What’s the FIRST thing you would buy if you won the lottery

Feel free to be as shallow as possible. Forbidden choices include: paying off your mortgage, going on holiday or charitable donations. You know, all the stuff we’d all actually do with a lottery win Grin

Mine would be to buy a really bloody nice handbag (never had one).

(Then of course I’d move on to the boring but important stuff).

Cadbury's to get the good chocolate back. Then probably pay for my home to have carpet/be decorated. Great thread idea!

OverByYer · 02/11/2019 22:47

A second home by the sea

BringOnTheScience · 02/11/2019 22:48

An Aston Martin each for DH & me.

GretelGreen · 02/11/2019 22:49

BringonTheScience - I like your style Grin

A static caravan Grin. The one I'm thinking of, in the location I'm thinking of would probably cost more than my house. But the views...

Uberbeeboo · 02/11/2019 22:50

Buy a great big bottle of fizz

Wheresmycider · 02/11/2019 22:52

The new Lego gingerbread house. I want that so much.
Then lots of nice underwear. Am rather large of boob and begrudge having to pay 40 quid or more for a half way decent bra that actually looks attractive.

  1. My neighbour's house - the one that runs right behind our garden. I would demolish his house and build a 3 car garage with an exercise studio above and have a bigger garden. The garages are the big draw though as we live where there is serious snow in winter. The only thing I don't like about our lovely home and neighbourhood is that we don't have a garage.

In reality I really like my back garden neighbour - we often chat over the fence and his parents owned the house and were part of the community so I feel a bit guilty. But if I won the lottery I'd buy him another home nearby so he wouldn't feel too displaced :)

Second on the list is a house in west cork.

Third on the list is a hairdresser to come to my house every second day to do my hair.

I've thought about this a lot for someone who doesn't do the lottery.

Hadalifeonce · 02/11/2019 22:52

A 6 foot stone wall around my garden.

ConfCall · 02/11/2019 22:54

Some expensive, stylish (not trendy) clothes that fit well and look good, with the help of a stylist.

CupoTeap · 02/11/2019 22:54

A new car can't ever see me having one.

Temeraire · 02/11/2019 22:54

We wandered round the John Lewis Christmas department this afternoon having a gawp, and there was a Wedgwood advent calendar www.wedgwood.co.uk/christmas-2019-advent-calendar-house-limited-edition which was a) the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen that wasn’t an actual kitten and b) Six. Hundred. Pounds. Sterling which is fucking insane.

I said then and there that if DH wins the lottery between now and Xmas I’d ring a cab to take me to John Lewis and buy it then and there.

Sarcelle · 02/11/2019 22:55

A few months staying in a fantastic house, somewhere like Malibu, to take stock and decide what to do next.

MaitlandGirl · 02/11/2019 22:56

I’d buy a chateau in France and set up my own wedding business. I’ve already got my eye on a few properties so could be in within a couple of months.

heymammy · 02/11/2019 22:56

A fully electric car

BillywigSting · 02/11/2019 22:57

The very first thing would probably be a celebratory meal in a really fancy restaurant, and maybe a babysitter. 50/50 whether I'd take dc or have it just me and dp

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2019 22:57

Temeraire - yours is my favourite so far, because it's so unusual!
I'd start by buying seven Westwood dresses, one for every day of the week, and seven All Saints leather jackets, ditto.

FrankiesKnuckle · 02/11/2019 22:58

An upgrade to my economy ticket to Australia next year to upper class. Or private charter.

thistimelastweek · 02/11/2019 22:58

Not so much the first thing but a lifelong luxury. I would like fresh, clean, luxurious bed linen each and every day as long as it involved no effort on my part.

mynameisMrG · 02/11/2019 22:58

A really decent sewing machine that does embroidery and can download designs on to

UnderHisEyeBall · 02/11/2019 22:59

Christmas crockery. For the new giant house I was about to buy.

Nat6999 · 02/11/2019 22:59

A new build house, detached, at least 4 bedrooms with at least 2 ensuite bathrooms, massive kitchen diner with big glass doors on to a stone patio, big living room & a room for ds to chill & play video games. Big drive & garage.

ProstheticConscience · 02/11/2019 22:59

A Brompton explore with custom colour scheme

DH says a house - probably by the sea but not too close. Otherwise he's a bit stuck.

NoHummus · 02/11/2019 23:00

Biscuits. Specifically, the biscuit advent calendar I saw in a catalogue today for a hundred and twenty five quid.
Then once I had my biscuits, next priority would be a Christmas holiday somewhere warm.

Wizzbangpop · 02/11/2019 23:01

A doer upper of a house which is made into my home to my v upmarket specifications. And no mortgage on either.
