A continuation of the discussion regarding the MOD news and ethics surrounding Instagram “influencers”.

It’s so awkward, isn’t it. How can he not mention her at all? Does he intend to never, ever mention her again??

Horriblemysteries · 26/11/2019 22:22

Playing with a metal tape measure is so stupid. One way to slice tiny fingers open and damage nerves though I guess. I can’t believe he puts these terrible parenting decisions on the internet for a million people to see what a tool he is.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 27/11/2019 17:06

One of my favourite ladies on Instagram is starting to push more ads now and this gets me down.

She’s a very very funny lady and I really like her - she’s relatable and interesting but now the ads are creeping in.

For me this means her output is inevitably going to alter as she’ll now be beholden to keeping the ad men happy 😕

CantstandmLMs · 28/11/2019 18:18

Oh god FOD makes me cringe like no other!!

dottydolly72 · 28/11/2019 18:24

What's he done now 🙈

CeeCee88 · 29/11/2019 21:36

Well there is FODs #AD now. Off to see the F1 with another twin dad. I do find it weird that he's basically just ignoring MOD now. I wonder whether there will be the obligatory "I'm back and am now giving the wife time off for having looked after the kids for so long" as he usually does.

LadyCassandra · 30/11/2019 03:14

You do know you can unfollow right?!
Posting every couple of days about what “cringey” thing he’s doing is a bit sad. My insta feed is full of people I find interesting, not those I want to slag off at every opportunity.

Horriblemysteries · 30/11/2019 07:32

It’s not that easy though, that’s the addictive nature of Instagram and once you know these people exist and how much they irritate you it’s difficult to stop having a look to remind yourself just how irritating they really are.

It’s like DMBL40. I stopped following her ages ago because the pouting and extravagance started to do my head in but I remember a time when I used to enjoy her content. Now I’m watching her start to drop pictures of her current house in her feed (including pictures of her used-to-be-private kids bedroom) while she’s laying the ground work for some insta begging to furnish the new holiday home she’s about to reveal. She’s been dropping hints about it for weeks. I’m just fascinated by the tactics.

I follow lots of interesting people but I actually follow them. I just peep at the others now and then.

LadyCassandra · 30/11/2019 09:57

@Horriblemysteries I get that, I really do. I follow a couple of people who I watch in morbid fascination. But I don’t come on here every day or so and say “so and so is doing something really annoying” just so everyone can pile on and agree with me.
If MOD can be totally destroyed by this because she made a few choice comments, I don’t think anyone on this thread has the moral high ground if they are doing the above.

Horriblemysteries · 30/11/2019 10:17

I think it’s quite comforting in a way though to know that you are pretty normal to have these negative feelings about insta when they are all telling you that you must be a terrible terrible person to not be kind 100% of the time. I don’t claim to take the moral high ground, it’s a guilty habit I’m not proud of but it’s nice to get some of this off my chest every now and then. Especially when they aren’t adhering to the laws around advertising or manipulating the truth or their followers in other ways.

stupidis · 30/11/2019 13:19

MOD's account is gone.

PenelopeChipShop · 30/11/2019 15:12

Yes I just had a nose when I saw FOD’s ad about his formula 1 trip to see if she was still silent and MOD has been deleted. I wonder whether things are kicking off at her actual work or if she’s had advice from the NMC.

RexDangerVest · 30/11/2019 16:40

Well good on her, she'll be miles better off without intstagram!

RexDangerVest · 30/11/2019 16:41

...mentally I mean, not financially 😬

Goslowlysideways · 30/11/2019 19:03

I’m pleased her account has gone. I hope she gets some support and she has a happy life out of the public eye. Her behaviour has been awful for years but I hope this has taught something and she is better in the long run.
As for FOD well there is no hope for him he is just appalling. But people seem to like smug w***s who are obsessed with money so there you go.

Horriblemysteries · 30/11/2019 19:28

I think she will be back. She has only deactivated, not deleted. Must be hard to actually pull the plug when you have built up a large following like that, and her gas and air account is still open.

I see Kat Farmer did the big reveal on her holiday home today, as predicted. Look forward to lots of "where can I get a log burner" and "who does the best sofas?" "what can I put in this corner?" questions over the next few weeks.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 30/11/2019 20:20

She may have deactivated temporarily to put some space between the comments on her last post and her planned return.

Itsashame · 01/12/2019 10:25

It looks like her account has properly gone now rather than being deactivated

dottydolly72 · 01/12/2019 12:24

It's gone.. 😳 whilst MoD is in AD having a ball. Quite sad but I guess trying to come back now would be tricky. I just hope she has some good friends in RL.

Itsashame · 01/12/2019 12:51

Aside from everything that happened, I do feel bad for her now. Her husband is carrying on regardless and her account is gone. It doesn’t feel quite right

jbfletcher1 · 01/12/2019 13:05

i'm sure if was a joint decision

Itsashame · 01/12/2019 13:21

It probably was but it still doesn’t feel right to me, the “brand” was both of them, and started by her.
Still, I guess this is what happens when things go wrong

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 01/12/2019 13:25

Yes, I think so too jbfletcher1. I bet they agreed that he might be able to continue with his brand but only if hers was no longer in the picture. If I were her, I would be feeling huge relief, a sense of freedom. I can't imagine anything more awful than the prison they have built themselves and walking away must be great. I do think she has behaved appallingly, I don't think she is even vaguely racist and I do hope she will continue to be a midwife.

jbfletcher1 · 01/12/2019 13:25

the "normal" thing to do would be both leave but I guess they want the ££££ so will just pretend nothings happened

Doubleraspberry · 01/12/2019 15:07

Apparently MoD is on a girls weekend in Paris right now, so not suffering too greatly.
