I can’t believe the number of people feeling entitled to have Meghan be slandered and blaming the victim for standing up for themselves..

You didn’t pay taxes for them to be bullied. That wasn’t part of their job role... Hmm

cdtaylornats · 01/10/2019 21:42

The letter would be copyright so publishing it they must owe her literal royalties. If it is on their website then international and recurring royalties.

Publishing a private letter is appalling, however Harry and Meghan have presumed a political agenda and it’s legitimate for the press to criticise this.

madcatladyforever · 01/10/2019 21:44

Damned good on them. The abuse has been so vile I've lost faith in people.

Whataliberty · 01/10/2019 21:45

Well said Harry! Would anyone watch and do nothing while someone they love issubjected to a load of malicious lies on a daily basis? There has been no good in the stories or truth, they are just designed to hurt her and her family.

Yes, sue them for the letter and for the countless articles but it's the drama, the long emotional, deeply personal statements, mentioning Princess Diana, which surely has to be hurtful to William I think

I'm the mother of two adult sons. If they were in this situation the words of this statement wouldn't be hurtful to DS1, he'd be there, right behind DS2 and his wife, giving his full support.

People really need to stop pitting Kate and William against Harry and Meghan. Other than the tripe that's printed in papers like the Fail there's no reason to believe they hate each other.

Pannalash · 01/10/2019 21:46

Good

MrsNotNice · 01/10/2019 21:47

I think this move will be therapeutic for Harry’s mental health.

A child of a mother that died and was hugely affected by the press, He must’ve felt so helpless and defenceless seeing his mother in pain and struggling. Now growing out of the defenceless bubble and realising he can do something about it, must feel very therapeutic.

His mother would’ve wanted this to happen.

To be this isn’t about royal family. This is about a son, who has been victimised twice bu the press and is finally getting the courage to stand up for himself.

Yey Harry and Meghan. And thank you Meghan for giving him the courage to finally stand up for what has been eating at him for decades.

stairway · 01/10/2019 21:47

I think Harry and Meghan would both be better off if they stood down from public life and moved to LA.
I wouldn’t say the press were the reason his mother died. Sadly if she’d only worn a seatbelt. I think her death was more about road safety. I understand the need to blame someone though.

Aragog · 01/10/2019 21:48

Go for them. Some sectors of the media (Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday seemingly thee worst) have been vile, and their posters comments allowed below even worse. They've had the odd positive sorry this week but even in them there is an unpleasant undertone at times. And again the comments allowed below horrid.

I only see when directed via twitter and MN but what I've seen has been nasty reading.

And tbh some posters on Mumsnet have been no better, even stooping low enough to have digs at a 4 month old baby. Some has made disgusting reading.

Very few people in this world deserve such nastiness directed towards them. I certainly can't see what these two have actually done that is so offensive to some people.

Encyclo · 01/10/2019 21:49

Why should they stand down from public life?

Tupperwarelid · 01/10/2019 21:49

Good I’m glad they are standing up against that piece of shit. Every day they publish some crap about her.

Fundays12 · 01/10/2019 21:49

Good the Daily Fail have been awful towards her. Just one big campaign of hate and nastiness.

GCAcademic · 01/10/2019 21:50

They've had enough. I was only thinking recently how the comments below the line on the Daily Mail are disgraceful and should have just been completely stopped a long time ago. People say the vilest things and it's like they encourage each other, the ultimate spiteful echo chamber.

There are some seriously disturbed and toxic people out there. I read the story today about that poor journalist who died aged 27 and, while the DM was clearly only letting sympathetic comments through, they were all being heavily red-arrowed by hundreds of people who clearly thought that the death of an educated Muslim woman was something to be happy about.

PianoTuner567 · 01/10/2019 21:50

moved to LA

Maybe, like most of us, they want to live amongst family and friends.

PortiaCastis · 01/10/2019 21:50

I think the Queen might have something to say if her grandson went to LA why on earth would he want to go there when his family is here and his Dad will be King very soon

Good for Harry.

I wonder how they got hold of the letter, did the dad release it?

However, the way the newspaper allegedly twisted it is totally wrong.

AnotherMonickerChange · 01/10/2019 21:53

I just cannot understand the kind of people who have nothing better to do than pry into every waking moment of someone they don't even know, and vilify them over any possible conceived slight etc.

I don't usually bother reading these threads, and I don't read articles about royals or celebrities.

But I opened this one because it sounded so positive and I'm aware that MM has been treated appallingly by the British press, and plenty of MN users too.

People make me sick. And I'm really glad Harry is standing by her and that they are fighting the arsehole journalists who fuel these idiotic obsessions people have with the lives of strangers.

I wish I had had a partner that supportive and loving, when I needed support.

If only everyone could just mind their own.

FavouriteSong · 01/10/2019 21:53

Good for Harry. I hope this stops the toxic, thinly disguised racist comments being published about Meghan.

100PercentThatBitch · 01/10/2019 21:53

They have JOBS here

They've basically had the Commonwealth countries designated to them because the Queen is too old and Charles also an OAP

I remember one of the Goggleboxers thinking she was impertinent to be interested in the commonwealth but he'd already been told that was his gig.

Also Invictus and any of the many other causes he's involved in

areyoubeingserviced · 01/10/2019 21:53

@MrsNotNice - lovely post

MyBlueMoonbeam · 01/10/2019 21:54

What the actual fuck is wrong with someone to post something like this?!

Err..... because it's true
