It’s either at least 2, possibly 3 and one a Masters probably from Oxbridge, or left school with one GCSE in home economics......

I have a BA. I have a friend who has three and now fancies a postgrad. I could never work out how to be able to afford anything other than getting a job after Uni. Or maybe I am just unadventurous!

AlunWynsKnee · 05/04/2019 23:40

I've got one and it's a Desmond. It is sort of relevant to my job. I guess it's not unusual enough to use to prove a point (I can't spell/add up/Park and I've got 74 degrees type thing) nor does it qualify me as important or an authority.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 05/04/2019 23:40

Accountant222 are you me?

I do have regrets but I do not think it would have made a difference in my work worth - certainly has not been reflected in my pay.

And like a pp I also have grade 5 flute Grin

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 05/04/2019 23:42

@PissOffPeppa - sounds like my cousin. It falls in to the "ridiculous" category 'cause he can't actually hold down a job 🙄. Or string a coherent sentence together.

TailsoftheManyPaws · 05/04/2019 23:43

I have six A-levels. Does that count?

Applesbananaspears · 05/04/2019 23:52

I’ve got 1. And quite frankly I’ve never given it a moments thought since the minute I left university. I could imagine trying to prove a point by saying “but I’m a GRADUATE” like anyone cares.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 05/04/2019 23:55

Looking back at the original question though, I suspect the reason is because your average MNer is full of bullshit 😂.

Given that every bugger goes to uni now means having a degree just isn't special enough and generally speaking anyone bringing up academic qualifications anywhere other than a CV is doing it because they expect you to bow down to their awesome cleverness.

At a rough guess I'd say that at least 50% of MNers stating how many degrees they have are telling porkies.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2019 00:05

Given that every bugger goes to uni now...

Yeah, but some of us are old.

opinionatedfreak · 06/04/2019 00:09

I'm guilty - two degrees and two post grad qualifications...

Would quite like to do a masters but am not keen to self fund.

Decormad38 · 06/04/2019 00:12

One degree, one pgce, one masters, - it’s pretty standsrd if you want to progress in your professional career.

Well I only have one and it's a Desmond AND it's in History.....so neither use nor ornament.

snozzlemaid · 06/04/2019 00:21

I don't have a degree. Don't even have A levels.

MrsFedUpOfEverything · 06/04/2019 00:22

A Desmond was respectable in the 80s!

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/04/2019 00:23

I've got one and it's a Desmond.

What did people call the others? We called a Third a drinking degree or a Douglas Hurd.

Jenniferyellowcat · 06/04/2019 00:24

jessica it sounds more useful than my Desmond in languages. Turns out having passable holiday French isn’t actually that useful in the working world, compared with all the millions of people who are actually, um, French.

MrsFedUpOfEverything · 06/04/2019 00:29

Third = a Richard
First = James Hunt
Pass = Khyber

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/04/2019 00:31

I have just the one but I feel a little embarrassed sometimes about even having one as my dh and 2 of my siblings don't have any and they all make more money and have more interesting careers than me Blush Confused

I worry about the conflicting advice my dc will be receiving when they choose their own career paths

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/04/2019 01:06

I have a MA in life lol

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 06/04/2019 01:15

I think it's an age thing...now nearly everyone I know does a masters.

Yep, it's become the norm here in the US, despite the ridiculous tuition costs.

I know someone said that some MN's tell porkies about their qualifications, but DH and I have the student loans to prove that we have Master's degrees Grin ...and we'll soon be paying for our own children to go to university!

Still glad we did 'em, though.

INeedToGetHealthy · 06/04/2019 01:37

I have about 10 really crap GCSEs, a City & Guilds in care work and an NVQ in catering & hospitality. I was always rubbish at academic stuff.

Rottencooking · 06/04/2019 01:40

I'm struggling to get the one.

Rockbird · 06/04/2019 02:01

A Desmond here which was fun to study but has been zero help in the job market. Would study more if I won the lottery though.
