It's on Netflix and it's called A Simple Favour

Anna Kendrick plays "Mom Stereotype"

Blake Lively plays "Mysterious Woman Stereotype"

Henry Golding plays "Wooden Husband"

Appalling dialogue and acting

Weird incest subplot

Recommended for purposes of mockery.

Oh No!!!. I loved Last Christmas.

I'm an oldie but I had 2 very trendy 19 and 22 year olds with me and they loved it as well.

40somethingJBJ · 29/11/2019 00:48

The worst film I have ever seen, by a mile, is “Eyes Wide Shut” with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman (I think! I’ve tried to erase it from my memory!). Went to the cinema to see something else, but got the timings wrong and ended up watching this. It was just dreadful!

MistyCloud · 29/11/2019 01:11

@PyongyangKipperbang I also did not like Pulp Fiction. I have watched 3 or 4 times, but just do not get the hype at ALL.

@CallarMorvern I watched the Knight Before Christmas yesterday. 2/10. Bleedin' awful. The actor who played the 'Bwitish bloke' was dire. (And I think Vanessa Hudgens peaked in High School Musical.)

@SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing The Ghostbusters remake was pitiful. Though I do (usually) like all 4 actresses who are in it.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/11/2019 01:20

I really liked it Blush.

Verylucky2 · 29/11/2019 01:21

There's obviously something wrong with you lot.

I love 'Love, Actually'. I watch it every year at Christmas and it cheers me up (more often during the year as well).

I'm also looking forward to watching 'The Knight Before Christmas' on Netflix and 'Last Christmas' at the cinema.

My most awaited film atm though, is the new Jumanji.
I adore Dwayne Johnson; I think he's great in films and so funny. Seems like a lovely guy.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/11/2019 01:22

A simple favour that is.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 29/11/2019 01:29

See, I know this. Everybody I know hates it, but there's just something about it. Maybe it's so bad it's good.
Can't stand the originals though Shock

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 29/11/2019 01:33

The worst film ever is actually Maybe Baby written by Ben Elton. It is the sort of film that makes you snort with derision and shake you head in disbelief.

Last Christmas isn't as bad as a standard Richard Curtis film. Parts of it are genuinely moving and there's a smattering of funny moments. It's not quite as bad as The Guardian's film critic would have you believe.

differentcity · 29/11/2019 01:37

I liked A Simple Favour for Blake Lively's suits.

Worst film ever is the Sherlock Holmes comedy that was out last Christmas. Went to see it on Boxing Day, screen was completely sold out, did not hear a single person laugh at any point and some people left early. I can't even remember what the plot was. It has no redeeming features at all.

MistyCloud · 29/11/2019 01:37

@Verylucky2

I like Love Actually. Smile

I also LOVE Dwayne 'the rock' Johnson.

But I did think that The Knight Before Christmas was bloody dire.

NoGravyForYou · 29/11/2019 01:40

I clearly have shit taste because I liked A Simple Favour, so did DP.

I adore Love Actually, know it's pretty much by heart at this stage.

Saw Last Christmas in the cinema and enjoyed it, not a light hearted as I thought, DP teared up ( though he will deny this at all costs) at the end.

kateandme · 29/11/2019 01:44

oh when Blake was just an innocent in gossip girl.which reminds me,that's coming back!

Dustarr73 · 29/11/2019 01:48

You havent seen a shite film till you watch Master of Disguise. Its truly awful.

My Big Fat Wedding is crap.As is Bridesmaids.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/11/2019 01:50

I watched The Knight Before Christmas while I was ironing tonight.

I got the giggles at the hammy acting of the old crone, and didn't really recover. Some bits were quite sweet, but it was generally dire.

I did think he was quite good looking though, and there was some nice knitwear going on (easily pleased).

kateandme · 29/11/2019 01:52

love the rock.
and i am sickiningly into the hallmark movies at the moment.i am sure many on here would call them vomit enducing Blush #countdowntochristmas people!

ladybird69 · 29/11/2019 02:05

Worst film ever was Funny people with Adam sandler. The only film that I’ve ever walked out of.

Nodnol · 29/11/2019 02:08

Bridesmaids was dire. Well the ten minutes of it I was subjected to.

Paul Feig does great tv but his movies are trash.

lboogy · 29/11/2019 02:14

Agree it was a terrible film but it was weirdly compulsive that I did watch it till the end

Cold pursuit was absolutely terrible- makes me wonder if Liam Neeson knew it was hence him deliberately tanking the movie with his racist comments 🤔

safariboot · 29/11/2019 02:17

I'm not much for films, but Dance Flick was the most absymal thing I've ever been dragged along to. I walked out of the cinema on that.

And honestly that 'film' is a big part of why I'm "not much for films", especially not comedies. I spent my teen years being dragged to too many crap ones.

puds11 · 29/11/2019 02:23

Avatar. Biggest load of shit ever.

Any of the Star Wars franchise.

TheNameGames · 29/11/2019 02:39

@Horehound
Actually the worst film is some Christmas thing with Susan Boyle. Think it's called"the Christmas candle".

She is soooo awkward in it. No eye contact with the actor she's talking to. No idea why they cast her. Terrible film

I had forgotten about that film until I read your comment! That was truly awful! I saw it randomly and it was so bad I couldn't turn over in case I missed something horrendous lol. I can't even remember the scene now but it was meant to be a sad one and she looked furious (but she wasn't meant to be). I feel bad, because she's clearly not an actress. Why was she even in it!?

I am a sucker for the Channel 5 Christmas afternoon movies and the True Christmas channel. I bring it on myself really.

With that said, there was quite a good afternoon C5 one a few weeks ago called Evil Nanny. I'm sure the reviews are probably atrocious but I was HOOKED. I went from watching it in the background whilst doing other stuff to abandoning said other stuff and properly sitting down to watch it until the end to find out what happened.

Dontsayyouloveme · 29/11/2019 03:17

I don’t know if it’s me but I find most of the ‘must watch’ Netflix stuff to be crap. I watched ‘wounds’ the other day and it was a load of bollocks. Someone recommended ‘what happened to Monday’. I’m 30 mind from the end and can’t bring myself to waste another minute of it.

I hAve however recently watched ‘Tell me who I am’ and it was incredible. I wonder if the based on a true story stuff is much better than the other nonsense on there that seems to have people ‘on the edge of their seat’!

kateandme · 29/11/2019 03:30

as people!

cantfindname · 29/11/2019 04:46

I realise I am about to get battered into submission but in my mind one of the worst movies ever was bloody 'Titanic'

More padding than a down duvet and the acting was appalling. How many minutes -hours- of people struggling through flooded corridors did they actually need to make a point?

Ugh.

totallyradllama · 29/11/2019 04:54

Got to be Solaris. Incomprehensible
