Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

Thank you @Zaphodsotherhead

If anyone remembers the gangly stickman story, I read the same one from the view of the friend's boyfriend on "it happened to me".

JacquesHammer · 10/09/2019 09:05

When I was really small I used to have the same “bad” dream. I wrote about it in my school news book (so margin, date title etc)

When i got to my teens I was into horror and read a book - had the same sequence of events as my dream in it. Checked when it was published and it was after the date I wrote the news.

Fun coincidence!

What's the gangly stick man story?

Kalim8 · 10/09/2019 13:37

It was in one of the old creepy threads think it's in classics now. A mumsnetter's friend said that when she was a student, she and her then boyfriend had been chased home late at night by a gangly creature that looked like a child's drawing of a stick man.

Moomin8 · 10/09/2019 17:23

@Kalim8 ah yes, that story. As you say, it was lifted from another site.

I've just remembered a rather odd one. When I was first with my partner/ wife (same sex rel to avoid confusion - we are both women) 12 years ago we lived a fair way away from each other and often talked on MSM.

One day - somehow at the end of a message I sent to her - appeared an attachment to a web link to a moderately well known media person - a woman I'd never heard of - I had no idea how it happened, I didn't know this person and typed: "oh that's odd sorry don't quite know how that happened".

She seemed to act rather strangely and asked me how I knew this woman - I explained that I didn't and had no idea who she was, it was just an accident. She asked me rather suspiciously why I had sent her the link. I reiterated that it was an accident, that I hadn't meant to, I was just typing, pressed send, and a link to this woman appeared with my message.

It turned out the reason she was so perturbed was because this woman had run off with a girlfriend of hers when they were all at university, it had been hugely traumatic and her and the woman in question were both now bitter enemies.

@Angel75 that’s so weird, a similar thing happened to me as a child. I was watching a news programme with my Dad when this presenter appeared on the screen. I was only 8 or 9 and couldn’t understand how he could be on television as he had died. I was shocked as I’d seen his death reported on tv and in the newspaper (he was a well known presenter) My Dad had trouble persuading me that he was in fact alive and well. It was years before I could watch him without feeling slightly odd.

I think I must have dreamed it all.

Mumsnet had a wee matrix blip there 😮

Perpetually You experienced the Mandela effect.

Very recently I had quite a heated discussion with my DB who was convinced that Des O Connor had died, he'd seen it reported on the news etc. In the end I had to Google and show him that Des is indeed still with us! I

Fairfax mine does it all the time, it drives me mad!

My sisters ex boyfriend had a similar dream on Boxing Day 2004 regarding an enormous flood and similar to PP was telling us about it over breakfast on the next morning when we heard all about it on the radio. A very odd coincidence.

spiderlight · 11/09/2019 10:53

There's a long low fence outside my dad's house. The morning of the Boxing Day tsunami, he woke up quite upset about a very vivid dream of people clinging to it, floating in water, reaching out to him and calling for help. He was very spooked when he put the radio on. It's almost as if death on that scale sends out ripples that some people pick up on subconsciously.

I went for a walk up the Liverpool "time Slip " street yesterday. Bold street. There is definitely a weird aura about the street, but I stayed firmly in 2019. 😄

My wierd experience was 27 years ago. It was an out of body experience so not really a matrix glitch. I'm still waiting to experience on of those.

I was 20. I had been away for the weekend before so was exhausted. It was a Monday evening and I'd been to work all day straight after dinner I'd gone upstairs to lie down on my bed. The next thing I know I'm floating and then stuck against the bedroom ceiling in the far corner of the bedroom looking down at my snoozing self.
What was weirder than the floaty feeling was seeing myself from an angle I'd never seen myself from before or I've seen since.
I could see the side if my face and the back of my head as a lay on my side. I could see my smudged mascara and naff unblended foundation line just infront if my ear.
My floaty self felt trapped. The bedroom ceiling was preventing me from floating further up. It was very bizarre and brief. The next thing I felt panicky and with a fast woosh I was back to the real me and sitting bolt up right in bed quite freaked out.

It's a long time ago now but am sure I wasn't dreaming as I was snoozing not sleeping. It was so real. I recall the coolness of the bedroom ceiling and also seeing the dusty light fitting from above.

Moomin8 · 11/09/2019 16:27

@GinandManic - I have a relative who used to experience this. It sounds quite scary.

Sconesat4 · 11/09/2019 17:01

@GinandManic

This is quite a common occurrence, usually due to trauma or a near death experience. Often people having surgery experience this. I once woke up and felt I was quickly puling myself back into my body, like a kite. I have never experienced that before or since. Astral travelling is a similar thing. The soul leaves the body and travels while the body is asleep.

GinandManic · 11/09/2019 19:28

Wow! Must have been a heavy weekend if I nearly died 😳

Not a glitch in the matrix, more a false memory. My daughter swears she can remember Matt Smith (Doctor Who coming into her school assembly and talking about the new serious coming up). She even remembers her friends asking him a question. She particularly re calls him saying. I used to go to this school and I remember those green curtains. I obviously can’t put the school but we live in Liverpool. On googling him it turns out he’s never lived or been to school here.
Turns out it never happened and none of her friends/class mates could remember it. Well of course they couldn’t it didn’t happen.[quote]]

There used to be a 15 minute behind the scenes type show about dr who on bbc3, and there was a hour long version when mat Smith was announced as the new doctor I vaguely remember him visiting his old school on one of them so your child might have seen that and got confused.

We had two lovely golden retrievers. Sadly one died so we were left with Betsy.

One evening, DH and I were sitting in the lounge and we saw a blonde shadow pass the lounge door. I said to DH that Betsy had just walked past the door and probably wanted to go out.

So I walked out to the kitchen but there was no sign of Betsy.

I walked back into the lounge and there was Betsy fast asleep on the armchair.

DH said she definitely hadn’t come back in and he’d also definitely seen the blonde shadow and we’d both even heard the tap tap of her nails on the laminate floor!

My glitch today....ignore the trolly I was trying not to get their faces in (both same hair colour and bob

And Betsy is between the two women!

I had one once when I was a student living in Halls. I'd gone back to my room after lectures about 4 o'clock and was lying on my bed reading. I was meant to be meeting some friends at 7 in the student union pub, but I was really tired so I ended up falling asleep while reading.

Woke up a bit later to find my light was on but it was dark outside. I thought that was a bit odd because I didn't remember switching the light on. When I checked my watch it was 7.30, and I couldn't be bothered to get up and head to the pub, so I read some more and ended off drifting back to sleep. Remember thinking "I should really turn the light off" but decided it was too much effort to get out of bed and anyway I'd probably wake up in another hour or so after a bit more nap.

Woke again to someone banging on my door. It was 6.45 and my friends were coming to get me to go to the pub. And my light was off!

I must have been half-dreaming for some of it or something, and misread the time and also switched the light on/off without waking. I definitely had read more of my book so I was awake at some point. Was odd to experience, though.

I had a weird one on Thursday, not a blip but more of a lucky escape. I leave home at 7.40am every morning, drive five minutes to head office where I pick up a company vehicle and head off to another branch in a different town 30 minutes away. I always leave head office at 7.50am on the dot. On Thursday however there was a slight issue with the company car (the seatbelt inexplicably took ages to click in place) which meant I set off a minute later than normal. 15 minutes into my journey on the motorway I could see an almighty calamity ahead of me - a massive truck on the opposite carriageway had just hit the central reservation and shed its load onto my side; if I'd been there a minute earlier it would have caught me for sure. Someone (and I'm not religious) was looking out for me that day! 😯

Giggorata · 28/09/2019 23:41

I have loads of odd and inexplicable experiences... I’ll start with this truly daft one. When DS was young, we used a bed wetting alarm, with a buzzer, to help him waken for peeing. (This was a long time ago)
One Saturday morning, we were all at breakfast, when DH recounted his dream. We were going into town on the market day bus, all of us sitting on the back seat, as usual. Suddenly, the buzzer went off. The bus driver stopped the bus, walked down to the back, hand over hand on each seat, until he got to us, and said “all right, who's wet the bed?” Then he woke up.
So, off we all went to town on the bus. Suddenly the buzzer went off! It had a distinctive sound, we all recognised it. The bus driver stopped the bus, walked down to the back, hand over hand on each seat, until he got to us, who were all goggling at him, wondering what the hell was going to happen.... and he said “please would you make sure the kids don't mess with the door mechanism.” We were next to the emergency exit and someone had knocked it... 😀
