I forgot to quote you in my post above @Switherings

What a brilliant thread!
I’m also a single, childfree flat-dweller and I’m having a good clear out after reading this.

Minimalist86 · 28/07/2026 14:59

Sorry im late back I was at the beach ⛱️.

To solve the wardrobe comments.
I'll pop i pic up, its not that I dont want or cant afford a decent one.
Its because I like this one it dose what i need it to do, and its decent enough for me.
Its easy to move and clean under.

Im a minimalist

Why do you use a plastic pop up wardrobe when it sounds like you can afford to buy a decent one? I understand the minimalism thing and I respect it, but do you not care if you live in an ugly and unstylish environment? Do you take care to make your home attractive and stylish or are those things completely unimportant to you so long as it functions on the most basic level?

Edited

I like the way my home look as you like the way your home looks.
Whats ugly if you like it.
Being stylish having stylish things keeping up with treands that come ago and we spend spend spend to keep up following a crowd, is fine if thats what one wants.
My style of home is just different from what you have.
I dont think anyone has the same style and its good to be yourself.

Ah okay, when you said 'plastic pop up wardrobe' that wasn't quite what I was expecting. I thought you meant one of those ones that is made up of poles that slot together, with one hanging rail and one shelf on the bottom and maybe a loose plastic zip up cover over the top, like you'd use on a camping trip or something. 😁

IlovedLadybirdbooks · 28/07/2026 17:16

That's not how you're coming across on here, though. You come across as exhausted and defeated

They really don't @Switherings Maybe you're projecting?

I'm interested that you only have one pair of trainers - what if they get really wet and you need them for the next day?
Also, don't you have winter boots or wellingtons?

SuziQuinto · 28/07/2026 17:32

What did you wear to the beach today?

Minimalist86 · 28/07/2026 17:35

I wore clothes shorts and a top.
If my trainers get wet i put them in the washer dryer, or i just where my slip ons no big deal.

Right, they go in the washer dryer.
Winter boots?
Do you have swimwear, or is that something you don't do?

Thank you, but i think we are all abit minimalist in ways we dont see..

Think of it this way.
When we leave our homes we only take what we need.
We go holiday we only pack what we need.

We dont leave our homes and take all the content from indoors with us, and it dont bother us one bit in leaving it.

The question id ask myselve is why does it not bother me when away, but grinds me down when living in it.

Bloody good point.
Never saw it that way.

I find this really interesting @Minimalist86. I would love to be more minimalist but unfortunately I have a family. My question… do you have a waterproof coat?

I totally get it. I was my happiest when I was living out of a backpack for a year. I came home to all the boxes of stuff I had stored at my mum’s and I was like… I don’t even know now what’s in those boxes and I’ve lived a year without it all so I obviously don’t need it.

I bet you had a grand time travling.
I dont store anything, im amazed at some people storing stuff in lockers and lofts etc, for years.
Most of it is long forgotten about, sometimes we face facts when love ones pass we have to clear their homes, and it all goes to the tip, makes some of us see we need to change.

No, I've cleared 3 houses. Very little went to the tip. Most went to charity or friends. I kept a few things.

Where do you live that doesn't get wintry weather?
