Why does nobody on Mumsnet ever have one degree?

It’s either at least 2, possibly 3 and one a Masters probably from Oxbridge, or left school with one GCSE in home economics......

I've only got the one.

Passmethecrisps · 05/04/2019 22:40

I have one. I have two post grad certificates but I don’t think they count. My degree is also a bit shit.

elephantoverthehill · 05/04/2019 22:40

I've only got one. It's a desmond, so I don't bring it into conversation much but it has given me a career. I do know people in RL who seem to just collect them.

Don't know, but I have two. Grin One is a master's and the other is from Oxbridge. So you are spot on as far as I'm concerned!

cuppycakey · 05/04/2019 22:40

I have two!! Smile

Have never noticed this as a MN thing before though - probably not paying enough attention.

Cushellekoala · 05/04/2019 22:40

I am somewhere in between. I have 9 good gcses, 2 reasonable a levels and no degree!

PurpleDaisies · 05/04/2019 22:41

I have two. Plus two masters. Maybe I need two phds next.

MsAwesomeDragon · 05/04/2019 22:42

I have one. I've also got a pgce, but that's not a degree, just a certificate.

BareBelliedSneetch · 05/04/2019 22:42

I have 3 Grin two are masters Grin no oxbridge though Sad

PurpleDaisies · 05/04/2019 22:43

I forgot to mention my grade 5 flute.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 05/04/2019 22:43

Dunno. I have two, but one's a Desmond and the other was because I got a bursary as a mature student mother/female from a "deprived area" so it made sense financially at the time. Neither of them are worth the paper they're printed on.

Fr3d · 05/04/2019 22:43

I have one

DramaAlpaca · 05/04/2019 22:43

I have just the one, and very happy with it I am too.

megletthesecond · 05/04/2019 22:43

I don't even have one.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 05/04/2019 22:44

I don't have any GCSES though, I am too old Grin

Melroses · 05/04/2019 22:44

I have one crap one that I nearly failed and RSA3 in typing Grin

NewAccount270219 · 05/04/2019 22:44

I've noticed this too! Though I have a PhD so am part of the problem, sorry...

Dragonlight · 05/04/2019 22:44

I have one.

Fr3d · 05/04/2019 22:44

I think it's an age thing...now nearly everyone I know does a masters. Used to be an honours degree was enough for most

NewAccount270219 · 05/04/2019 22:46

Tbf if you have a first degree from Oxbridge then you do have your bullshit bonus MA, though it makes you look a twat to claim that's a genuine second degree

Violetroselily · 05/04/2019 22:47

I only have one

Most of my friends (aged 29-30) only have one. I can only think of two who went on to do a Masters.

OvO · 05/04/2019 22:47

I saw someone claim 4 recently! She/he definitely didnt come across as 4 degree clever. Or 1.

AlocAcoc · 05/04/2019 22:47

Two degrees. Both Oxbridge. Plus one bullshit bonus MA 😂

C0untDucku1a · 05/04/2019 22:48

Ive a BA and MA.

It makes sense women on mumsnet would be educated though.

colehawlins · 05/04/2019 22:49

But weren't you the one who had known current politicians (cabinet ministers?) in your youth (at university?) @BertrandRussell ?

Seems an odd observation coming from you.
