A continuation of the discussion regarding the MOD news and ethics surrounding Instagram “influencers”.

You can purchase followers??!

SplatPancake · 22/12/2019 19:56

Yes, you can purchase on a sliding scale from Hilliers for numbers to bits that will like/comment to create fake engagement ratio/profiles. You can report this to Instagram, as they will suspend or delete accounts for this, but a) you have to spot it, b) you have to report it and c) you have to wait for Insta to act on the report.

So it’s a balance between being fecked off enough to report it and being bothered to wait for the consequences. So lots of big accounts just chance their arms that boobs will notice or bother, whilst continuing to shove dodgy advertising down blind sheep followers’ throats...

The whole thing is rotten, from bought engagement to sneaky undeclared advertising. I hope 2020 is the year that scales fall from people’s eyes...

SplatPancake · 22/12/2019 19:58

Hilliers = followers; bits = bots

Bloody autocorrect 🙄

Sleepthiefismyfavourite · 22/12/2019 23:07

So has MOD stayed quiet throughout this all?

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 22/12/2019 23:38

FoD seems a bit frenetic at the moment. He wants to present himself as the dad who is 'gramming for fun and yet his frantic posting suggests someone trying to put some distance between his ads.
Can only imagine that MoD has been told to choose between midwifery and influencing and they are both trying to respect that (sensible) choice.

OffTheShelfElf · 26/12/2019 08:29

Is Tattle not working for anyone else? Haven't been able to get on there since yesterday.

Ragglesnaggle · 26/12/2019 10:10

Nor me! I'm a bit addicted to the Sali Hughes thread 😏

barrelohflaughs · 26/12/2019 11:43

Their FB page says it’s down and should be fixed soon. They’re not in a hurry to sort it because of Christmas

OffTheShelfElf · 26/12/2019 15:08

Phew! It was getting to the stage where I might have to start interacting with my family instead!

Atalune · 26/12/2019 22:10

Ahah! I thought tattle had broken and I was sad.

What’s been happening in the FOD house? I want him to be so busted for his blatant follower buying.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 26/12/2019 23:26

Is Tattle back? How can you tell FoD has been buying followers? I accused him of being frenetic and now nothing for nearly a week. I wonder if they have banked enough money now to walk from it all, though I guess that anyone who has a £4,000 washbasin has probably set the bar quite high.

LoveNote · 26/12/2019 23:39

Seeing MOD in his stories was odd!! She seemed very uncomfortable

I don’t think she will be back

Atalune · 26/12/2019 23:53

If you look on the analytics site he had a staggering sharpe increase just as he was getting close to dipping below 1m. Someone over on tattle commentated that it would be impossible in real time to have that kind of uptick in exposure, interaction, likes etc.

Lots and lots of his followers are US and if you dare to click on Thor profiles they have no followers and no gram footprint. It tells of Bot activity.

Just some suspicions.

He is without shame though so he’ll keep shilling those cutie twins.

Horriblemysteries · 27/12/2019 22:31

Wow his post Christmas comeback, even with the twins in cutesy matching costumes, has sent his follower numbers diving again. 350 down already today.

www.newstatesman.com/culture/observations/2016/04/why-youtube-mums-are-taking-their-kids-offline

Interesting article on this very topic.

Excerpt:

“Once a child is active online, the bigger their digital footprint becomes, the more at risk they are,” she says. “We know that offenders who seek to groom a child will often conduct online research. They look for information about a child’s family, see if there are vulnerabilities they can exploit, or anything they can use to manipulate a child or make that child feel that this person knows them well.”

Worst case scenario is that whatever instaparents share can be used to groom their child. Likes, dislikes, vulnerabilities.

Grim.

Horriblemysteries · 28/12/2019 08:44

Looks like Simon is very popular in Syria this morning, with a small (100) influx of new followers.

How depressing to think that parents would read and be aware of all the problems associated with putting their children on lines as described in that article, and STILL do it. As the article said, in the past creeps had to risk standing outside of schools or hanging around parks to peep at children but now parents are willingly putting pictures of their children on line and actually inviting people to come and see them with their copious use of hashtags and self promotion. It is disgusting really.

Horriblemysteries · 28/12/2019 08:47

He's tragic.

Imagine being that obsessed.

So many daddies calling for Clemmie to come back online. They must be loving it

Horriblemysteries · 29/12/2019 16:31

Even the Syrians can't stop the slide, down nearly 300 in one day after featuring Clemmie again, despite all the fangirl comments clamouring for her to come back.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 08/01/2020 12:02

Eek! FoD's latest post is a reminder that, for Insta royalty, there really is no such thing as a free holiday (even though this one wasn't). Imagine the awfulness of your private holiday being observed/scrutinsed by your followers on the next sunbed but one. FoD might get on his high horse about observing online security but those girls seem to have little sanctuary from the world he has exposed them to relentlessly.

Horriblemysteries · 09/01/2020 22:42

He must be seriously shitting it now. He's tried easing Clemmie back onto his feed, showing the twins doing twinning stuff, and now back to the raving on his his own in a dark room. None of it is working. The fans are arguing in the comments box, more and more dissenting voices are popping up and the followers are still leaving in droves.

MamaRaisingBoys · 09/01/2020 23:13

I thought MoD wasn’t back, but I downloaded the app where you can track followers and see she has blocked me. No idea why as I made one very inoffensive comment on FoD’s first post about the whole drama.

Is her account active again then?

Horriblemysteries · 10/01/2020 07:00

No she’s not reactivated her account yet. The blocking thing is so short sighted. The more they block the more people look for an outlet to rage about it and inevitably they find tattle. Happens with all influencers, and then they whinge about people gossiping them on tattle 🤦‍♀️ They are far better off dealing with comments like adults on their own page. FOD can’t afford to block any more as his numbers keep dropping.

Sleepthiefismyfavourite · 12/01/2020 14:11

I saw him doing his raving wrapped in fairy lights and wondered what was going on 😂

Horriblemysteries · 15/01/2020 13:41

Raving parents of twins are popular in Indonesia this morning I see Hmm.

Still, finally making an appearance on ASA's shit list must sting a bit.
