Bake off - Kim joy

Just catching up, I'm watching bread week. Kim joy seems a lovely woman with her own style. She has a perfectly pleasant face....why don't her friends tell her her make up is so overkill! Bright blue eye shadow and that blusher! She looks so silly and she could look so much nicer without it all. IMHO obviously...

OP posts:

@indianwoman

Bit rude to start a thread bashing someone though OP. I wouldn't say you are vile or nasty, or 'deeply unpleasant,' but you do sound a bit mean, and a bit spiteful tbh; like a catty teenage girl having a go at another girl who you're jealous of, because she is more popular and well-liked than you.

Kim-Joy is adorable! (pic 1) And so is Briony (pic 2) and Manon! (pic 3,)

Briony's face makes me smile, especially when she smiles! And Manon is gorgeous. Grin

@theneverendingsummer ah she is a bit of a mish mash like myself so Grin I was watching a youtube video where a blogger went to Japan and tried different makeup and clothing styles (like harijuku) and her blush where she had it and the bright coloured eyes reminded me of the video, supposedly the blush is put higher to make your face look kinder, putting it on your cheeks meant you weren't as kind (supposedly)

thisneverendingsummer · 03/10/2018 18:52

@Vandree

ah she is a bit of a mish mash like myself so... Grin

Awwww, yeah LOL. Smile I bet you're gorgeous too. ❤️

And I think ANYone is entitled to look as wacky or quirky as they like. Smile

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 03/10/2018 18:52

I think her makeup makes her look kind. It's not what I'd wear but it's not on my face so who cares. If she enjoys that then good for her.

Oh and every person on this thread that's said they'd rather see her makeup than the BOTOX, big eyebrow Instagram look are no better than the OP. You're just judging a different style. Again unless it's not on your face so why do you care.

MorvaanReed · 03/10/2018 18:53

She's on Twitter and she handles comments about her appearance very gracefully. Class act all round IMHO.

weaselwords · 03/10/2018 18:54

I think the space turtles were choux pastry with almonds for legs. She has serious style!

Justmuddlingalong · 03/10/2018 18:54

Wonder where OP puts her blusher?

thisneverendingsummer · 03/10/2018 18:58

On her bum cheeks! Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 03/10/2018 18:59

🍑 🤭

Blueemeraldagain · 03/10/2018 19:01

I like unusual makeup. Her’s isn’t to my taste/the type I stare at on Instagram but she wears it well IYSWIM? She does seem like a lovely person and a very talented baker.

Bumbl · 03/10/2018 19:02

What a horrible thread to start. I think her individuality and own sense of style are fabulous. Also, she’s on a baking programme! Why are women constantly criticised for their appearance, I wonder.

FekkoTheLawyer · 03/10/2018 19:03

I love her creations.

CloudCaptain · 03/10/2018 19:07

I bet £1000 if this were a style of make up was popular with celebrities you would not be calling it ridiculous. I admire the fact she has her own mind.

Butterymuffin · 03/10/2018 19:13

It's clearly her choice and what she likes. Maybe she'd think your look was ridiculous if she met you. Though she comes across as a nice person so probably not.

TheLesserOfTwoWeevils · 03/10/2018 19:16

If I did my make up like Kim-Joy I would look utterly ridiculous. In her it works. It suits her personality and overall style. I think she looks lovely!

Rather mean-spirited to start a thread just to mock a stranger's appearance.

TeacupDrama · 03/10/2018 19:19

exactly cloudcaptain all celbs were ripped jeans more holes than fabric everyone follows does it actually look good no it actually looks ridiculous but because it's high fashion saying it looks awful is not done.

Also I bet if she wore a cold shoulder coat ( which is even more ridiculous than ripped holey clothes) NO-ONE WOULD SAY A WORD!!!!

but she is different and unconventional and so the boot goes in it is horrible being horrible to other women ( or men for that matter for their appearance or clothes) seems that some people are more critical of perceived make up errors than character flaws like meanness, selfishness etc

bellinisurge · 03/10/2018 19:19

Her makeup is brilliant- suits her style completely. My dd loves her look.

TeacupDrama · 03/10/2018 19:20

I meant celebs wear oops! spelling fail

MorningsEleven · 03/10/2018 19:20

She thinks you're goegeous 😏

effiehabb · 03/10/2018 19:24

Easch to their own, personally i adore Kim-Joy, she really makes me smile.

QueenieMum · 03/10/2018 19:25

OMG in 2018 we're STILL judging women on how they look?! FFS!

lynmilne65 · 03/10/2018 19:26

Ooo where can I buy a fucking mirror ???

NoParticularPattern · 03/10/2018 19:29

What a horrible thread to start. I don’t give a shiny shite how anyone else looks. If they’re happy then why the hell would anyone feel the need to comment? It might not be to your taste, and that’s ok, but there’s no need to start a thread on how awful you think it looks. You should be ashamed OP (and anyone else who thinks someone is fair game just because they’re on telly)

LondonJax · 03/10/2018 19:31

I was watching the programme on catch up only today and thought what a great photo KimJoy would have on a cookery book if she won. A vegetarian cookbook full of colour just like her.

I'd rather see her make up, which sums up what she is, than the giant caterpillars crawling across their eyes that some women seem to think are attractive eyebrows at the moment - they're not, they're hideous and look utterly daft!
