It's on Netflix and it's called A Simple Favour

Anna Kendrick plays "Mom Stereotype"

Blake Lively plays "Mysterious Woman Stereotype"

Henry Golding plays "Wooden Husband"

Appalling dialogue and acting

Weird incest subplot

Recommended for purposes of mockery.

I’ve heard this podcast about crap movies is hilarious.

How Did This Get Made?
Each episode, which typically has a different guest, features the deconstruction and mockery of outlandish and bad films.

christmasathome · 29/11/2019 07:36

I didn't mind a simple favour. Its a far cry from being the worst film ever!

christmasathome · 29/11/2019 07:39

@VanyaHargreeves Last Christmas is a fantastic film! I guess we have very different tastes in films 😂

NatashaRomanov · 29/11/2019 07:41

Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD
Still haven't forgiven my husband for making me sit through it!

Bridesmaids is atrocious.
I tried watching Dumplin' on Netflix. Last about 15 minutes. Awful acting, no spark between any of the characters.

Yestermost · 29/11/2019 07:41

I admit I liked love actually ehen it first came out. Having watched it recently I was amazed at the pile of sexist shite it is. How did I not see it?

MeowTseTung · 29/11/2019 07:49

I saw The Aeronauts down my local Vue last weekend.

Over dramatized, far fetched twaddle that ridicules the true story it depicts.

Vue should have banned showing this, not Blue Story... Wink

AgeShallNotWitherHer · 29/11/2019 07:52

zemblanity - I saw "Vanilla Sky" on a second date with a new boyfriend who was several years older than I was and very sophisitcated. He thought it was brilliant. I thought it was utter crap. But I believed I was just too thick to understand it so pretended I loved it. It was crap wasn't it!! Grin

SheChoseDown · 29/11/2019 07:56

Thomas and the magic railroad.
Starring mara Wilson, alec Baldwin and Peter fonda.
I think fonda may have on a comedown during the filming of this atrocity. Some of his lines are so weird, they're delivered in such a bizarre way.

There's some racism, always a winner!
Awkward teen /uncle relationship.
Plots that never go anywhere.
Iv watched it dozens of times and still have no clue of the main plot, it's so bitty.

What about that film with Cameron Diaz and James something or other. The box I think it was called. Some bloke turns up with a box with a button on it and says if they press it they get a million dollars but a random person unrelated to them will die.

It was soooo shit!

zemblanity · 29/11/2019 08:09

Age wow! That's the first time I've heard of anyone liking Vanilla Sky. Everyone I've spoken to about it agreed it was shit.
I bet he thought it was shit and was just pretending to be high brow Grin

MatildeHidalgo · 29/11/2019 08:13

I bring to the table Adore starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright as two middle aged friends who have affairs with each others teenaged sons. The four even happily go on double dates.

How either actress read the script and thought "ooh this is a good idea" is beyond my comprehension.

sunglasses123 · 29/11/2019 08:19

I have seen Last Christmas. Didn’t like the female lead but my goodness Henry Golding is damm handsome!

Film was rubbish.....

TeachesOfPeaches · 29/11/2019 08:24

I watched it the other day and fell in love with Blake Liveley - utterly gorgeous.

There's a really terrible one in there about a woman who ends up running a bed and breakfast in Australia somewhere and falls in love with the local farmhand or something. So cheesy and bad I had to switch it off.

Disfordarkchocolate · 29/11/2019 08:26

When we pick a movie in our house we live in fear our son will pick something worse than Aquaman. No one lasted till the end, it was dreadful.

ET is my least favourite film, I fell asleep half way through.

I love The Family Stone though, one of my favourite films.

LittleSweet · 29/11/2019 08:32

The Tall Grass. I think it's Netflix. So people who are trapped in the tall grass forever. The grass is in soil that is really wet. Yet no-one thinks about pulling the haunted grass out of the ground so they can find their way back to the road. I solved the characters problem in five minutes.

TheVanguardSix · 29/11/2019 08:36

Love Actually - gives me the rage

You exist! You're out there! My people are out there. I've always thought I was alone on this desert island, the sole hater of that film from the moment it came out.
You could actually die from saccharin toxicity watching Love Actually. There should be warnings.

ScrambledSmegs · 29/11/2019 08:37

I really liked Dark City - as a piece of pure fantasy I thought it was well done. It would be boring if we all liked the same stuff.

I tried to watch Brittany runs a marathon recently, am a runner so got excited about a comedy/running intersection. I nearly lost the will to live.

burnoutbabe · 29/11/2019 08:38

The hotel one is "falling inn love" which I did like but I went into it knowing it was a made for Netflix romcom and it did what it said on the tin!
I also enjoyed simple favour, over the top plot but I do like Anna Kendrick in stuff.
Worse film? I see a lot as have an unlimited film card and this year it was probably the sixth sense follow up. Name escapes me! Was silly.

Jocasta2018 · 29/11/2019 08:38

'The Girl on the Train'.
I enjoyed the whole idea of the book especially as you do get to see all sorts of houses when approaching most London stations however they moved the film to the US which didn't work. Switched off after 5mins...

DanaPhoenix · 29/11/2019 08:40

Apparently Assassins Creed was really bad. I suspected this would be the case and that's why I refused to take my son's to see it. Dad got that job.

I liked Bridesmaids, but then I could relate, as a friend nearly had her "bridesmaids" moment in downtown Kuta with a bad case of Bali belly.

Worst recent movie seen is It Chapter 2. Three hours of my life I'm not getting back. So disappointing. Dreadful CGI. DS2 agreed, and he will usually mock old school CGI and special effects, that it ruined the entire movie.

SinkGirl · 29/11/2019 08:48

Vanilla Sky is very weak compared to the original (Arbre Los Ojos). Clearly they were too scared to make Cruise properly ugly, or he refused - in which case I have no idea why he was so keen to make it.

showmethegin · 29/11/2019 08:56

@HenSolo I came on here to say the circle! I was so disappointed because the trailer made it seem excellent, total pile of crap. And Tom Hanks is in it and he is my dream man, love him in everything.

TheCanterburyWhales · 29/11/2019 09:10

Oh lordy, Thomas and the Magic Railroad- I'd forgotten that as DD is 16 so our mindnumbingly boring Thomas days are long gone, but TatMr is what happens when you give things written by vicars to US film companies. Should have been Thomas and the actors who've been on Magic Mushrooms.

I quite like Love Actually once I get myself over the worst actress in the world (in a field also containing Sofia Coppola and Jennifer Aniston) being cast as anything other than an easy end barmaid (and even then she just sounded like she'd used Dick Van Dyke dvds for her diction lessons)

But Mama Mia is one of few that I just screamed "what the fuck is this?" ten minutes in And I speak as an Abba, AND a musical fan.

AShaveAndAHarecutHalfPrice · 29/11/2019 09:27

I absolutely hate Bridesmaids - least funny film ever, crass humour with no redeeming qualities.

FairyJuice · 29/11/2019 09:33

I loved A Simple Favour, I thought it was a great ironic parody of the instamum blogger generation (wasn't that the whole point of the movie??). I also loved Vanilla Sky though and I'm the only person I've come across who really enjoyed Midsommar in all of its wtf-ness too so maybe I'm just weird 🤷
