Game of Thrones - Who's dying at Winterfell? SPOILERS

BearSoFair · 22/04/2019 17:26

So the big battle episode is next week...I am not ready! Who do you think is dying there? 2 episodes without any deaths, they must be gearing up for a bloodbath. DH and I have been discussing it a lot (nothing better to do with our extra day off!) and our list is:

Davos
Pod
Theon
Grey Worm or Missandei. I say Grey Worm, DH says Missandei.
Beric
Gendry

Also worried about Tormund, Brienne (which would break my heart!), and Jorah. Maybe even Bran, depending on exactly how connected he and the Night King are.

It feels like the rest all have a clear purpose moving forward and storylines that make sense beyond Winterfell so are probably safe for now. But I know how much this show likes to shock so I'm trying to prepare for every outcome!

Another prediction is that we will see Jon fight on a dragon. Otherwise what was the point of seeing that he can ride one? He’ll start off fighting on the ground with his wolf, then ghost gets killed toast and in desperation he jumps on the green dragon. Foreshadowing his switch from Stark to Targaryen.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 23/04/2019 08:31

I don’t think he can be killed again
But Beric has been killed six times. On that note, why would he have been brought back so many times if not to do something important? I don’t he will just be killed in battle without having first done something big. It was Beric that worked out they had to kill the Night King and then the rest of the dead will fall rather than try to battle them all. He told Jon he thought that was why the Lord of Light had allowed them both back, to fight for ‘Life’. So I think he and Jon will kill the Night King. Oh and everyone dies in a battle for the Iron Throne, except Sam, and we discover it’s him telling the story of all that went before (probably writing it in a book in the citadel).

yumyumpoppycat · 23/04/2019 08:34

actually arya face changing to bran wont work because the night king has his mark on bran and that's how he finds him. I think arya face changing will be saved for cersei - but her fella gendry is a goner.

Totally agree about jon's riding/flying lesson … I wonder if dany will put him on a dragon and send the dragon off to safety because he is the heir to the throne. Either that or she is going to get on a dragon herself and fly off with her army to cersi and leave jon and the north fighting.

Is there any chance dany is pregnant with Jons baby as there was some weird prophecy at the beginning of it all about her not having a child until the sun sets somewhere or another.

Just posted on the other thread, but in S7 Melisandre said she "must return once more to this place/land (Dragonstone) to die" and that Varys would die there too.

First, I wonder if she will bring anyone back to life.

BearSoFair · 23/04/2019 14:29

We hadn't considered that Arya might die but now, thinking about it, it does seem possible! Another one to add to my 'worried' list! I do feel like her wolf is going to come back into play though.

OP posts:
WheelyCote · 23/04/2019 17:42

I think aryas direwolf will come back too

SemperIdem · 23/04/2019 18:12

I’m sure Martin once said his wife would divorce him if Arya was killed off.

Maybe we should check if they’re still married? Grin

Nothing would make me happier than Dany being killed off. I haven’t liked her since the second book and have never liked her in the show. I’m really enjoying Sansa’s character development, I hope she’s the one to kill Dany.

AfterLaughter · 23/04/2019 18:15

Arya will kill Jamie, steal his face and fuck off to kill Cersei.

Jorah, Greyworm, Brienne, white walkers.

Can’t decide if I want Jon and Dany to live happily ever after OR Dany to die and Jon to fuck off on the dragons to be King Grin

AfterLaughter · 23/04/2019 18:16

*are going to be white walkers. Because for me they’d be the most heart breaking ones.

Katastrophy · 23/04/2019 18:22

I can't see Bronn killing Jamie or Tyrion.

RustyShackleford · 23/04/2019 18:24

There's no way Jaime dies, because he's the one to kill Cersei in the prophecy (unless as another pp said, Arya steals his face, but that would be a serious let down).

My money's on Davos, Greyworm and Missandei. And the dead will totally rise again in the crypts.

RustyShackleford · 23/04/2019 18:26

And god I hope Dany dies. I might not hate her so much if she had a decent actress to play her, but Emelia Clarke sucks ass. It's shit that she's by far the worst actor of the the show, and she's the one making a career in hollywood.

Ewitsahooman · 23/04/2019 18:27

Am I the only one struggling to un-see Arya’s norks - she’s like THIRTEEN or something isn’t she

The actress is 22.

And the character is 18.

I think she's going to die next week, she a fairly major character but also fairly pointless from this point on. I think she and Gendry will go out together, taking down as many of the dead with them as they possibly can.

I think the crypts being unsafe is a bit of a red herring. They know the fans look for foreshadowing and they were about as subtle as a brick to the face with the repeated "the crypts are soooooo super-duper safe". I do think the Night King will raise the dead in the crypts but I think it'll backfire and these particular dead will obey Sansa as head of her house rather than the NK. The saying is that there must always be a Stark in Winterfell and their family roots go right back to the days of the First Men, it was a Stark who built the Wall in the first place so my bet is the Starks have faced the White Walkers before at some point in their history and this is the reason why they bury the bones of their dead in the crypts under Winterfell with a sword across their laps and why a Stark must always be in residence. The bones are there as defence and the Stark is there to command the bones.

Of course they won't realise this at first and panic will break out in the Crypts with all the women and children fleeing to the surface where they'll then be targets for the NK army and add to the general confusion of the battle. As soon as the White Walkers realise Sansa can command the army of dead Starks, which will add thousands of fighters to her side, she'll become their primary target and they'll kill her in order to get control of the Dead-Starks for themselves.

Red Woman will return and raise Sansa because Arya will already be dead at this point, Bran is the Three Eyed Raven (and will be killed near the start of the episode), and Jon is a Targaryen. She'll come back to life and be able to command the Dead-Starks again, NK will have an "oh shit" moment when a huge chunk of his army (the Dead-Starks) suddenly turns against him.

My list for people killed next episode:

Arya
Gendry
Brienne
Sam (defending Gilly and Little Sam)
Sansa
Bran
Melisande
Missandei
Jorah
Theon

Is there any chance dany is pregnant with Jons baby as there was some weird prophecy at the beginning of it all about her not having a child until the sun sets somewhere or another.

There is loads of stuff online about how the prophesy has been fulfilled. If she was pregnant then it would unite the kingdoms as the baby would be heir to the Iron Throne and heir to the title of King In The North. I think Kings Landing will fall and the Seven Kingdoms will be ruled from the North in future.

AfterLaughter · 23/04/2019 18:29

I doubt Bronn will the Jamie or Tyrion. Really unlike, I think.

I’d like Dany to be pregnant. Targs only ever breed with other Targs - Jon is the only exception to that, IIRC.

BearSoFair · 23/04/2019 18:40

I think Bronn will succeed with killing one Lannister brother, but not both. I'm not sure which though. Leaning towards Tyrion, just because of the significance of a crossbow with him.

OP posts:
BearSoFair · 23/04/2019 18:42

Although it was only season 7 where Tyrion promised to pay double whatever price Bronn was offered to kill him wasn't it, so maybe not!

OP posts:
TheFirstOHN · 23/04/2019 18:52

I'm not sure Sam will die. I think he will be needed to write the account of the story for the citadel's archives.

TheFirstOHN · 23/04/2019 18:55

There's no way Jaime dies, because he's the one to kill Cersei in the prophecy

Does it say Jaime specifically? I thought it said she'd be killed by the little brother, which opens it up to two possible candidates (three if she's pregnant with a boy).

ladymarian · 23/04/2019 19:09

This is going to be a long week waiting for E3! I'm not sure I can bear to watch but I think those who will die next week are

Grey Worm
Jorah (I will be sobbing when he dies 😢😢)
Davos
Gilly
Beric

I agree with above posters about it not being possible for Jon to be killed. Him being brought back to life by the Red Woman has to be significant. I think she'll appear in the next episode too. I also agree that about of the people in the crypts will be toast 😱
I have a feeling that Gendry will be one of the last standing. I don't know why, I just think there must be a reason he was brought back in to the action after a few seasons. I don't think Dany and Jon will have a happy ending, I read a theory that she will become a white walker (The Night Queen?) which seems possible. I'm also really starting to dislike her!

I hope Sansa makes it to the end. She's a survivor

Can't wait!!

Pinkprincess1978 · 23/04/2019 19:27

I don't believe Bronn will kill either brother. Did anyone watch this weeks Throne Cast? He was asked about browns character and the interviewer (Sue?) said something about bronn having a lot of love for his friends (or something like that) and Jerome Flynn got excited and said he is glad someone spotted that!

I agree with many that Brianne's time is up as is grey worm and his Mrs and probably Jorah.

I love the idea that the stark dead I'll come alive to defend winterfell, that idea is lovely!

Come on E3!

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 23/04/2019 19:36

If Arya is pregnant with Gendry’s baby (so Robert`Baratheon’s grandchild) she could become the wife of an heir to the throne and the mother of a future king. And as the lovely Cersei has shown us, that’s a very influential role.

daphine2004 · 23/04/2019 19:50

This has got me excited! I wish they’d release it in one go. I’d love a binge on this!

PCohle · 23/04/2019 19:54

I thought Thoros had been killed and brought back several (13?) times, so it seems to be possible for people who have been brought back by the lord of light to die again.

I think it's more likely Dany is pregnant than Arya. I'm not really sure how they'd have time for Arya to be pregnant enough to be significant by the end of the show.

I think Gendry might die now his storyline with Arya has reached its, ahem, climax.

SquishySquirmy · 23/04/2019 20:19

I always assumed the Nk and the Whitewalkers controlled the dead through a kind of warging... Bran can warg into animals, and into human beings. Should be possible to control the dead in the same way?

Which would mean that the NK is super impressive at multitasking.

This would mean that the dead have no autonomy of their own though, so the Stark dead will only do what they are remote controlled to do.

furrytoebean · 23/04/2019 20:27

Unless it’s millesandra who brings the starks back.
