If you're going to raise climate issues please make sure you have your facts right before you post. There is a lot of incorrect PR and social media comment about plastic turf going around at the moment.

Seems like a “wind ‘em up and watch them go” post to me.

My friend has a neighbour who installed this and the owner hoovers it daily, sometimes twice daily. She then mops it with a strong smelling bleach solution which is then inhaled by her immediate neighbours, where the smell in this heat has been really overpowering.

I understand the slow maintenance thing is something that draws people to these, what made you choose to do the please OP?

What will you do about the accumulation of natural material on top eg leaves and stuff? I remember my son’s nursery had some fake grass in a shady area of heavy traffic and they hated it because it needed to be vacuumed every day!

Our neighbour has one. All of the local cats come to visit to piss on it. She complains daily about the smell and posts on the local Facebook pages asking people to control their cats.

Get microclover if you like the appearance of grass but not the maintenance. It has a low growing height, so it doesn't need mowing half as often as grass (or at all if you're not bothered about it being ultra neat), it doesn't stink, it's good for the soil and very bee-friendly.

Whilst I adore my natural garden and grass - I did see lots of courtyard style gardens in London when we were looking to move and was surprised at how natural they look. Many people had planted other plants in raised planters.beds etc to offset the carbon effect and it can be very practical if you have pets and only a small space. I am assuming it’s a small, cute garden space and not 17hectares of lawn?
