Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

Wow Bishop... Dando theory is interesting

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/05/2019 16:04

Bishop I believe you and agree.

easterholidays · 19/05/2019 16:11

@catlady999 That's a convincing statement, I take back my Grenfell post above.

IrmaFayLear · 19/05/2019 16:22

CTs are very entertaining, and you can get sucked in to all the chatter on Reddit etc.

However, some of them and the people who stoke them are quite disgusting. I've read that some of the Sandy Hook victims' families have been stalked and verbally abused; one father was accosted and asked to prove his child existed.

Conspiracy theorism does attract some seriously unbalanced people who find each other on the internet and get each other riled up about... usually nothing.

Outofinspiration · 19/05/2019 16:43

I don't understand how people believe they never went to the moon. There is so much evidence to suggest they did, and not really anything concrete to prove otherwise. Plus, think about how many people would have needed to be involved in that sort of cover up and never blab about it?

I'm also slightly Hmm at this idea that Grenfell tower was overflowing with hundreds of illegal immigrants.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/05/2019 16:45

@Herland I've pm'd you the specifics.
@DobbyTheHouseElk I think you're already up to speed so won't message you 😉

Outofinspiration · 19/05/2019 16:46

A recent interview with head of NASA gave me further doubts when he said that the reason we haven’t been back is because we have lost the rocket technology that we had back then and can’t make a rocket big enough

What do you mean 'lost the technology'?

Outofinspiration · 19/05/2019 16:48

The Marconi deaths are quite weird.

thenightsky · 19/05/2019 17:00

Bishop Please may I have a pm re the dando theory?

BishopBrennansArse · 19/05/2019 17:04

Yep, that's sent

GimmeBread · 19/05/2019 17:10

The moon landings of 1969. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. I can't BELIEVE I've actually voiced that. I always used to be a staunch believer but I recently watched a doc and was horrified to find myself thinking "hmmm".

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 17:10

What do you mean 'lost the technology'?

I’m sure I’ve read they have lost the technical skills & experience as the older engineers have retired. The US space program has had different priorities depending upon which administration has been in charge & I believe it’s not a particular priority with the American public to go back to the moon so the budget is very restricted.

Justyou · 19/05/2019 17:13

Bishop could I have pm too please, I’ve spoken to someone recently who I think meant very similar to you

thenightsky · 19/05/2019 17:15

Yes... the Marconi deaths are quite something!

fancynancyclancy · 19/05/2019 17:17

I think it’s a bit similar to Concorde, it doesn’t make sense that we had the capacity to travel that fast in the mid 70s (& how advanced the technology actually was) but we don’t now. However I’ve read that the priority within the flight industry now is bigger, more fuel efficient planes not faster planes.

MockerstheFeManist · 19/05/2019 17:20

The Moon Landing Conspiracy is difficult to fathom. Just what is it they say did happen? Was there a Saturn V rocket? Did it launch? Did it leave earth orbit and reach lunar orbit. Did the lunar module separate and descend, then acsend and dock minus its legs, as shown? And what's with all this photography from lunar orbit?

www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/LRO/news/apollo-sites.html

More to the point, Why? Why not just land on the moon, it would be so much cheaper and easier, with the millions of people that needed to be assassinated to keep the secret still alive?

(Per-lease!)

HoppityChicken · 19/05/2019 17:21

The Jeffrey Archer connection to Jill Dando one was good.

GimmeBread · 19/05/2019 17:27

I know @MockerstheFeManist - how could they silence the 100s if not 1000s of people who would have been involved?

It's the physical evidence against the actual landings that has thrown me. The shadows, the lack of surface disturbances etc

pinkoneblueone · 19/05/2019 17:28

Bishop please can you send me your theory too as I am interested and believe what you are saying. I so wish she had gotten to expose those involved.

RainbowSparklyTrainers · 19/05/2019 17:34

David Kelly didn’t commit suicide. I once spent hours and days reading all the testimony’s in the report and the ambulance people testified that his blood spatters were not consistent with his supposed suicide. There was loads more but I read this over ten years ago. Poor man. Fucking Blair.

I think we can all agree that Lee Harvey Oswald was a patsy and that JFK’s murder was an inside job.

It’s fact that America flew the Bin Laden family out of the US just after 9-11. And that they armed Al Queda. So....

MockerstheFeManist · 19/05/2019 17:35

Does Australia Exist?

There are people who say they've been there, but how do they know?

Maybe they were all secretly taken to a secret island secretly to hide the fact that there is no Australia, and never was.

AnyoneButAnton · 19/05/2019 17:38

The logistics behind a faked moon landing absolutely defeats me. How many people would know the truth vs how many people would be dupes doing their best on a fake product? And why? Enormous numbers of well-qualified scientists and engineers think it was possible to reach the moon (four times). Are they lying and it wasn’t ever possible because why? aliens? Is the ISS meant to be fake too? What about the Mars robots?

exWifebeginsat40 · 19/05/2019 17:38

that beards are now being actively discouraged because Facial Recognition software can’t track people.

think about advertising - 6 months ago, beards for everyone! now, it’s all about clean-shaven again.

makes you think, innit.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/05/2019 18:01

Bishop I don’t know if my theory is the same as yours. But I have some thoughts.

Ohnotanothernamechange · 19/05/2019 18:05

I think I know what you are getting at Bishop
