The twaddle continues ......

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 13/11/2010 00:21

Bingo! Have been inspired. Ideal role for Mr Armitage.

Northern accent
Dark brooding looks of a chiselled type
Strong passions
Opportunities to recite poetry

All boxes ticked.

New Ted Hughes biopic? Consign the one with Gwyneth Paltrow (and the rather lovely Mr Craig) to oblivion.

And here's a quote from Mr Hale's Plato, Margaret's leaving present to Mr Thornton

Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back

Anyone care for a Polish cordial?

OP posts:
HeavenForfend · 13/11/2010 00:23

Ted Hughes (relying on memory of my 4th year Macbeth antho) was hewn, not chiselled.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 13/11/2010 00:25

It would be rather a naughty film though, wouldn't it, Fettle? Especially if Mrs LN does a finale where all the ladies jump on him at once, to Teach Him A Lesson?

Maybe it should be an Art Film, then, that's always an excuse for beaucoup de smut

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 13/11/2010 00:26

Ah. How does one distinguish between hewn and chiselled, when applied to the male physiognomy?

This may require more research.

OP posts:
HeavenForfend · 13/11/2010 00:27

Maybe it's a question of technique. Hughes looked a bit sandblasted, whilst Mr Armitage is gently sculpted by the blades of angels. Or summat.

HeavenForfend · 13/11/2010 00:28

(It's late. I'm drunk.)

The lavender scented hankie was for me, as I quivered at the memory of Margaret leaving Thornton and failing to look back, look back at him.

Oh dear, Theresa. What's to be done. Would this painting just biked over from the History of Art department be of any use? Or would it make things worse?

Would you like some of our Polish cordial, HeavenForfend?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 13/11/2010 00:47

Very thoughtful of you Flowers. But it's kinda pouring oil on the flames. I was wondering whether a visit to the ballet might help, Le spook mal garde, perhaps, but am not in the mood for culture.

I just found this song by Shirley Bassey that made me smile

Who's got a match for a strikin'
Don't say it all depends
Who wants to help me burn my candle, at both ends

Who's got a light he's hidin', under a bush or fence
Who wants to help me burn my candle, at both ends

It's possible, it may not last a night
While it burns, what a wonderful light

Who'd like to play with fire
After they make amends
Who wants to help me burn my candle, at both ends

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 13/11/2010 00:56

That's what I feared, Theresa. In that case, I suggest you lie down on the sofa, close your eyes and listen to some . Don't peep.

Good night.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 13/11/2010 00:57

And to you. Sweet dreams of Mr T.

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 07:38

Sorry to disappoint Theresa but there will be no gang bang with Guy Thornton North. The ending of that saga will be considerably more romantic and involve just the one female character (writers perks and all that!)

May have to do a follow up though - is John Lucas up for a few adventures?

Grin
Bodenbabe · 13/11/2010 08:42

Flowers, I too had been pondering Gatsby - probably because I was a little bit in love with Gatsby at school.

MrsLN, I think John Lucas sounds like an unwritten classic! I think he would be quite, quite bad.

As for Strikeback - is John Porter involved in the aforementioned naughtiness?

So Robin Hood - what age is it suitable for? Is it especially gory? I need an excuse to watch it think DD might like it.

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 09:21

OK - If you're there Stripey it's your turn. Hope you like it, what with electric failures, interruptions from DH and DD and the fact it's early in the morning and have had aforementioned DD up and down since about 4.40am I fear I may have lost my mojo slightly.

Anyway, here goes...

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 09:25

Guy made it back to the reception just in time for the evening?s finale. Bo disappeared into the crowd as everyone made their way outside for the firework display.
The show was spectacular ? the bride?s parents having spared no expense, and the guests were welcomed back indoors a while later with glasses of hot whisky punch.
Taking his glass, Guy headed over to a small table in the corner of the lobby, shrugged his coat off and with his glass still in one hand, gently tugged his leather gloves off with his teeth. As he did so he had the sensation that he was being watched, and looked up to see a tall, blonde woman smiling at him from a few metres away.
?That was quite something wasn?t it?? smiled Guy as she approached.
?It?s not the only thing that?s quite something from where I?m standing,? purred Luna, eyeing him up and down appreciatively.

Guy was somewhat taken aback ? he was rather more used to being the one doing the chasing. If truth be told, Luna was quite surprised at herself too. She?d noticed him even before the ceremony had started and had spent the hours since quaffing a particularly delicious brand of Polish cordial in order to find the nerve to approach him at all. Then he?d kept disappearing so she?d ended up drinking a little more than she?d planned and was now pretty much free of any inhibitions she may have had at the start of the afternoon.

?I?ve actually been trying to catch you for a while,? Luna grinned cheekily as she sat down next to Guy on the cosy leather Chesterfield, ?I was speaking to Rupert earlier and he was telling me you?re looking for an architect at the moment.?

?You?re an architect? I?d have had you down as something more glamorous, although if I was to picture you in high heels and hard hat?? Guy?s blue eyes twinkled, ?Actually I?ve just bought a place that needs a fair bit of work, I?d be interested to see what other projects you?ve worked on.?

?I was hoping you?d say that,? replied Luna, ?I had to come here straight from work today, and I have my portfolio upstairs?

?Are you inviting me to come up and see your etchings?? smirked Guy

Luna leant across the sofa and whispered suggestively in Guy?s ear ?We can start with etchings if you like??

Upstairs, Luna?s room was small but perfectly formed. Guy couldn?t take his eyes off her as she sashayed across the carpet to where the portfolio sat on the bedside cabinet. She kicked off her shoes, hopped up onto the bed and indicated to Guy to join her. There was something about her steely blue gaze that made him disinclined to refuse, although he had to admit that Luna?s tall curvy figure and long blonde hair were tempting enough before he?d even looked her in the eye.

Sitting on the bed they began looking through Luna?s impressive portfolio. Guy took off his cravat and loosened the top couple of buttons on his dress shirt, and Luna found herself more distracted than ever.
She paused mid sentence and looked up at Guy. When their blue eyes met a current of electricity crackled between them that was even more dramatic than the fireworks had been.

Guy reached over, took the portfolio from Luna?s hands and slipped it on to the floor, his eyes not leaving hers for a second. He pushed her blonde hair back off her face and with his hand gently cradling the back of her head, pulled her towards him. All of a sudden, she was sober again, all of her senses alive with the feel and scent of the man beside her. His hot breath on her face smelled of whisky as his lips finally met with hers and he pushed her gently back onto the blue silk sheets...

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 09:26

PS Boden - John Porter is very naughty! Grin

HeavenForfend · 13/11/2010 09:36

Good grief, I should have taken up that offer of Polish cordial - it couldn't have been any worse for me than all that wine last night.

Anyway, just to introduce myself to the thread, I have been a Raaarmitage-fancier ever since he galloped up in Episode One of Robin Hood and made threatening gestures with his gloved fingers.

I'm a lurker-type as a rule but wanted to register my interest Smile.

Who moved those cushions?!

Thank you Mrs LN Grin he's such a floozy but who can resist??

< heads off to fetch smelling salts before re reading>

StripeyMoon · 13/11/2010 09:47

Hello Heaven btw!

Bodenbabe · 13/11/2010 09:57

Cor, that was a nice morning treat, MrsLN! LOVING the glove bit (and the blue sheets were a nice touch) :)

Right, so Strikeback is definitely on the must-see list then. Oh lordy though, how can I order more RA stuff, poor DH... Might do a bit of archaeology in the basement and see if I can research any of said naughtiness...

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 13/11/2010 10:35

Poor Fleur has been uuuused. Guy Thornton-North is such a tart. A very delicious tart, it has to be said.

Boden - How old is your Offspring? Mine is very keen on Merlin at the moment and also likes Robin Hood. Perhaps you could use that as a test? (And it's interesting to see how much of the look and mood of Merlin has been, ahem, borrowed from RH).

GTN must be absolutley shagged shattered by now Grin.

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 10:43

It's tricky, Bodenbabe. I'm not sure my Dh is actually aware of my obsession little crush. Had North & South and Strikeback delivered to my parents address, as Dh is very 'grown up' and would not approve at all of my adolescent behaviour!

Am now desperate for Spooks 7 and 8 and may have to consider Cold Feet. BTS and Moving On look good but not keen on either if his co-stars there so may stick to YouTube or see if there's anything doing at the library.

MrsLucasNorth · 13/11/2010 10:45

Oh, Stripey, don't worry about Guy - he's very fit Grin!
