I really like your thread and your way of life. I hate clutter too but have children so I’ve had to adapt.
i don’t see why people assume you have MH issues or childhood trauma just because you don’t succumb to a full consumerist lifestyle.

i do have one question though. What is your luxury? For me it’s the best quality pillowcase I can afford

My luxury items are my A/C memory foam pillows, duck feather duvet and having a full body massage every month.
And having holidays.

Where do you go on holiday? Different places? Long haul?

No, I see her very much as calm, content, satisfied. Her lifestyle is freeing of time, of superfluous cleaning, of pointless consideration, of stress. It’s to be applauded.

She’s strong enough to resist the persuasion of materialism, is not an exploited consumer, is not odd or extreme. She’s reached the goal I’m aiming for. How many times do I return from a SC holiday and marvel at how little I actually needed than I have at home? Lots.

Environmentally she’s responsible and considerate.

Her answers are brief. They remind me of the phrase credited to Mark Twain but which is actually that of Blaise Pascal: “I have made this letter longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter.”
Writing a short and clear message requires time, deep thought and heavy editing.
This is what I see in OP. She’s direct and assured. She isn’t put off by responses which some of us are finding rude and unpleasant.

Last year i spent xmas in thailand.
I like to do a mix like a long haul then a short one.

Thanks for starting this thread, it’s very interesting. I’m naturally inclined to be somewhat minimalist and can completely see the benefits of it. You said your hobbies are meditation and reading online, do you think that’s because they require minimal equipment/clothing? Would you be put off a hobby if it required the purchase of additional items?

My cheapest i have brought was about £1 from chairty shop, most are plain but i do have one that has smilies all over it and 2 tie dye ones.
The cheapest ones are hand me downs from my friend or my sister, nothing wrong with them.

Nothing is a waste of money if you really enjoy it.
I love reading getting lost in a in a story and there are hundreds of them on line no books needed, anyone can meditate, i was going to join a meditation/ yoga club a few years back, but at £35 a month i though i can do the very same thing at home, and i did.
If other people want to spend money on hobbies good for them and i hope its worth the price.

Thanks for answering. I didn’t mean the price of the hobbies, but would having to own additional stuff put you off taking up a hobby? Or do you find certain activities off putting if they necessitate acquiring more stuff, regardless of cost?

Not that old, i do get new clothes when needed.

Off putting for me yes if i had to own loads of stuff for a hobbie i most likly wont have the time for.

Did you grow up as military kid? I have a friend much like this who was a military kid and had the mindset of not owning much because they'd have to pack it up

My most important things do.

Mine do too!! I was thinking about people who only own a very small number of possessions. They don’t have a home with furniture etc.

I love your spirit of adventure and your sense of priority - experiences rather than objects. The more you write the more, imo, you buck the trend. 👏
