Game of Thrones - Who's dying at Winterfell? SPOILERS

BearSoFair · 22/04/2019 17:26

So the big battle episode is next week...I am not ready! Who do you think is dying there? 2 episodes without any deaths, they must be gearing up for a bloodbath. DH and I have been discussing it a lot (nothing better to do with our extra day off!) and our list is:

Davos
Pod
Theon
Grey Worm or Missandei. I say Grey Worm, DH says Missandei.
Beric
Gendry

Also worried about Tormund, Brienne (which would break my heart!), and Jorah. Maybe even Bran, depending on exactly how connected he and the Night King are.

It feels like the rest all have a clear purpose moving forward and storylines that make sense beyond Winterfell so are probably safe for now. But I know how much this show likes to shock so I'm trying to prepare for every outcome!

I think Ayra might die.

Snapespeare · 22/04/2019 21:39

Ayra might die, but wearing Brans (of All -Brans) face.

weaselwords · 22/04/2019 21:46

If Lyanna Mormont dies, I shall stop watching.

Oooh love these theories. I agree Dani’s response to Jon’s news was odd. Surely you’d be a bit upset your new boyfriend was your nephew??

Love the Arya with Bran’s face idea. Something significant has to happen with the face changing thing surely??

Yes to the dead starks rising up in the crypt! As Tyrion is going to be down in the crypt maybe he’ll get to be the hero / lead the attack to save the children. Or maybe he’ll die trying.

Also yes the ice dragon doesn’t seem to be worrying them as much as it should be. Bran mentioned it so they know or he knows about it.

Random question does Bran remind anyone else of Noel Fielding? Especially when he deadpan says “I’m the three eyed raven”.

winewolfhowls · 22/04/2019 22:10

I think arya has had it now too, combine the face changing ability with the sex scene and she's a goner. Also because she is a loner and not really part of the whole game of thrones, and therefore redundant after this battle.
However I think it will be her spear that kills the night king by dislodging the dragonglass in his heart, but someone else will wield it, preferably theon. They both die and their arcs are fulfilled.

I am rooting for Ed to survive.
Think flaming sword guy is also for the chop.

hellenbackagen · 22/04/2019 22:16

I didn't think the battle would happen so soon I to the season!!

God
It's
Fabulous.

Hoggytat · 22/04/2019 22:29

I think Bronn is going to kill Tyrion. Maybe not this next episode but before the end.

As for next episode: Greyworm, Gilly, Theon, Jorah, Jaime, Pod & Beric

TheABC · 22/04/2019 22:32

I think 50% of the main characters are going to die. Danearys will survive with some of her forces intact, purely to drive the rest of the series forward. Otherwise, Cersai will just roll over them, unchecked - not exactly great storytelling for the remaining five episodes. Jon has no real interest in the iron throne and he sounded appalled at the thought of living in Kings Landing.

My personal feeling is that the Night King's forces will go down, but he will fly off. He is too juicy a bad guy just to kill off in one battle! It will be poetic justice if Cersai ends up fighting him.

Whitewaters · 23/04/2019 00:04

Surely you’d be a bit upset your new boyfriend was your nephew??

She's a Targaryen, her parents were brother and sister, and she was raised as a future wife for Viserys. Compared to that nephew doesn't seem so bad!!

naughtymutha · 23/04/2019 00:18

As Tyrion has now put the mockers on himself by saying I think we'll win, I think it's curtains for him Sad

PCohle · 23/04/2019 00:23

I thought it was interesting he said he thought we'll win only after a (lengthy?) offscreen conversation with Bran, the all seeing oracle...

Maybe Tyrion is confident because he knows something the audience (deliberately) doesn't?

bumpertobumper · 23/04/2019 00:36

I think Jon will die, dany will have a chance to save him but won't as she is so power hungry.

hellenbackagen · 23/04/2019 00:59

They all seem to think they are waiting to die so no idea! Keeping an open mind!

hellenbackagen · 23/04/2019 01:20

Watching again. I'm so invested in these characters. I don't want anyone to die Sad
Not Brianne or Jaime grey worm or tirriene or Sam...Dany is getting a bit power hungry but not sure I want to see her die ....☹️.

itswinetime · 23/04/2019 01:51

I think Jon will die, dany will have a chance to save him but won't as she is so power hungry.

Maybe in the end as a almost reverse of the story in the song Podrick sang I can see that fitting, but I can't see them killing jon off half way through the season and just after the reveal of his birth, there has to be something more to all of that.

I think to find those most in danger you have to look at whose stories are done.

Brienne is definitely at risk she got all the starks home safe and is a Knight.
I agree with most of the others mentioned so far.

Not sure where is left for Arya to go but she still has names on her list and a new weapon at her side so she may have some hope. Bran I know a lot of people think he will be key to defeating the night king and warg into the ice dragon or something but there has been no foreshadowing of that he has told Tyrion his story and hopefully the key information, I think it could be the end of the road.

I also wonder if we will see another dragon go possibly drogon?? That would probably have the most impact and think what it would do to Danny not only is she not the last Targaryen but almost dragonless especially if Rhaegal picks Jon as seems likely.

Bagstiv · 23/04/2019 03:58

Agree we’re going to lose a heap of characters but not sure they’ll follow the logical choices of those whose story arc is done - GRRMartin always loved to utterly disrupt that sort of natural storytelling order. Damn him Grin.

Arya’s Lance is so going to be the weapon to kill the night king. But not sure if she’ll wield it.

Am I the only one struggling to un-see Arya’s norks - she’s like THIRTEEN or something isn’t she Confused.

WheelyCote · 23/04/2019 07:17

Maybe

Arya and baratheons son (forgot his name) will end up ruling 7 kingdoms

And

Everyone else dies....eventually.

Either that or shes killed off in the first 15 mins of new episode.

Fav characters are hound and arya

ClashCityRocker · 23/04/2019 07:34

Must admit I'll be disappointed if the white walker problem is resolved in this episode.

I want to see cersei face them. Haven't quite figured out how that's going to happen without killing everyone in winterfell, which I also don't want to happen.

I wonder if we will learn more about the motivation of the white walkers. Why only now the concerted push towards dominance when they've been around for centuries?

yumyumpoppycat · 23/04/2019 07:37

I didn't think arya would die while watching last night but the bran's face thing makes sense. I also think the crypt is almost certainly going to be attacked.

I think the fact Jon is already dead will mean he is protected.

I don't think Bronn will kill tyrion.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 23/04/2019 07:40

Arya is a gonna. She had sex for pleasure. Women who have sex for pleasure with people they aren’t married to always die.
See every horror film ever.

BarbedBloom · 23/04/2019 07:48

I think Arya will actually try to kill the ice dragon, not the night king. I think some of the foreshadowing is too obvious and I think the dead will come through the crypt and kill women and children, including Missandei. Grey worm will take her bones home as they discussed.

I have seen some theories that the night king is actually travelling to kings landing and isn't at winterfell at all, which is interesting. I also think the dead may rise and defend Winterfell - remember they keep hammering home there must always be a stark at winterfell and that those in the crypt are buried with swords that bran says are blasphemous to touch. Or they will rise and kill everyone hence arya running terrified in trailer inside winterfell.

I suspect Theon is a goner, it would be fitting for him to die defending the starks. Jamie or Brienne will go and die in each others arms. Beric and Edd too.

I also think Nymeria will play a part. Martin loves Lord of the Rings and I think the huge pack of wolves Nymeria leads will come after Nymeria senses arya is in danger and pull an eagle scenario. Also I think the red woman may come with the people she was trying to recruit last season as we know she and Arya have to meet again according to her prophecy.

I think Dany is being badly written. She knows her father was awful and admitted that and was horrid to Jamie. But I think she learned a lot last episode. She saw Theon came back for Sansa, others pulled away from her and people don't respect her as queen. I don't blame her for being upset at Jon's news as it destroys her whole sense of life's purpose and she is right, we as the viewer know who Jon is but only his best friend and brother have claimed to know this and neither are fans of her. I am not the biggest Dany fan but I can see why she took it badly, especially as they are about to fight a huge battle.

Oblomov19 · 23/04/2019 07:49

I'm assuming most of them!! Or quite a lot!
There had to be more big names, more big cast members than just the basic list listed here, surely?

LarryGreysonsDoor · 23/04/2019 07:55

Am I the only one struggling to un-see Arya’s norks - she’s like THIRTEEN or something isn’t she

The actress is 22.

Hippopotas · 23/04/2019 08:01

My list is
Theon
Berric
Tormund
Gilly and little Sam
Jorah and lyanna Mormont
Davos
Missandei
Grey worm
Edd
Gendry
Brienne
Pod

weaselwords · 23/04/2019 08:09

If you are a massive nerd like me and have watched the BotB repeatedly, you notice that Jon should have died many times. I don’t think he can be killed again.
