Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

This thread is 10% creative fantasy writing,
1% totally explainable. 89% pilfered from the Internet. I don’t get why people post stuff they’ve read elsewhere and pretend it’s them. No-one even knows who you are.

As a child my friends and I played in the cemetery beside our houses. We played in this huge building that was always full of leaves and random stuff that had blown in with the wind. It didn’t have a door, wasn’t a gravestone type thing, just this huge ancient stone building with big pillars and a step.

One day we went to play and it was gone, just gone! We looked for hours and hours and we never ever found it again. We never even found a patch of land where it would be.

Years later I’ve been to the cemetery and still can’t find it.

Two things spring to mind.

I sometimes get a feeling that I need to look at a digital clock to make a minute last eternally. As soon as a new minute starts, I can look at that clock and it will not change even after staring at it for over 10 minutes. As soon as I look away, it changes to the correct time.

I also had a photo album passed to me by my parents. We all looked through the photos together and found a really unusual one of me aged about 10 posing with my siblings - my parents even thought it was weird because although it was me, I had a 40cm long neck, strange eyes and other features. I have to say that we were all freaked out. I called my DH in from the room next door to come take a look but when we turned the pages back, it was not there - totally not there! We had all been sitting watching so nobody was playing tricks or anything. It still freaks us out now.

When I was a child I used to have vivid dreams. I still have them but now understand them as lucid dreams, a weird part of the health conditions I have.
Anyway.
I drempt I had walked into my sister's room, looked out the window and there was a hurricane outside. I started screaming and with every scream another hurricane would appear until they all mixed into one massive one. I woke up, stood above my sister's bed screaming the place down with my mum and sister beside me.
My mum rationalized it and said that as we lived in the UK that would never happen.
A month later there was a hurricane that swept through Birmingham across the West Midlands. My mum apologized to me lol.

I frequently have dreams of people being pregnant and then they are. To the point that when I have that dream now my friends all take pregnancy tests to be sure it's not them ha ha.

I also have a reoccurring dream of a holiday place, I've had this dream so often that I could map this place out. To my knowledge I have never been to this place in my life.

I am the most cynical person I know but now, having read all this, I am feeling too scared to take my dog out tonight!

KadieFae · 31/08/2019 21:29

When I was younger, I was staying at my Nan's house for the night, woke up once and I was in my bed at home, woke up again and I was back at my nans.

I was probably dreaming but it felt pretty trippy at the time!

Yeah, I think you’re right. I thought it would be chilling but have given up at Page 2 or 3 - I forget which. So boring and all about similar cars.

MardyMavis · 31/08/2019 21:45

Will read these later as love thongs like this...I've had a few the most recent was driving back our usual way....a song came on...few minutes later we ended up on some random road.
it took us back down to the village we had driven through to get home which is about 4 minutes from ours but....in that whole time we had to drive all the way back round the same song was still playing.
These are country roads that we've known for years but this road we ended up on was a mystery.

Jesaminecollins · 31/08/2019 21:47

I was right about the storm - we have had a terrific rain storm when I was out driving - I think this has been the wettest August I have ever known

VK456 · 31/08/2019 21:59

I can assure you, littletinybubbles, that I saw what I wrote about.

Which means that most of the time you're dreams are not premonitions no? If you’re of a certain age it’s pretty likely most of your friends will get pregnant at some point. It’s not a crazy unlikelyhood!

Orangecake123 · 31/08/2019 22:09

Not sure if this fits. A few days before I had a dream that I was followed by a group of boys. In my dream to get away I just stopped walking and walked back down the path so doubled back so they would be ahead of me.

A few days later I had come back from a birthday party even though it was late I only lived 20 mins away I decided to walk home. I saw a guy walking in front of me who seemed a bit odd but he disappeared so I didn't think of him anymore so I just carried on walking until I got this feeling and noticed that he was behind me. I walked faster he walked faster. I did the thing I saw myself do in the dream. That gave me a few moments to cross the road to the other side and I ran the rest of the way to the outside of my building which has lighting outside and thankfully also security.

On the local major A road today there was a lot of debris-quite unusual looking (including big red ratchet straps for towing/fallen off a lorry) and arranged in a really weird but random pattern at the side of the road, pattern of where things had fallen. We drive a mile or so up the road and exactly the same debris was there in the same weird but random pattern. Weird!

Me and a boyfriend were babysitting we heard about the Marchioness boat disaster on the radio news at midnight.. we later heard that the boat was not hit after 1am... we both just looked at each other

TwatCat · 31/08/2019 22:27

This morning I woke up having a nightmare about a spider on me.
Twice today I've had a spider drop onto my face.

I have had premonition dreams starting when I was a child. But I’m not a believer and the most no nonsense person so I did the best to ignore them. I’m not religious or spiritual.

I can only think it has some sort of matrix scientific reason.

TartanTexan · 31/08/2019 22:57

@Juog - you reminded me of a dream I had as a child of about 13.

One night I was in bed with my sister & my best friend. All having a sleepover together.

I dreamt the 3 of us went on a journey to visit a mutual friend. The dream was very vivid and we said ‘how funny we will never understand how this is possible & real’. It involved a long journey over a period of time with various adventures along the way.

In the morning we all could remember the dream & felt we’d mutually experienced something incredible. Like you we all knew all the details & could recount specific things.

It was really bonding & we’ve all remembered it.

A dream I have but only when I'm ill I was a very little girl aged about 3/4 and sat on the back of an old fashioned horse and cart with my sisters, in the dream the cart jolts forward and I fall off the back and am sat in the middle of a dirt track crying and calling out "mum" as the cart just keeps going, I always wake up crying

Pmarking, fascinating thread

GlamGiraffe · 31/08/2019 23:28

I go to places I've never been to before with DH driving and know exactly what is going to be around the corner before we turn. I can even tell him sometimes. DS has been able to do the same thing since he was about 3. Doesn't do it now hes grown up but did all through his childhood. Fully described people and places hed not yet visited with enormous accueacy- could even draw them.

I have dreams, especially earthquake dreams. I dream there has been one, and there has, in some far off remote location. Sometimes also dream of other weird things like siblings or plane crashes. Wake up and they're true.

Have irrational sudden ideas people are pregnant. They always are right. Ling before the people know themselves.

I'm very glitchy!

Possibly the first is a type of deja vu. Its believed to be provoked by extreme tiredness that causes the brain to run slow and catch up with itself at a delayed speed causing you to think something could have happened twice.

catinavan · 31/08/2019 23:38

Love these. Mine is weird. I made a friend at my child’s nursery and for some reason I felt like I’d known her forever, also made this instant assumption that she was a single parent- when in fact she was married.

I also had a dream where I was sitting at the kitchen table of her small flat drinking coffee. So was surprised when she invited me round for coffee and she lived in this massive house.

By the way none of this was me being judgy- I just felt I knew her story already, IYSWIM

A few years later she got divorced and moved into a flat and we were sitting at her kitchen table drinking coffee and I suddenly remembered all this and had this weird feeling that I was repeating something that I’d already done before, maybe many times over - like we’d been friends in a parallel universe or something

Still gives me shivers

If I try to rationalise it, I imagine maybe i am just quite intuitive and possibly picked up on signals that she was unhappy in her relationship, and sort of predicted the future, but that doesn’t really make sense either

GlamGiraffe · 31/08/2019 23:40

Ooh and here's a good one..how could I miss this....

Every day i got off the bus and walked to work which was next to my now DHs house. DH walked to his office opposite my bus stop at the same time every day meaning we crossed paths. He remembers noticing me because of the rather eye catching (bright red) uniform i used to wear every day. When i later met DH i discovered he lived in a house built by my dad when i was small, and he and his ex wife hot married in a local place where my sister and I used to go and watch the weddings when we were younger on weekends, in all likeness having seen his....

JammieHands · 01/09/2019 00:48

My now dh used to race motorcycles. One day we were at a track while he was putting in some practice, he came in to feed back to the team and was about to go back out when I had a horrible feeling about something and burst into uncontrollable tears. He didn't go back out that afternoon as it took forever to calm me down. He and the team were really angry, saying i was a distraction and how they'd lost valuable time. Went to load the bike on the truck and the front wheel came off. If that had happened while riding it would have been really nasty
