Have you ever noticed a blip in the matrix?

When I was at university we were driving through and unfamiliar part of town. We noticed a school child running and then when he stopped another child further along the road started. This then happened again with a third child. They were in school uniforms, not sports kits and they didn’t seem to interact with each other. My friend noticed it too and at the time we couldn’t stop laughing. Has anyone else got any stories similar? Blips in the matrix.

I do know on MN story about someone seeing their older selves and then their younger selves outside their childhood home!

I live in an old hospital that’s been converted into flats, I quite often see things that I feel aren’t ghosts but time slips.

Out of the corner of my eye I often see a pair of legs with black flat shoes and black tights like nurses used to wear, in the communal gardens, just disappearing around a corner or behind a column or flowers. I wonder if a nurse keeps seeing me in her time and wonders who I am.

Aged 11, on holiday in Turkey with parents and DB.

DF gets out of the water and starts shouting angrily at a man & woman, then I noticed it was my own mother that the man was kissing.
Except it wasn't, my DM was on a lounger, she sat up when she heard DF's voice and asked him what was wrong?
It was crazy, the woman was identical to her, I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart.

Not-my-Mum then started shouting at my DF, either Spanish or Portuguese, because to her, some strange English man just started shouting at her and her DH while they were having a kiss & cuddle Grin

But it just struck me as strange, that two people from entirely different countries, booked a holiday a third country at the same time, ended up at the same place, and were physically identical.

What a fascinating thread. Mine isn't very exciting but I thought I'd share anyway. When I was a child, probably around 8 or 9 I used to read in bed by myself and one night I read the story of Grace Darling who lived in a lighthouse and helped survivors of a shipwreck. It was a school book with multiple short stories in and I remember the illustrations, the lighthouse, the boat and Grace carrying a lantern.

The next day at breakfast I sat and described the story to my parents who had heard of Grace Darling. However when my mum came to write in my school reading book the story wasn't in the book I'd been given and we looked in all the other books I could find but could not find the story. I'm sure there is an explanation but we were baffled and it's always intrigued me!

My husband and I are big enter Shikari fans and my husband came home and played their new song and I sang along and swore I heard it before, but had only been released that day!

Also something I find weird, my grans parents are brother were in a plane that mysteriously disappeared over the Bermuda triangle! Not sure if that counts as a glitch though

Hanywany · 31/08/2019 17:46

Growing up, there was a corner shop I used to go to for sweets. It was run by a man and a woman.

Recently moved back to the area, more than 30 years have now passed. Popped into the corner shop and the same man was working there. Another day popped in and was served by the same woman.

Nothing particularly odd about that...apart from the fact that neither of them appear to have aged. Like seriously, they look exactly the same and not really old enough to have been adults working there over 30 years ago.

Every afternoon the shop closes for an hour and I believe this is when they regenerate Grin

Definite blip here, it's the third time I've tried to post this, and it's disappeared. I knew a lady and her mother quite well, we lived in the same street. I moved across town, so didn't see them very often. One morning I was crossing the road in the town centre, and the mother was crossing in the other direction. She was wearing her usual black and white checked coat, pulling her shopping trolley.
Half an hour later I met her daughter in the bakers, and asked how she was. She said her mother had died last Tuesday.

Lucindainthesky · 31/08/2019 18:04

Another one which happened to my parents.

They were in a department store and took the escalator from the first floor down to the ground floor to leave the shop. When they got off however, they were somehow in the basement. Neither of them could understand it. The logical explanation is obviously that they got distracted and walked round again and went down another flight on autopilot, but they were both adamant that they didn't. My dad in particular is not at all woo and he was very confused by it. I went to the shop a few days later as wanted to go on this strange escalator but it was cordoned off out of order!

I was living and working in a really middle of nowhere place in France and decided it was time to move on. Flew back from the small local airport to the uk, but just before we were to take off we were all asked to get off the plane. Due to heavy snow we couldn't fly. I ended up making alternative plans with another British guy to make our way to the ferry port to get home. After that thought I would never see him again.
Several months later I moved to Germany and had two German flat mates. One was going away for the summer and sublet her room to someone she had corresponded with online. It turned out to be the British guy from the airport!

Another time I was traveling alone in Asia and my card got rejected and I didn't have any money. I had a boat ticket and just decided to get on the next boat and started speaking to some other tourists to see if they could help me out. Some lads took me under their wing and let me tag along in a taxi to their hotel and call my bank from their Skype. We actually hung out for a few days until we parted ways.
A year later I bumped into the guy in my hometown who stopped to ask me for the time. He was from Israel and was just in the UK for a very specific event. I can't believe of all the people to stop on the street it was me!!

WaitroseCarpark · 31/08/2019 18:19

Years ago I went to the front page of flickr and to my suprise saw photos of myself in a bed I didn't recognise. Who's bed was it? So I looked at the user profile and the picture had been deleted. I can only assume it was someone that was an absolute dead ringer for me, as I mistook them for myself. And doubly weird was that literally it was the only photo that had been deleted from the user profile. Should've made a note of it at the time.

Yaflamingalah · 31/08/2019 18:23

I’m not sure if this is a blip in the Matrix but it’s a bit weird anyway; when I was about 7 or 8 my brother and I were in the car with my mum and dad. My brother had just got a set of trivia cards and kept on quizzing me. Being 7 or 8 I didn’t know any of the answers and wasn’t really interested. He then asked me “who invented the flying machine?” And I automatically said “Leonardo Da Vinci” in a bored voice. I had no idea that Da Vinci was also an inventor and there was no way I’d have had that knowledge at 7 or 8.

TitsInAbsentia · 31/08/2019 18:31

@Rachbrown16

The song doesn't surprise me that much as a lot of radio play is given to new tracks before they are officially released these days, so you could well have heard it before....

BUT WHOAH!! Bermuda Triangle you say?! Tell us more!

NaviSprite · 31/08/2019 18:32

I don’t class this as woo but rather an interesting (to me anyway) story of how my subconscious tried to soothe me after the death of my Grandfather.

He raised me from being a baby (not sure of the exact age) until he passed when I had just turned 15. After his death and funeral, I dreamt of him every night, a recurring dream that started at the wake we had for him - everybody was in the living room of the house I grew up in (as they were on the day) and he suddenly walked in through the front door. Nobody else was surprised by it as it was as though they were expecting him and everybody welcomed him home, somebody gave him a drink (he was a big fan of brandy) and then after they had settled him in each person took turns speaking with him about his life. Every time it came to my turn I would wake up.

After the initial grieving period which took me a couple of years to recover from fully, the dream stopped being so frequent. It only happened sporadically when I was under emotional stress - exactly the same every time.

I continued having this dream throughout my life until I had my DC (twins) the night they had been taken to a hospital miles away and I had to stay in the local hospital as they didn’t have sufficient number of staff on the ward so nobody to go with me as a transferred patient. One of the hardest nights of my life knowing my tiny fragile babies who had been born premature and very low weight, were miles away and I couldn’t see them. Then came the dream and when it came to my turn to speak with my Grandad I said “thank you Dadi (our name for him pronounced Dad-eye) but you’re not supposed to be here are you?” He smiled at me and said “they’ll be okay”, he got up and walked out of the front door of the house and then I woke up. Not had it since (and I’ve been through a far more emotionally distressing time since) I think my subconscious knew at that point I didn’t need the comfort of that dream anymore? Who knows? We named DS after him too Smile

Rachbrown16 · 31/08/2019 18:42

@TitsInabsentia interesting but rarely listen to the radio!

So I don't know much about it because my gran finds it hard to talk about and I know that I shouldn't push for information. Basically her dad did fought in the war I think, and she decided she didn't want to go with them, and yeah, typical B-Tri coms went down and no trace.
I can't find anything online either but the surname was Grant and actually would love to find out more!
I always wonder if the B-Tri has some time travel aspect and one day they'll find their way to this era and see my gran before she dies!

silenceofthemams · 31/08/2019 18:48

Sat on a train headed to a concert with my cousin and three other friends. We sat in comfortable silence. I was thinking of a question I was going to ask my cousin, when all of a sudden he just answered the question!!! He swore I said it aloud, everyone else confirmed I hadn't.

Deffo a matrix blip!

Juog · 31/08/2019 18:53

When my dad was a teenager she came down early one morning to find me in the kitchen she had been woken by a dream where she met me in an old hotel,I had had the same dream and met her in the hotel, we even knew what we were talking about in the dream, these dreams lasted a couple of years,we used to describe furniture and fittings in the hotel.

Juog · 31/08/2019 18:53

That should of been darling daughter.

zen1 · 31/08/2019 19:19

@Lucindainthesky , the shop wasn’t in Gloucestershire was it?

moolady1977 · 31/08/2019 19:58

I was heavily pregnant at the time with my dd and my df had just passed away it was Sunday afternoon at 2:15, I was sat in my living room and had a strange urge to go outside so I did and looked up the street towards my dms house to see my df walking from the corner or her street up to the gate and through it, I flew into the house and rang my dm saying she needed to put the kettle on as my df had just gone up the house path,

Apricot10 · 31/08/2019 20:07

Okay here goes. I have weird premonitions. They happen like day dreams and I watch the whole thing play out like a movie then it comes true in a round about way.
One "daydream" was that my friend dropped my DD and her DD off at Brownies and she didn't walk them inside when they got through the door no one was there, so they walked home (20 mins walk) and they knocked on my front door, and obviously I went mad. (This didn't happen this is what I daydreamed)
That evening we got an email from Brown Owl saying please in future can all parents walk there girls into the front door as two Brownies were dropped in the car park, (late) had gone into reception, no one was there (as they had all gone into the hall). The girls in questions left and walked home. Not my DD and friend but two Brownies from her group! I had told my friend about my daydream before we got the email, she know thinks I am a witch! Grin

Half an hour later I met her daughter in the bakers, and asked how she was. She said her mother had died last Tuesday

I think it's possible that there are "natural recordings" and if someone does the same thing all the time, it kind of becomes the fabric of the house or street or whatever.

When I was small we lived in a bungalow that had been built in the 1920s or maybe 30s. My father was not the type to believe in ghosts. But both he and my mum said that they saw, on more than one occasion, a woman in a grey hood walking across the lounge and disappearing into the fireplace. They never mentioned it to each other but did mention it to work colleagues of my fathers years later. It was always exactly the same, which made me wonder if it was a kind of recording which "came on" when the atmospherics etc were right.

berlinbabylon · 31/08/2019 20:18

They were in a department store and took the escalator from the first floor down to the ground floor to leave the shop. When they got off however, they were somehow in the basement. Neither of them could understand it because the escalator went straight to the basement?

I had something similar happen when I was living in Frankfurt. My husband-to-be used to visit me every other weekend and I could never understand why I was never in the right place to meet him. It was simply that he had no hold luggage and the escalator used to take him past the floor I was waiting on, because he didn't need to go via baggage reclaim. But I didn't realise until the very end of my stay there and I flew in myself without hold luggage.

TypingoftheDead · 31/08/2019 20:24

This is a fairly mundane one, total coincidence, but one morning I dreamt I was on a cliff edge looking out to see. It was a glorious sunny day, and the general scene was like those off the old travel posters. Suddenly, a plane flew over and crashed into the sea, flapping it's wings sadly as it went down.
Later that day, the story of the footballer who had just transferred to another club (don't remember his name) whose plane had gone into the sea was on the news.
