Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

Governments are run/puppeteered by a global secret society.

The Iraq war was fought over oil and resources.

Brittany Murphy and her husband no way died of 'pneumonia' within months of each other. I find that case quite weird actually.

I thought they died from mould? Due to my line of work, I know a lot about mould and how dangerous it can be.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 19/05/2019 08:57

I disbelieve almost all of the conspiracy theories. However, the moon landings just don’t look real to me.

Also, there were so many people on the project who died ‘in mysterious circumstances’ shortly afterwards. Absolutely loads of them.

Rockbird · 19/05/2019 08:57

Gareth Williams was the man in the hold-all. Still makes me shudder.

sluj · 19/05/2019 09:02

Surely Jill Dando wouldn't have been the only one aware of any paedo ring she may have uncovered? Wouldn't there have been a team of researchers who also knew?
I dont get that one but I also dont know why anyone would have wanted to kill her.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 19/05/2019 09:07

@sluj I agree with you. She would have been working as part of a team who would have all known about the investigation.

I think Jill was killed by a crazed fan.

dudsville · 19/05/2019 09:09

That there is a group of powerful men behind it all. And I suggest a strong clue as to who they might be is the membership of the 1% holding most of the world's wealth.

BarkandCheese · 19/05/2019 09:13

It’s not exactly a conspiracy theory, but I believe that Yuri Gagarin wasn’t the first person to go into space. He was the first person to go into space and come back alive. I believe the USSR sent others up before him but they died due to issues with their craft.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/05/2019 09:13

They sent dogs and monkeys!

Ladymargarethall · 19/05/2019 09:14

I think Jill Dando was killed by a Serbian hitman. The way the Police considered it but didn't follow it up suggests someone (much) higher up stopped the investigation.
I also don't believe David Kelly committed suicide and the man in the holdall was decidedly suspicious.

@Zebraantelopegiraffe you can get a direct flight from Johannesburg to São Paulo. And to Melbourne/Sydney from Jo'burg too. All Southern Hemisphere.

Ohnotanothernamechange · 19/05/2019 09:27

There is a conspiracy theory that some Italian brothers managed to listen in on the failed Russian space missions. You can find the recordings on YouTube, and they even if they are a hoax they are as creepy as fuck.

The Russians also took photos of their cosmonauts and then airbrushed ones who'd been killed out. This is also really creepy.

The Americans on the other hand were really open about stuff that went wrong during the space race.

SystolicSyster · 19/05/2019 09:34

You can't fly direct from a country in southern hemisphere to another - like south America to Africa etc

You can definitely fly between different countries in southern hemisphere. Eg. Australia to New Zealand, and plenty of flights in between African, South American and South Asian countries.

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 19/05/2019 09:40

Yep noted. Already said I was wrong

Herland · 19/05/2019 09:44

I love a conspiracy theory. The best conspiracy theories are the ones that are not too outlandish. So the royal family being lizards is clearly tosh, but the illuminati would make sense. The world as we know it has been built by men in dark rooms conspiring for power and money.

I do believe that some medicines are withheld to increase revenue for pharma companies.

Lweji · 19/05/2019 09:44

You can't fly direct from a country in southern hemisphere to another - like south America to Africa etc

To start with, it should have been continents, not countries.Hmm
And, yes, can do.

Lweji · 19/05/2019 09:46

and the man in the hold-alll were not suicides

That's hardly a conspiracy theory, as it's so obvious.

BlackCatSleeping · 19/05/2019 09:50

I heard that there was no way they had the technology to fake the moon landings back then. It’s extremely hard to fake weightlessness, so I don’t believe they were faked.

I wonder how so many unaccompanied minors to the US have disappeared and where they are. How can the government not know? Have many of the children been trafficked?

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 19/05/2019 09:58

It’s extremely hard to fake weightlessness, so I don’t believe they were faked.

If you speed the footage up of them walking on the moon, they are walking normally.

easterholidays · 19/05/2019 10:01

I think more than 72 people died in Grenfell Tower but that some were undocumented and therefore unidentified.

I agree with everyone else on David Kelly and Gareth Williams, and with those who said that the US government had intelligence they failed to act on ahead of 9/11.

easterholidays · 19/05/2019 10:03

@GirlRaisedInTheSouth I don't agree! You can still see the lower gravitational pull.

mindproject · 19/05/2019 10:07

The freemasons are a devil worshipping cult, at the bottom of the pyramid, Satan is at the top. The rest of us aren't on the pyramid. I believe that one, and I'm an atheist.

GirlRaisedInTheSouth · 19/05/2019 10:07

@easterholidays, it’s just a theory (not mine). However, can you see the flag flapping in your video Grin ?

SaskiaRembrandt · 19/05/2019 10:25

I believe the one that says conspiracy theories are a conspiracy to distract from what's really going on.

mindproject · 19/05/2019 10:28

Some of them are. Some of them taking people down a blind alley.

I feel a little bit sorry for people who only believe what they are told to believe (mainstream media) and never question things or try and see what is really going on.
