sense. I read the end of the thread too.

What surprised me was that the people who kept challenging us did actually believe that we were almost sub-human.

God, I'm glad that thread is over and done with.

It was such hard work at times - and there was no need for it to be.

And the entire thirteen have stayed put, so MNHQ clearly didn't agree with the detractors.

I take your point OVienna that it is best not to draw anyone in. I am not sure I have the mental energy for it.

OP posts:
7Worfs · 25/01/2020 20:56

Ah yes, the old adage that if you disagree with someone then you're brainwashed, etc. Got tiresome quickly.

CathyorClaire · 25/01/2020 20:56

Not a royalist but realise untangling the constitution to get rid would probably make Brexit look like a walk in the park.

I'd settle for a bicycling monarchy consisting of the sov + direct heir supported by sovereign grant alone and all duchy land incorporated into the Crown Estate.

Cat currently has a limp worthy poorly paw. Vet has dished out painkillers and says leave it a few days. Cat now milking sympathy nearly as hard as any minor royal milks cash Grin

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 20:58

I saw their surprise when you commented on the DM, OVienna.

I thought I made it as clear as possible that the DM is not read chez Mhor either.

I also said that I didn't understand how Twitter works and that I couldn't figure out how to read posts on Instagram.

Lol

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 21:00

Thank you 7Worfs.. I agree with you.

It was exhausting (that popular MN phrase).

Oh but it really was. It wore my brain out.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 21:01

Moving on.....

I am cheered to see that so many posters are in Scotland.

Who was it said they used to live in Applecross? GuyTheBeagle?

I always think DH and I live in a remote area but Applecross is another level of remote.

OP posts:
7Worfs · 25/01/2020 21:02

Btw did you find the Thug Cat threads? It's such a spirit-lifting saga Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/01/2020 21:02

Cats think they are far more superior than the Royal family 🤣

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 21:02

CathyandClaire has the cat got a lampshade on?

OP posts:
TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 21:03

And yolofish has got thread fourteen underway for when we need it.

Maybe people should PMK.

OP posts:
WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 25/01/2020 21:04

I did mention my royalty meetings way back on one of the other threads but was probably just before one of the many occasions we were disciplined for unbecoming conduct on the thread so probs got lost.

7Worfs · 25/01/2020 21:04

I just googled Applecross - this is the level of remoteness I desire.
I escaped London after 10 long years, but still not hermitted enough.

TheMustressMhor · 25/01/2020 21:05

7Worfs I haven't had a chance to look for the Thug Cat threads yet, but it is on my to-do list.

Ah yes. Tomorrow's dinner.

Roast chicken with Mhor fine oatmeal stuffing. It's better than sex.
