I'm a fully grown, adult, professional, competent, mature woman but....

... I fucking love stickers.

I recently bought these and they're stuck all over my professional work diary. They make me so happy Grin

I also love a hot orange squash. My mother started giving me hot orange squash to warm me up when I got home from nursery in the winter. I have had a hot orange squash every single day as my "just got home" drink ever since then.

Tell me all of the ways you're an adult competent woman but still basically four years old....

Zaphod I still have my Jill books and read them about once a year! And Jinny at Finmory.
My favourite sweets are alphabet letters.
I collect pictures of interesting crocodiles.

WizzyBee · 02/09/2019 21:51

Sticker charts for me
Shouting 'weeeeee' when driving or cycling down hills,
Making screechy brake noises when driving too fast round corners,
Dragging a stick along railings, preferably at a run
Kicking through piles of fallen leaves
Throwing sycamore helicopters up

Papergirl1968 · 02/09/2019 21:52

I’m one of a number of Mumsnetters who loved The Chalet School books and got very excited to reread them recently!

ChopinIn10Minuets · 02/09/2019 21:53

I can't resist a go on the swings (if they are the old fashioned robust sort Grin).

partysong · 02/09/2019 22:03

@Dollymixture22 erasers for me too, especially scented. I collected them as a kid and now just can't resist (have to actively avoid them to stop myself buying them)

I'm a senior NHS manager (bought a new stripy eraser for my first day in post!)

heidbuttsupper · 02/09/2019 22:05

Oh also my favourite TV show is The Simpsons. It is always on at home

rosegoldwatcher · 02/09/2019 22:06

Hot Ribena - yum! Jelly beans (but not the garlic flavoured ones!)

Ihatesandwiches · 02/09/2019 22:08

Can totally relate to this thread!
I'm another devotee of hot squash - reminds me of being little. Always had to be careful if Dad made it because he sometimes forgot to add cold water. He does, however, make the best egg in a cup with bread and butter mixed in.
DP used to buy me expensive chocolates when we first started dating, he soon worked out I get more excited about 3 for £1 bags of kids sweets from Asda :-)
I have a thing for funky post it notes :-)

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 02/09/2019 22:08

I love sweets too especially refreshers and opal fruits starburst also every kind of pop.

lucysmam · 02/09/2019 22:13

This thread's ace!

We went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park for a wander today & dd2 went on the play area...with me. Dd1 supervised the bags while I played on the see-saw and in the sand with dd2 Grin. I really enjoyed it!

I also love pick-n-mix! Not fussed about the "grown up" sweets in wrappers but love the kids section.

FadedRed · 02/09/2019 22:15

@WinelsMyCarb - my childhood was way before the microwave cooker, I’m afraid! My ‘egg in a cup’ is the epitome of nursery comfort food. It’s simply a hot hard boiled cup, mushed in a tea cup (or mug) with lots of butter and salt (pepper if you like it, I don’t) served with hot buttered toast and eaten with a teaspoon. The love shown by the maker in getting the shell off the hot egg, and taking the trouble to mush it up with a fork makes it special.

ApplePenPineapplePen · 02/09/2019 22:20

I squeal with excitement at rainbows. And shout wheeeee when running or cycling down a hill. I am 46. Every day I put on my professional serious persona but sometimes my real self peaks through the cracks and I realise I will never be considered a proper grown up.

heveranne · 02/09/2019 22:27

I'm in my 50s and pretty grown up - but -

I am beside myself with excitement when I see fireworks
I love those land trains you get in holiday resorts. Have to go on them.
Every so often reread The Magic Faraway Tree.

Metempsychosis · 02/09/2019 22:27

YY to hot squash. I can’t have it at home because the DC would wolf a bottle in a day so I have to make do with fruit tea but it’s Not The Same Sad

Can’t believe no one has mentioned flying saucers!

One of the best things about internet culture is that grown adults now feel empowered to coo over cute “doggos” without feeling ashamed.

csa26 · 02/09/2019 22:29

If I’m very sad I sometimes go to PetsatHome to be cheered up by the animals. Or any pet shop with a large fish collection (but not kittens because that just makes me sadder about kittens being in a pet shop... which is sort of hypocritical I realise...)

BertrandRussell · 02/09/2019 22:31

My fil once said “Bertrand is so easy to buy presents for - a colouring book and some crayons or something like that and she’s happy”
It was meant- and taken as a compliment.

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 02/09/2019 22:34

I love hot black current squash or orange juice heated up in the microwave. Reminds me of cold winter evenings as a kid.

Colouring books, I have a stack of them in the cupboard, also like rereading old childhood books.
I squeak when I see a monkey.

I’m not really sure I’m an adult at all Blush

Cherrysoup · 02/09/2019 22:34

I found a pack of stickers in an abandoned drawer at work. I was ecstatic. I want the t-bar shoes but my stupid feet are too big. 😡

Sometimes, if we’ve been on a long drive, I fall asleep (dh obviously driving!) and feel like I just can’t cope doing anything once we’re home.

joystir59 · 02/09/2019 22:35

I love crisp sandwiches.

Whoops75 · 02/09/2019 22:40

I wait until 9.05 pm to buy milk so I have to drive to the shop farthest away. This shop sells fizzy sweets and I eat them on the drive home.
Dh and kids offer to go but I insist Grin

LavaLamp5566 · 02/09/2019 22:40

Bubble Machines... Just bubbles in General. Love 'em. Can't get enough

dingit · 02/09/2019 22:41

Feeding the ducks. Jumping in icy puddles. Running in the fountains that pop up and down
Loads of others I can't think of right now Smile

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 02/09/2019 22:45

I love stickers too!

I'm a 23 year old adult, competent woman with a mortgage with OH, can cook a bloody good meal and does all of the paperwork, insurances and sorts all the issues with household and general bills.

Yet I still bloody love candy sticks, i still pretend to be in a music video when i drive home from work and a specific song comes on.

I play dead when DP wants me to do something for him.

AndromedaPerseus · 02/09/2019 22:46

I love a 99 ice cream cone with obligatory strawberry sauce and 100s and 1000s

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 02/09/2019 22:47

My people!

I love jelly babies, especially the Berry Mix ones - they're like crack to me.

This thread reminds me of one of my favourite quotes - "we don't stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing."
