I'm a fully grown, adult, professional, competent, mature woman but....

... I fucking love stickers.

I recently bought these and they're stuck all over my professional work diary. They make me so happy Grin

I also love a hot orange squash. My mother started giving me hot orange squash to warm me up when I got home from nursery in the winter. I have had a hot orange squash every single day as my "just got home" drink ever since then.

Tell me all of the ways you're an adult competent woman but still basically four years old....

I will use reward charts with stickers when trying to make a new habit/ change a behaviour.
I get very excited seeing dogs and cats when out, even though I have my own dogs and cats and work with dogs.
Most of the books I have on audible are kids books, I listen to them over and over, it's very relaxing!
I love visiting petting farms, and feeding the animals.
Oh and I could live off chocolate buttons.

WineIsMyCarb · 02/09/2019 20:35

@FadedRed What's egg in a cup? I think I know from grandma making it but don't know the technique. I think it involved microwaving...

I'm a senior academic and I love those little packets of foam shrimp and banana sweeties

CottonSock · 02/09/2019 20:37

I keep buying and buying My kids (me) stickers.
I love pick and mix, esp the big jelly strawberries. Think they have made them all sugar free now so can't have many.
Kids treats like chocolate krispie or cornflake cakes.
Kids ice cream, e.g.. Maltesers.

Dollymixture22 · 02/09/2019 20:37

Scented erasers😊😊😊😊

I recently discovered smiggle. Can a director of corporate finance have a scented kitten pencil case. Yes she can.

RainbowsandSnowdrops · 02/09/2019 20:39

Love this thread.

I go to Wilkos to get pick and mix millions.

Pyjamas and a Disney movie is sometimes all I need after a long day.

Paddington is also my favourite movie of all time, I like to watch it with toast and marmalade. ☺️

TFSRM · 02/09/2019 20:46

I still love stuffed toys. I buy them for my daughter but really they are for me.

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 02/09/2019 20:52

I like to make up silly names and songs to sing to the dog, who looks at me like I have lost my mind.

I have recently rekindled a childhood love of "freezies," those frozen tubes of fruit juice. I was so excited when I saw a variety in the store that had no sugar or artificial sweetener and are only 15 calories!

I love colouring and all things crayon.

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 02/09/2019 20:53

I think I have too many to list....
Most defiantly colouring in, baking kids cakes and too much Nintendo

NoUsernamesILike · 02/09/2019 20:57

Egg in a cup is delicious, you boil your eggs, smash them up in a cup, add butter and then mix and salt and pepper to taste Grin

CurlyMango · 02/09/2019 21:09

I love a hot orange squash too.

TokyoSushi · 02/09/2019 21:13

Paddy1234 · 02/09/2019 21:13

You should have seen my family table at the sweet cart at a wedding this weekend - three generations of us #other guests didn't get a look in

WhoKnewBeefStew · 02/09/2019 21:15

Pick and mix or any sucky sweets

I do love a good paper chase note book

I also love making lists and crossing things out with highlighter pens

TheCatsACunt · 02/09/2019 21:16

Can someone tell me about hot squash, please? Is it just the usually ratio of squash to water, but with boiled water?

heidbuttsupper · 02/09/2019 21:22

Love this thread!

I talk to myself all the time
I re-read my favourite childhood books recently
I talk to every dog I see

Iwantacookie · 02/09/2019 21:23

I love Disney and will often watch the films by myself.
I even have a Disney related tattoo.

Notagreatstart1234 · 02/09/2019 21:24

This might make me an outcast on MN but I love pretend play! I'm so relieved that I got a child who was actually interested in it!

Yes, I am a terrible deviant...

huntinghighandlow · 02/09/2019 21:26

TokyoSushi I'm so going to buy some character plasters tomorrow!!

RevealTheLegend · 02/09/2019 21:29

Dipdab Fans..

Have you tried mixing popping candy in with the sherbert?

Total gamechanger imho

Dizzywizz · 02/09/2019 21:30

Yes @TheCatsACunt! That’s exactly it, it’s yummy!

TheCatsACunt · 02/09/2019 21:32

Thanks @Dizzywizz, I’ll have to give it a go.

Graphista · 02/09/2019 21:34

"I love sweeties, especially the kind you buy weighed out from a big jar in the shop" oh wow! Nostalgia hit!

One place I lived (army brat) there was a corner shop on way to school. I'd meet my then bff at top of my street, we'd go in and get "a quarter" of whatever we fancied, things like kola kubes, strawberry lips, rhubarb and custard, cough candy etc ohhhh I miss shops like that!

"I love parma violets" I passed my love of these onto dd and now she's almost on a mission to introduce to all her friends. When she first got friendly with her bff, she came for tea at ours and dd gave her some to try and she loved them, excitedly went back home and told her about the "weird herbal sweets" she'd had at ours and I got a very odd message from her mum asking basically (but politely) what on earth I'd fed her dd! 😂.

When I explained she was both relieved and then excitedly asked where I'd bought them as she loved them and hadn't had any in years!

"What's egg in a cup? I think I know from grandma making it but don't know the technique" we call them Chucky eggs.

Soft (but not too soft) boiled eggs, then you mash them in a cup (wide necked mugs are best) with butter and salt. Real comfort food, we used to get this if we'd been poorly, supposedly as egg "binds" so reduces length of a diarrhoea spell? But of course eggs are also good sources of protein and iron which are essential for "recovering invalids" funnily enough if you don't use too much butter they're quite a satisfying low cal snack too. Came up in my ww group as a snack choice.

I'm not a Disney fan myself for lots of reasons but I hate it when others sneer at those who are! Its a pretty harmless interest for adults and generally doesn't affect the other adults sneering!

So to all of us enjoying "children's things" I say carry on! There are few guilt free joys in adult life and we'd probably all be a lot mentally healthier if we were left in peace to enjoy them!

"I like to make up silly names and songs to sing to the dog, who looks at me like I have lost my mind." You may well enjoy checking out clips of Gloria Estefan on Graham Norton singing "alternative lyrics" to her hits! They're mostly silly but occasionally cathartic addressing eg being annoyed with her husband! Also her mother raps in Spanish!

"Can someone tell me about hot squash, please? Is it just the usually ratio of squash to water, but with boiled water?" I use less squash when making it up hot, the heat seems to "release" the flavour - experiment till you find right ratio for you. Also don't use all just boiled water you'll burn your tongue! I find 2 parts hot to 1 part cold about right.

Zaphodsotherhead · 02/09/2019 21:36

I tell myself stories as I walk around and talk to the packets on the shelf in the shop where I work. I also have rebought and reread many of my childhood favourite books (chiefly the Swallows and Amazons, Jill and her ponies and Silver Snaffles).

I like snuggling up in my bed and imagining that I am on board a ship sailing away to a desert island.

Ilikethisone · 02/09/2019 21:36

I am laid in bed eating milk bottle sweets, watching Endgame for (at least) 50th time.

Bliss!Grin
