Game of Thrones - Who's dying at Winterfell? SPOILERS

BearSoFair · 22/04/2019 17:26

So the big battle episode is next week...I am not ready! Who do you think is dying there? 2 episodes without any deaths, they must be gearing up for a bloodbath. DH and I have been discussing it a lot (nothing better to do with our extra day off!) and our list is:

Davos
Pod
Theon
Grey Worm or Missandei. I say Grey Worm, DH says Missandei.
Beric
Gendry

Also worried about Tormund, Brienne (which would break my heart!), and Jorah. Maybe even Bran, depending on exactly how connected he and the Night King are.

It feels like the rest all have a clear purpose moving forward and storylines that make sense beyond Winterfell so are probably safe for now. But I know how much this show likes to shock so I'm trying to prepare for every outcome!

God it's going to kill me, pregnancy hormones all over the show.

Sam will die as I don't think there's much use for him plot wise now he's told Jon.

novasglowx · 23/04/2019 20:30

The actor who plays Davos is at Wales Conic Con this weekend. I'm going to tell him he's not allowed to die Grin

Ewitsahooman · 23/04/2019 20:36

I want Davos and Lyanna Mormont to be besties.

Something is DEFINITELY going down in the crypts. The s8 trailer showed Arya running about it scared shitless

drogon1 · 23/04/2019 20:45

@pcohle has Gendrys story really finished though? He is one of 3 characters with a legitimate claim to the throne..

NuclearReactor · 23/04/2019 21:00

The trailer of the crypts showing Arya,Sansa and Jon looking at their statues was chilling!!! Seems like they are the night kings target as well as Bran. I'm not quite understanding what the hell is going on with Bran though because he's 'not himself anymore'.

SemperIdem · 23/04/2019 21:11

I find the fuss around Arya’s consensual sex scene irritating.

There was less over Sansa being raped after a forced marriage.

twattymctwatterson · 23/04/2019 21:18

Targs only ever breed with other Targs no that's not the case at all. Targs often married other Targs but actually married out of the family more commonly.
Rhaegar's first wife was Elia Martell. They had two kids. Aerys grandmother married a Baratheon and his first cousin was Robert Baratheon's father.

Pipps35 · 23/04/2019 21:19

I don’t want anyone to die!

Jamie
Greyworm
Theon
Tormund 😭😭😭
Edd
Jorah

Are all gonners next week IMO

twattymctwatterson · 23/04/2019 21:24

I think next week we will definitely see Theon, Brienne, Jorah and Podrick go. I'm reasonably confident all of the Starks are end game characters but if not Arya will probably be the one to die.

The Lannister brothers and the Hound all have unfinished business in Kings Landing but will all die in Kings Landing. I think Davos will survive to the end and serve as Hand.
Jaime will die doing something incredibly heroic as will Theon.
Sad to say I think Gendry's a goner but hope I'm wrong.
I imagine Winterfall will be lost but the characters will be able to pull back to dragon stone somehow. Agree that the crypts are not safe

OneInAMillionYou · 23/04/2019 21:28

Like many other posters I am so fed up with the darkness of virtually every scene! I can't get the brightness of my TV to go any higher!

Apparently there is a winter/snow storm brought with the dead, which will make it even harder to see! 🙄

I know they are trying to be 'Authentic' but why make us care about the bloody show if we can't see what is happening? I've watched a few analysis videos on You Tube where people have brightened the images using software and there is SO much I would have missed with just viewing it on TV.

If Arya dies, said TV is going out of the window.

Aberforthsgoat · 23/04/2019 21:31

I’m hoping that the deaths subvert the expectations that have been set up - so Brienne doesn’t die, Arya and gendry don’t die (I will be gutted if this happens, they are like my little bright spark along with Brienne and Jaime), greyworm doesn’t die...

I think Bronn will rock up in the thick of it and immediately fight for the living - perhaps he will end up killing a reanimated undead Lannister brother...

I hope Dany goes first although I doubt she will.

I’m hoping Gendry being a Baratheon has more weight in the story although at this point it seems like all the houses/rivalry etc is being completely disregarded so perhaps not. Maybe I just like him because he’s a hot blacksmith with a soft side. Maybe, but you can’t prove it Grin

I like the idea of the starks somehow being linked to the white walkers

I think Sansa and Theon could be goners.
I like the idea of Sansa being brought back by the red woman.
I also like the idea of the Hound bringing someone back -
Maybe Arya?! He did see something in the flames and he’s been drinking more than usual - channelling Thoros perhaps? If he starts wearing his hair in a topknot we will know for sure Grin

ImogenTubbs · 23/04/2019 21:36

Brienne's a gonner for sure, also agree about Greyworm. Think Beric still has a role to play in the Lord of Light / Prince who was promised prophecy storyline - he was brought back to life so many times for a reason. He will die for sure but not before somehow illuminating that prophecy. Melissandre will also be back for that and Varys and the Hound will also have a role to play.

Think Dany will buy it too. She'll go dark (they are teeing that up) and either die because of that or have a redemption moment (saving Jon probably) and then die.

I think Sansa will survive until the end.

I'm also awaiting the return of Robin Arryn somehow...

ppppppickupapenguin · 23/04/2019 21:37

I wonder if bran is killed, will he manage to warg into something/someone else just before he dies (a la the wildling who warged into the eagle when John killed him)

FintyTin · 23/04/2019 21:44

I agree with AfterLaughter about Arya stealing Jaime’s face to off Cersei. Cersei has been sure that the prophecy indicated Tyrion would kill her, but as the younger twin Jaime is also technically her little brother.
I read an interview saying that Maisie Williams is right-handed but has had to learn to sword-fight left-handed as Arya. Why go to that bother if it isn’t an important plot point? Who else now fights left-handed since his right one was lopped off...? There’s the obvious size difference, but taking on a face also seems to mean taking on other physical attributes...but the ability to switch hands?
I may be over-thinking this.

PCohle · 23/04/2019 21:49

Has Gendrys story really finished though? He is one of 3 characters with a legitimate claim to the throne..

He's an unlegitimised bastard though so his claim isn't great.

I also think GoT is less about birth and more about power and who's prepared to take it (a la Robert's rebellion itself). Gendry has shown no interest or skill in claiming the throne and I don't think anyone's about to magnanimously just hand it to him.

LunaMay · 23/04/2019 21:55

With only a few episodes left does anyone think we will see Meera Reed again? I think i would like to know if they survive the walkers/war. Isn't her father one of the few that may be able to confirm Jon's parentage?

I'm loving all these theories, especially the possibility of dead Starks joining the cause.

Huntlybyelection · 23/04/2019 22:02

If Tormund or Brienne die I won't be able to watch it any more. The only thing getting me through this is the hope of them having babies. And maybe Brienne setting up a whole new gang of honourable knights.

I can quite happily lose Grey Worm and Dolorous Ed.

And Danaerys.

Nobody else. Thank you.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/04/2019 22:40

I've watched a few analysis videos on You Tube where people have brightened the images using software

Oneinamillion is there a link to that?

Thanks

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 23/04/2019 22:46

There was so much foreshadowing that I can't help but feel like some of it will have been purposeful misdirection.

Feeling very conflicted about the next episode, and have spent far too much time reading the GoT reddit.

TheCraicDealer · 23/04/2019 23:59

People I think are gonners-

  • Melissandre/Grey Worm - one or other. More likely Melissandre down in the "very safe" crypts. The other one has to live for it to be sad because no one cares that much about their characters individually.
  • Davos
  • Lyanna Mormont
  • Pod [sob]
  • Jorah
  • Tormund or Brienne- as much as I love the Jaime/Brienne/Tormund love triangle, I can't see it lasting any longer.
  • Gilly
  • Edd
  • Beric

People I think will make it to Ep4-

  • Jaime. Honestly think he'll be the one to kill Cersei. And I could see his "dying in the arms of the woman I love" wish coming true at the end, but with Brienne not Cersei.
  • Tyrion. Got to be some turnaround for him and everyone calling him stupid in the last few episodes.
  • The Hound. Because Cleganebowl.
  • Varys. Think he will play a part in the Jon/Daenerys power struggle to come.
  • Jon. See above.
  • Daenerys. See above.
  • Arya and Gendry. I could see them being the one romance that works out, and they didn't bring Gendry back just for a rattle with Arya.

My theory is that the Night King will send some of his army down to Winterfell and the other lot will keep heading south to Kings Landing. Jon et all will score a narrow victory, and in the meantime the Night King will launch an attack on Kings Landing and pretty much wreck the place (like Daenerys' vision). Jon et all will attack from behind and win narrowly again, and then Jaime etc will find Cersei holed up like Hitler in his bunker and kill her for being a twat, making the prophecy come true. No idea who'll take the iron throne, but sure.

itswinetime · 24/04/2019 09:49

I think the night king will be at winterfell the actor that plays him did an interview recently where he said Jon and the night king have a similar interaction to the one in the battle of hardhome but bigger that has to be during the battle of winterfell, I think. He says the night king is after someone or something so I think the battle is a bit of misdirection (also the idea he is after Bran yo obvious) from him but he will be there or near by.

Interview if anyone is interested.

Huntlybyelection · 24/04/2019 10:48

Could he be after a sword? Ned Starks sword? Ancient sword of winterfell, made.of valyrian steel so will kill the white walkers but in the hands of the night king will destroy the world?

So Jaime and Brienne, who each have half the sword, are in danger.

This theory is based on nothing other than the comment above that says the NK is after someone or something. Bran and the sword?

Just let Brienne and Tormund live, that's all I ask.

I'll even say cheerful to Gilly, Sam and young Sam.

And everyone down in the safe safe crypts.

WillGymForPizza · 24/04/2019 10:50

Does anyone else think that Dany has inherited her fathers madness?

LindsayDentonsWineBottle · 24/04/2019 11:15

Yes, I think Dany is going to go down the same road as her dad.

The power is changing her, and not for the better.

It would make my year if Ned Stark was some how resurrected! Unlikely, but, you never know...
