Inspired by a thread about hygiene - carpets in kitchens and toilets, I thought it could be interesting to recall some of the diabolical tat from the past.

Bushtailadventures I had that exact cabinet in my bedroom as a kid. I once bounced off my bed and split my lip on the drop down door.

vivalafrida · 15/08/2018 14:35

Me and my sister, circa 1977ish.

I'm not saying which is me...

MooseBeTimeForSummer I bet you're from the same place as me...

Lynne1Cat · 15/08/2018 14:49

I'm 59, and I used to do the pineapple chunks on sticks (very sophisticated we thought at the time). My brother gave me a tiled coffee table. I hated the Bay City Rollers, so none of their stuff applied........ but my MIL had every single crappy thing on here.

SurlyValentine · 15/08/2018 14:53

My auntie had Eternal Beau crockery. My mum had to be different so she went with the Harvest Garland. We had that stuff for years and years. Am now kind of wishing she'd kept it, because I've just seen that the teapot is worth about £50 and dinner plates are about £20! Shock

My Grandma and Grandad had almost this exact sofa - so soft and snuggly, just like them.

And I had a Holly Hobbie quilt cover and pillowcase set, usually (mis) matched with the stripy flannel sheets DameSquashalot posted.

I don't think anyone I know had the Spanish Lady or Crying Boy pictures, but BrettAndersonscheekbones may have provided my next MN username! Grin

Yes moose I had that lunch box with the road signs - educational lunch time! It was very sturdy, no squashed sarnies but quite big and almost took up the entire school bag!

SurlyValentine · 15/08/2018 15:03

I remember my school PTA holding fundraising "cheese and wine evenings", oh, and "Beetle Drives". What the actual feck was a Beetle Drive?!?!?!

Anasnake · 15/08/2018 15:07

Eternal Beau - Urgh.

Mind you, I would have the drinks trolley if only I had the room.

Vitalogy · 15/08/2018 15:12

Oh yes, Holly Hobbie. Strawberry Shortcake and Victoria Plum too.

BestZebbie · 15/08/2018 15:17

WingMirrorSpider - I have that exact glass hanging Siamese cat from when I was a child in the 1980s. I never knew there was a glass and mouse to go with it!

Solomonbitestheworm · 15/08/2018 15:17

Strawberry shortcake! Smelled of...not strawberries!

Claw001 · 15/08/2018 15:20

mypoo yes, half a melon, which didn’t get thrown out! After sticks were removed, sliced up for us to eat!

Claw001 · 15/08/2018 15:25

Aww I actually got some Babysham and the glasses last Christmas. Not quite as I remember, it tastes like shit!

SurlyValentine · 15/08/2018 15:25

Yeah, I don't know what Strawberry Shortcake smelled of, but it definitely wasn't strawberries! haha!

Not forgetting, of course, the Flower Fairies and Rainbow Brite Grin

Does anyone remember this book? I can't remember the main plot of it, but there was something about a buckle coming off Cindy's shoe and the Enchantress using it to freeze her foot? Hmm
