I think someone’s been in my flat when I’m out

I went to a BBQ in Saturday night and received a strange text from my DD who was home in her bedroom. She told me to stop stomping around as she was tired. I replied that I was miles away at a BBQ and she must have heard the neighbours

I thought no more of it and then I noticed someone today has come in and put a package on my bed and turned my fan on. Nothings been taken. Again my DD said she heard the door go and someone walking around and assumed it was me. But I have only just back from London

My DD is quite worried as she said it was so obviously someone in the flat she assumes it was me. She said I should get the locks changed as she thinks the former owners who lived here in 2016 could still have a key or even given it to someone else. It hasn’t even occurred to me to change the locks when I bought the flat. I guess that’s what I will have to do but how very odd. Nothing has been taken and they weren’t quiet about it.

The thing is. It may appear people are calm but the reason they are posting means they are not. In my case I was very anxious and worried about it but it’s hard to show how you feel in written words.

But if I was that worried I wouldn't consider writing on here. Sorry but what can we do to help?

Jenasaurus · 29/08/2019 08:19

Well in the doorbell case. A few posters advised me to get the ring doorbell and a motion sensor light. Both helped and I immediately got the items installed

Ah I remember that thread! Didn't realise you were the same poster.

Jenasaurus · 29/08/2019 08:21

I don’t have a significant other in my life and my parents are sadly no longer around. I am not blessed with many friends in RL and although I do discuss things with my DC by posting on a forum you receive a wider spectrum of views and sometimes it gives the back up you need to take action. I hate calling the police for things that may take them away from something else but when other posters said to do that I felt justified in doing so

It may not be the right thing to do and I know I share too much personal information but to be honest that is often prompted by people think you are making it up so in the doorbell case I felt compelled to share the police letter. Although I covered identifying words

It does appear someone has recognised me from a eBay forum called the Round arable from many years ago 2007 I used to post there so that is very strange

To be a liar you need to have a very good memory and I couldn’t keep up the pretence if that was the case

Anyway off to work now. Have a good day

Op don’t justify yourself, ignore the troll hunters they are very sad people that don’t seem able to empathise that someone may want to ask a forum for something unusual.

Jenasaurus · 29/08/2019 08:31

Thank you firecrotch69 Smile

Change the locks OP.

And don't watch the Hilary Swank film The Resident until you've done it.

LINK CONTAINS PLOT SPOILERS.

We were good mates
and no !

What ever happened to Dave ? I hope you kicked him into touch

Jenasaurus · 29/08/2019 09:07

Dave is long gone thank god. If you read my DDs posts you can see it ended pretty badly but that was always going to be the case he was not a nice man and I wasted 28 years of my life with him. I am intrigued who you are though 😀

Loose Tea made my DS a starbug cake. He was mad about Red Dwarf. He drove it down to my work from Manchester. I was shocked to discover he was a he. A really nice guy and the cake was excellent
