Just read this on their instagram page.
They plan on becoming private citizens

Bet he's not stepping down so far that he'll have to earn his own living!

everyrosehasathorn · 08/01/2020 19:07

They can finally live their Hollywood celebrity lifestyle now, with private jets, Holidays and baby showers paid for by Elton John, Serena Williams and co. Financially independent probably means they will charge £££££ for appearances.

He doesn't need to earn a living he is a multi millionaire personally due to inheritance. Meghan is also she was worth approx 6 million personally before she married him due to thr globalisation of suits.

These are not poor people who need to earn a living.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/01/2020 19:09

My issue is not paying for their security but rather is the emphasis on “ being financially independent”- evokes the same eye roll as the “we only will have two kids because of the planet”...yet drive 4x4s and get on a plane every week. Just don’t preach!

Rosehip10 · 08/01/2020 19:09

They will be divorced by 2022

BloggersBlog · 08/01/2020 19:09

Wonder if they will "work towards" repaying the amount spent on refurbishing their house, their wedding, their security..... good timing! Well played H and M

LochJessMonster · 08/01/2020 19:09

@everyrosehasathorn We’ll all be paying £10 for a photo in the local nightclub Wink

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/01/2020 19:11

Good plan to do it now while the whole narrative is to pare down the monarchy.

There couldbe a different intention in 5years time

CitizenErm · 08/01/2020 19:11

I’m sure it’s tosh but read that they’d been house hunting in Malibu 6 months ago

ajandjjmum · 08/01/2020 19:12

They'll need a lot more money than they have, to lead the lifestyle they choose.

Not thr tax payer, the queen is very very careful about how tax payer money is spent

Evidence? Other than being a notoriously stingy employer?

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/01/2020 19:12

Can megan act now?!

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2020 19:12

They don't own frogmore house, it's effectively rented accommodation. It is owned by the crown estate and will continue to be.

Fraggot · 08/01/2020 19:13

Very smart to get the home restorations out of the way first. No wonder there was so much work going on around their place.

SymphonyofShadows · 08/01/2020 19:13

I don’t think Harry’s position and responsibilities are very well defined. Can anyone explain exactly what Edward does? I think it’s a positive move to modernise the RF, and will help get rid of the distant relative hangers-on who litter the lesser palaces and live off us for performing the really hard work of going to Wimbledon etc.

everyrosehasathorn · 08/01/2020 19:13

Lol @LochJessMonster bargain!!

strictlymomdancing · 08/01/2020 19:13

she wants the title. not the job.

hotcrossbun4321 · 08/01/2020 19:13

Can't blame them. Now Wills and Kate have 3 kids Harry is going to end up something like 10th in line assuming Will's three have couple of kids each. I could see H&M doing something like the Obamas have after the White House - charity stuff on their terms (more along the lines of her cookbook), speaking engagements etc, probably able to earn a good wage and have a nice standard of living.

The idea of a California home and some winter sun with yoga on the patio whilst her mum gets to be involved with the baby sounds lovely, rather than a drizzly English walkabout. Interesting to see how it works in practice though. I wish them all the best, Harry has spoken about his MH problems and hopefully this will be better for his wellbeing.

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/01/2020 19:14

@strictlymomdancing "meghan is poison".

Wow. 😮😑

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2020 19:14

Financially independent my arse - they will be trading off their titles and royal connections

I would bet good money not, they will live as private individuals and do charity work as and when it pleases them.

People really need to comprehend just how rich they are privately.

Thesearmsofmine · 08/01/2020 19:14

Good for them, they need to do what makes them happy. I did eye roll at working towards being financially independent though!

ajandjjmum · 08/01/2020 19:15

It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.

Like it's been coming for a while - they didn't even know each other a few years ago. What a pair!
