Another Dr here. DH also has a PhD but it is always assumed he is Mr wheras I always get asked so we get some official letters to Mr and Dr Grin. DC have no problem with me having a different name to them but I wish I'd followed the Icelandic tradition and given the DDs my surname. DH might have insisted on more of an input for their first names though!

@Sparklyring - I don't understand why people who use Ms use it so people don't know their marital status?!

And I don't understand why people feel the need to advertise their marital status.

I'm proud to be Mrs DH Surname

It's hardly a major achievement! I'm proud of lots of things but snagging a man is not really up there.

would hate either of us to have a separate name to our kids.

Why? Neither I, dh nor my dc have any issue with having different surnames. Most of my friends are the same.

I also know no body who actually uses it in real life.

Interestingly, the only women in my social circle who don't use Ms use Dr.
