Piano I think so. Wonder if they will change their tack now. The reporting on the Africa trip seemed quite positive.

Good on them! I can't imagine they would be doing this unless their lawyers felt they had a very strong case. I hope they wipe the floor with the DM. It is absolutely disgusting the way MM has been treated by them.

Andsoltbegins · 01/10/2019 20:59

Nice if you’ve got the money to be able to take legal action
For most people there’s nothing you can when false and malicious stories are circulated about you

Interesting to see whether the usual suspects turn up on here..........

TheFairyCaravan · 01/10/2019 21:01

It's been a long time coming. I hope the rest of the media, and Piers Morgan, starts to sit up and take notice.

Breathlessness · 01/10/2019 21:02

Are you waiting until she’s a MIL to defend her Wink

Usethegoodbudder · 01/10/2019 21:04

Oh Pier bloody Morgan can't get over the fact that he and MM aren't best buds after going out for drinks one time 🙄

Well done Harry and Meghan! About time

CampingItUp · 01/10/2019 21:06

Good!

Fantastic letter.

Fantastic letter whoever it is about.

MrsNotNice · 01/10/2019 21:06

Finally thank goodness I can’t bare the way this woman is being treated and how normalised it has become to slander women based on so much misogynist expectations of a princess.

I am not even a royalist but this has been truly bothering me.

Plz Harry, make this happen !

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/10/2019 21:08

Good

Didn’t he warn the press a few years ago

RueCambon · 01/10/2019 21:08

I think they should have risen above it.

Kate was pasted for a decade. It is the way it seems. Never understood why people criticised kate so much either.

BlockedandDeleted · 01/10/2019 21:11

Although unsure whether publishing the letter she wrote to her dad can be considered unlawful

They can do as as the letter writer always holds to copyright to the letter - so they can go for Associated Papers under copyright laws.

Good on 'em.

Whitejasmine · 01/10/2019 21:13

This will bite them on the bum though I reckon. Personally I have zero interest in them or the royal family. I suspect taking legal action will just fan the flames and make them get up people noses even more. I think they may move abroad at some point soon, Harry has become very unpopular here.

ShirleyPhallus · 01/10/2019 21:13

Risen above it? Could you imagine having hateful articles posted about you every single day of your life just because of who you married?

Kate got a battering but never to this degree. They didn’t call her attention seeking for having photos directly after the birth (though apparently Meghan was attention seeking for not having them). They didn’t seek out the manufacturer of a baby blanket she used to whip up hatred of her.

Meghan has had it much worse.

Usethegoodbudder · 01/10/2019 21:13

Blocked never knew that! I hope they take the mail to the cleaners!

MrsNotNice · 01/10/2019 21:14

RueCambon

No way! The slander campaign has been much more personal with Meghan and so much more derogatory.

Usethegoodbudder · 01/10/2019 21:14

I agree they will end up moving abroad.

Although unsure whether publishing the letter she wrote to her dad can be considered unlawful. Or perhaps he just means the way it was edited to suit the media agenda.

Infringement of copyright.
Breach of privacy
Defamation, if they edited it to make her look bad.

Breathlessness · 01/10/2019 21:16

I think they backed off Kate once she was married and had a baby. In this case, they seem to have escalated after the wedding and baby and haven’t shown any signs of backing off.

PennyNotSoWise · 01/10/2019 21:16

I'm so glad to hear this.

She's been treated disgustingly, especially on this site! Threads full of vitriol towards her, it's horrible.

Quirrelsotherface · 01/10/2019 21:17

Responding like this will just antagonise the situation more though. Look at Kate. As above, she was absolutely slandered, slagged off for not having a job, her poor mum and dad having every aspect of their lives and background scrutinized. What did she do? She quietly stood her ground, never lost her composure, she had a genuine self belief. She learned her Royal 'craft' and there is one, whether people like it or not. No-one can go into a new role like a bull in a China shop and expect to be successful. Life doesn't work like that. Harry and Meghan just refuse to do anything quietly, they are constantly drawing attention.

SaraNade · 01/10/2019 21:18

Good on him, the racism (and that's the only reason for it) against Meghan, who as far as I can see, has done nothing but help people and do good, is absolutely disgraceful. Especially on this site. It is always obvious to me when a MNer believes and read vicious tabloids like the Fail. They regurgitate the outrageous lies, as if they were fact.

ChicCroissant · 01/10/2019 21:18

Do you mean the Daily Mail that is currently headlining how Range Rovers were transported (at no cost to the taxpayer) to their recent tour?

If (and I think they have) gained goodwill from the tour then I don't think the letter is well-timed actually - it would have been better to bask in the glow for a bit and he's done these letters before at the start of their relationship.

Who will the legal action hurt more, her father or the newspaper? Not really wise to prod her father back into action when he's been quiet for a bit.

AgeLikeWine · 01/10/2019 21:19

”We believe in media freedom and objective, truthful reporting. We regard it as a cornerstone of democracy”

And what the fuck would HRH the Duke of Sussex know about democracy? He really is a complete dickhead, and he isn’t very bright.

If Harry doesn’t like the media and public who bankroll his life questioning his and his wife’s behaviour, he is welcome to renounce his royal status, live as a private citizen, get a job and support himself like the rest of us. I believe Gregg’s are hiring.
