As title.

If you're going to raise climate issues please make sure you have your facts right before you post. There is a lot of incorrect PR and social media comment about plastic turf going around at the moment.

I do wish people would at least try to read responses on an AMA before commenting. How can it have been in a week if it has already been through two heatwaves? I've had this tiny enclosed garden 4 years, I think I know by now how much detritus it's likely to collect.

We've had two heatwaves this year. The first one started on 22nd May so OP has had her plastic grass at least 39 days.

It is impossible to believe you tbh.

You won't show a picture of the actual thing (which I understand)
But you also profess to not even know what product you have even bought
And equally conveniently it was done by two young men who simultaneously fit the world's best artificial grass that is indistinguishable from the real thing, does not age a jot in years and looks absolutely perfect; while also they don't have a website (that you will give us, for no clear reason) or even a name or even the school they allegedly did. And all the while while no other person in real life or online has ever managed to also install the same plastic perfection. You'd think every single person would be buying this "I can't believe it's not real grass" you have and there'd be reviews up to your knees raving about it.

You knew full well the first thing people would ask is to see this astonishing substance but you are avoiding every possible means of providing us with a way to do so.

If you'd just been honest about the fact that yes it is fake grass and yes you can tell but we like it anyway, it would at least have been something. Lying when we all know you are lying is pointless.

I have already said that you can tell it is fake because it is too perfect.

Do not call me a liar.

They're ornaments, they aren't pretending to be real flowers, they're just to add some colour in the bark topped raised beds. You can find them for sale in all sorts of places.

I'm calling troll.

There's no way a real person has fake flowers AND fake grass, in a garden with no trees anywhere near it.

I suppose if you blow a large amount of money on something, you need to convince yourself that it looks absolutely identical to actual grass.

Imdunfer
But it does.

<snip>oh and avoid that it always always looks like plastic grass up close I assume?

Imdunfer
<snip> Your last point is incorrect. You would have to touch ours to realise.

What is this then, if not you telling all and sundry your artificial grass is totally indistinguishable to the real thing until you are nose to blade and actually touching it?

Also, still no links eh? According to a google search of "most premium 40mm artificial grass available", it is likely to be something like Halo Grass or Tuda Grass. And while yes I agree they do look better than many, you can still tell they are fake even from their best promotional shots.

40mm Artificial Grass | Ultra-Realistic Luxury Lawn | Halo

Looking for the most realistic artificial grass? Halo 40mm features a dense, soft pile, natural colour blend and bio-based backing. Ideal for premium UK gardens.

I am not a troll. That is exactly what I have got. I've got ceramic flower outdoor ornaments not "fake flowers". I'll tell you that I bought them from Temu but I'm sure that will garner me even more abuse.

I actually hope it is a troll because I'd like to have hope for mankind for the planets future...

Ireallycantthinkofagoodone · 01/07/2026 18:28

Oh my goodness - the number of posters who honestly believe that fake grass is ruining the planet is laughable.

You can hate it, I don’t care. But don’t get so hysterical…….

Imdunfer · 01/07/2026 18:29

I'm out of this thread now because the people abusing me are not listening to any of the other posters telling them about their own positive experiences. I'm not outing myself or exposing myself to any more comments about my personal taste for my little garden by posting photos. And I will not sit here and read people calling me a liar and a troll when I have prided myself all my life on being a truthful person.

I don’t care if Kortneee from the local estate has lovely plastic grass for her staffies to shit on, and I don’t think it’s going to kill the planet.

I just think it’s absolutely beyond hideous and utterly tasteless.

And I dare say that you also have things that others would consider hideous and tasteless.
Fortunately, we are all different in this life.

Frequency · 01/07/2026 18:37

It's not really a garden, OP, is it? Gardens have life; that's kind of the point of them. You have a 100% manmade space without a roof.

Piglet89 · 01/07/2026 19:58

Judging · 30/06/2026 12:55

Come on then? Why?

I’d be embarrassed. You might as well fly a flag saying ‘we have no taste’ while you’re at it.

How to you feel about plastic pollution, soil life, environmental impact? I tend to think those with plastic grass are a bit thick. Am I right?

I had a plastic lawn out the back in our old mid terrace. I studied at Cambridge and most definitely am not even a tiny bit thick.

PinkMagpie · 01/07/2026 22:00

Imdunfer · 01/07/2026 08:58

That's excellent. I don't want a wild garden I want a flat open area and paving and/or aggregate don't appeal.

OP your commitment to “I want, I want, I want” to the detriment of all around you is hilarious. You are very Violet Elizabeth Bott

This is what I mean when I say it is not a question of snobbery. It is a question of taste

I quite like that hippo (not sarcasm)! You could have got some blue carpet in the shape of a pond for it :). Only joking, people should be free to decorate their gardens as they like, while it's not for me, in small spaces I can see how it makes sense

Gosh, I certainly have no problem you are a real person who likes plastic grass and rusted metal garden ornaments. I mean, someone buys that stuff.
