Just read this on their instagram page.
They plan on becoming private citizens

I'm trying to work out if they jumped or if they were pushed.................

FlamingoAndJohn · 08/01/2020 18:51

Makes sense.
His chance of being king is so slim that he doesn’t really ‘serve a purpose’ as a royal. He is like Princess Margaret in a way; doesn’t have a royal ‘job’ but equally can just get on with his life.

Fraggot · 08/01/2020 18:51

“I’m “working towards” being a size 8 and a millionaire...”

I don’t think it counts unless you make an instagram post about it.

Cant say i blame them, good luck to them

AmelieTaylor · 08/01/2020 18:51

Whatever makes Harry happier, but I feel really sad that There’s now such as distance between him and Wills & Kate when they all used to be so close. This is just another indication that things aren’t as they should be.

Copperleaves · 08/01/2020 18:52

The money without the responsibility would lead to a much better lifestyle.

SinglePringle · 08/01/2020 18:52

‘Financially independent’ is fucking great.

Beginning of the end of the extended royal family.

I have no issue with having a Swedish (for example) system where the Monarch is not the Head of State but merely a nod to past (outdated) traditions but a Monarch who signs off of laws etc? Time to be done away with.

Cruddles · 08/01/2020 18:52

Oh no, who will cut the ribbons now?

SF1269 · 08/01/2020 18:52

Well, good on them, they have had so much crap thrown at them, I am not surprised. It must have been a very difficult decision for Harry.

The winds are changing for the RF, that is for sure.

Andylion · 08/01/2020 18:54

I wonder if they will move to Canada, part of the Commonwealth, first, until people are used to them not being in the UK, then slip on over the border, to the states, which is after all, where Meghan is from.

Lulualla · 08/01/2020 18:55

@AmelieTaylor
This will make Meghan and Harry happier, and will move the spotlight from them back onto William and Kate. At the moment, if William and Kate attend an engagement at the same time as harry and meghan attend something else, more coverage is given the meghan and harry. If this change helps move things back to "how they should be" then everyone will be happier. That might help repair things between them a bit; they all get things the way they want, they wont be pitted against each other in the media, and Meghan hopefully wont be bullied quite so much.

CornforthWhite · 08/01/2020 18:55

As long as the tax payer gets to take a step back too that’s great. Good luck to them.

PortiaCastis · 08/01/2020 18:55

Yep good for them getting away from the constant crap bitching and nastiness

AraGrand · 08/01/2020 18:55

Well we know who wears the trousers now.

Aragog · 08/01/2020 18:56

Harry stepping down as a royal family member

That's not what is said online.
It said stepping down from being a senior member of the royal family, and that they would have a different role. They aren't stopping everything.

To be honest, after the amount of hate they get from the British media, who can blame them either.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/01/2020 18:57

I really think that the role, history, culture, expectation and lifestyle was NEVER properly explained to Meghan and it's been too great a shock and that's Harry's fault. It's a case of ditching being a senior royal, to keep his wife I would think.

BarbedBloom · 08/01/2020 18:58

Good for them, I really don't blame them.

kittykatkitty · 08/01/2020 18:58

I think this is love.... she tried and hated it, they have found a happy medium and he loves his wife more than duty.
Good for them

OP posts:
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 08/01/2020 18:58

Oh and he can't step down from his own genetics how ridiculous, he is just no longer working for his Gran.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/01/2020 18:59

Will they provide their own security?

Do we get any money back from the wedding- I was promised a new princess, bloody liberty!!!

TeaLibrary · 08/01/2020 18:59

Yep absolutely fine with me. As long as the public are no longer responsible for bankrolling their lavish private lifestyle and paying for their 24 hour protection.

AraGrand · 08/01/2020 18:59

Has anyone got a link?

NotJustACigar · 08/01/2020 18:59

Good for them, I like them and think they'll be much happier this way.

Justmuddlingalong · 08/01/2020 18:59

Will we still fund their security?

TwentyViginti · 08/01/2020 18:59

Another TAFKAP? Confused
