A continuation of the discussion regarding the MOD news and ethics surrounding Instagram “influencers”.

I just can't believe that someone who literally had it all could have screwed it up in such a no-coming-back-from-it way. FOD must be so pissed off that their charmed life has been put in jeopardy by his wife's inexplicably immature and bitchy behaviour.

It really puts into perspective how easy it is to create a false persona online. It kind of reminds me of the Belle Gibson case a couple of years ago who had all of her fellow 'wellness' bloggers fooled in the same way MOD seems to have pulled the wool over her peers eyes as to her true character.

Was Belle Gibson the woman who faked cancer that she had apparently cured with diet and stretching?

I was following tattle back in feb / march when she was outed. Tattle didn't say it was her, but banned her because the account was claiming they could only afford camping but they could see that they were in an exotic location at the same time as MOD. Crazy she admitted it. She should have just denied denied denied unless there's more we don't know

I’m not sure why people would sympathise with MOD because of this - she made racist comments about someone but it’s ok because they’re not a nice person?

BanKittenHeels Yes that's the one - she created a whole online personality which along with her cancer diagnosis turned out to be completely fake, and like MOD her hundreds of thousands of followers and hangers-on had no clue that she wasn't the person that she portrayed herself to be.

This is bonkers that they have resorted to this - they really have built a house of cards that is about to blow down. I hope that FOD still is employed elsewhere as I can't see how the F/MOD brand can recover from this. How embarrassing for them, and I feel so sorry for their older children who must be aware of what is going on.

I've had a quick scroll through the Tattle thread linked up thread, and it from what some people are saying MOD appears to not be a very nice person in general. I guess the 'be careful about who you step on on the way up as you'll meet them on the way down' saying couldn't ring more true here!

The papers rounded her followers up to 700k and have calculated reductions since then from that number - massively overstating the reduction in followers. I’ve been surprised at the terrible research done by the journalists covering this, so sloppy!
