Are these shoes acceptable for high school?

Hi,

Dd starts high school next week and I really don't have a clue what shoes to get her!

She doesn't have friends yet (struggles socially) so can't compare.

We were in Clarks earlier and I was asking the assistant who looked very young, what she thought of these shoes she'd picked out and she said that some girls would wear them, but most will still try and get away with trainers and Vans. The way she said it suggested that "some girls wear them" actually meant 'the girls who get teased wear them'.

My DD already stands out as being quite different, so just want to make sure I'm not making her stand out more. I know that sounds awful, but I'm sure some of you will understand.

that's exactly what all the girls at dd's wear - with the exception of a few in year 7 who still have Mary Janes.

Dd is in 6th form now so wears DMs (boots & shoes) but they can't in the lower school because of the yellow stitches & soles must be black. No fashion shoes, no ballet flats, nothing resembling trainers, absolutely no heels. Which pretty much leaves brogues or loafers & 99.9% go for brogues.

They're smart black shoes and she likes them. Get them!

None that I’ve seen are. “Black, polshabl, no strapless ballerina flats or boots” is basically what DD’s says. DSs was similar (within the the ballerina flats bit!). Nothing to hint about what is going to be popular.
