REALLY Panicking about new blue kitchen

Hi All, we are at the end of a pretty extensive build project. I have spent a year researching and organising my dream kitchen. I’m not usually very bold but wanted to try and be braver than my usual grey so opted for the vision a dark blue and white kitchen.
Was feeling really excited it all, even when it turned up..... but now they have started to install it really isn’t the colour I thought it would be and think it looks way too blue and overall a bit of a design disaster! We have literally spent a fortune on the house and have nothing left to improve anything else. My husband says he likes it (but he says that about everything) and now I’m in proper panic mode!!!
Anyone have any thoughts on whether I am over reacting or if I have made a terrible judgement, what I could do put it right??? Help! I’m really panicking and now feel gutted that rather than feel excited about showing off our new home, I am embarrassed about my design fail! 😫😩🙈

You have no worries, seriously, it looks fab and will soften up with accessories. We went even darker - Black blue, with a very similar layout to yours, and everyone complements it.

Wow, I admire your guts to go for a blue kitchen!! I actually really like the photos you have posted. I’m the sort of person who would “play it safe” but would actually love to go for a bold colour in the kitchen kitchen like yours. Honestly, it does look lovely. Please post photos when it’s finished Smile

Gaah. Compliments.

Btw OP, we had our kitchen done a year ago now. It was a year’s project and all through the 4 months of building work I thought we’d made a massive mistake opening up the kitchen and dining room. I was convinced I’d ruined the house. Now it’s finished, it was totally the right decision.

Rachel0Greep · 10/11/2018 18:37

It's beautiful, and will be fabulous when all done.

Ilovedotcotton · 10/11/2018 18:37

God, I love it and I’m so bloody jealous! It’s exactly what I want instead of my new and totally bland cream kitchen. Why wasn’t I braver?????

thereallochnessmonster · 10/11/2018 18:37

It’s beautiful. I want a blue kitchen now.

PipGoesPop · 10/11/2018 18:38

I absolutely love it.

ElBelle · 10/11/2018 18:45

@Faffandahalf yes it is DIY - It’s the Helmsley. Well spotted! They are really nice kitchens but you have to know exactly what you want...... clearly not my strong point 😬 Do you have one too?

@whatashower such a beautiful kitchen! I wish I’d been bolder to go darker now too! That looks gorgeous!

whatashower · 10/11/2018 19:11

STOP WORRYING!

whatashower · 10/11/2018 19:12

--er and ours is a DIY kitchen too, Luca.

blackchina · 10/11/2018 19:19

@ElBelle

Not something I would pick.

But it's nice yeah..... Smile Very 'modern.'

I'm a bit of an old coot. I like very old fashioned stuff like this.

<

I have a very old house (350 years old,) and everything about it is old fashioned, and it's what I like and prefer.

Don't dislike yours, it's just not for me.

Its so lovely, really stylish! We can’t afford a new kitchen but I’m getting our units sprayed dark green soon and getting our tops wrapped in white too!

Cambalamb · 10/11/2018 19:48

All these huge kitchens! Anyone got any pictures of a smaller kitchen that looks great?

Alfiesmom74 · 10/11/2018 19:49

I don’t like it.............................................................I LOVE IT!!

EdWinchester · 10/11/2018 19:53

In my job, I see a LOT of new kitchens.

Dark blue is very popular at the moment, although tbh, it's usually just the island that is this colour with the other units pale grey or grey/white.

If you find it's too much, you could opt for this?

LuluJakey1 · 10/11/2018 20:01

OP i think your kitchen is lovely. It's a great colour and a lovely space.

Faffandahalf · 10/11/2018 20:02

ElBelle we are in the process of choosing a kitchen.
We are really thinking seriously of going with them but I’m not very good at all with planning or visualing things.
I’ve had a plan drawn up by Howdens and going to use that to try and plan units.
Also debating between Helmsley and Norton.
How has the whole process been for you?

We want to go to the showroom too though it’s a nearly 4 hour drive from London!

Shewhomustbeobeyed1 · 10/11/2018 20:02

Stunning. That is all
