All prophets bowed in prostration to pray to their creator and sustainer God. From Adam, peace be upon him until the last and final Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon them all.

You will insult me and my religion but I will not do as you and lower myself to that level. I have nothing to prove to you and I am not insecure as you very apparently are. I am firm in my faith.

So do you believe Jesus was Jewish? Genuine question

WhoevenamIinlife · 23/02/2025 20:29

BaMamma · 23/02/2025 20:12

Jesus bowed in prostation and prayer as any other Muslim and Prophet and believer forehead on the ground.

No, he didn't. Jesus was Jewish, not Muslim, and existed several centuries before Mohammed ever dreamed of flying a donkey type creature.

Ahh your back! Welcome.

This is about Islamic beliefs. It’s ok that you don’t know much about what Islam believes but challenging it in this way doesn’t help the debate. Each Abrahamic religion has their view on Jesus. I’ve seen Jews on here post that Jesus was a heretic, which is clearly at odds with the Christian faith, but it change in any way what Christians believe

With your posting history, posting things like this only confirms that it is not radical Islam that you allegedly fear but have an apparent dislike of Islam as a whole.

I can assure you that we would, and very much have when there have been similar threads about Judaism. MN loves to hate and deride all religions

I haven't noticed this. There was a thread by a Hasidic Jewish woman recently, maybe it was an AMA, I can't remember, but I noticed how everyone was very polite to her. I noticed the contrast between those comments and the comments on the Muslim AMAs.

How is stating a historical fact insulting to your religion?

What makes you think I'm insecure, and about what?

There's evidence that Jesus was an actual person and that he was Jewish, and he existed long before Mohammed, so how could he be Muslim?

onetwothreefourfive11 · 23/02/2025 20:35

How do you get the willpower to fast all day for Ramadan?

I need to lose weight but I'm obsessed with food

I haven't heard this argument that Jesus was a heretic, but if it was said by Jews surely they are saying he was heretical to that believe system, not to Christianity.

There have been threads so bad the whole threads have been deleted, and at other times just the awful posts. Just because you haven't personally seen it doesn't mean it hasn't happened

RainingRoses · 23/02/2025 20:36

ExcessiveNumberOfNinjas · 23/02/2025 20:15

That's very true, although currently Israel is the only Jewish state in the world and it is largely accepting and tolerant of LGB people, as are most 'western' and largely Christian countries. I'm sure there are homophobic Christians and Jews among more conservative branches of both religions, but in general they are not in the majority and the laws of those countries protect LGB people, irrespective of how any individuals may feel about it.

Whereas I can't think of any countries in the Islamic world where it's safe and legal to be out as a gay person, with the possible exception of Turkey, and in many of those countries, I am sure you are well aware, it's basically a death sentence.

There are many countries where it is a criminal act to practice homosexuality, and yes it's true that not all of them are Muslim majority countries, but by and large it's the exception to the rule if they are not. Whereas it's very much the exception to the rule that you can be openly gay and safe in a majority Muslim country. I don't think you need me to tell you that there is far less tolerance of practising homosexuals in the Islamic world than there is outside of it.

But you are applying western standards to non-western countries. Before anyone twists my words in any way I do not condone homophobia in any shape or form. But the eastern world generally is behind the western world when it comes to homosexuality. The Islamic world is very anti homosexuality, that’s not in denial, but it’s not a problem that is exclusive to the Islamic world.

Is that me you’re talking about? Mumsnet doesn’t allow sock puppeting anymore, they removed the name change function on the same thread.

I’m genuinely interested in the Jesus thing.

I’ve definitely seen it. I’m sure you can find it if you search. And yes, of course it would have been said in relation to that belief system. Just as this thread is talking about Jesus in relation to the Islamic belief system. Challenging it as wrong because Christianity says otherwise doesn’t change the status of Jesus in Islam.

I think it's absurd and insulting to Judaism, and to Christianity, to say that Jesus was Muslim, I'm waiting to hear how it is insulting to Islam to affirm that he was Jewish.

I didn't think it was possible to sock puppet any more? If you change names between threads your name only changes when you post on a new thread. It reverts to your original name when you re-post on a thread you've already posted on.

If the Islamic belief system states that Jesus was a Muslim, then it's a lie, so surely, you're not saying that?

Seeing as Jews don’t believe that Jesus was the Messiah at all and rather a false prophet, isn’t your post somewhat hypocritical by deliberately ignoring how Christians might feel about how Jews view Jesus?

How could Jesus be a Muslim when he was born some 5-600 years before the invention of Islam?

WhoevenamIinlife · 23/02/2025 20:49

BaMamma I think you need to take up a hobby rather than trying to goad posters on here. Unless that is your hobby. You come across so hellbent on finding an angle to put Islamic beliefs in the firing line. Your own thread has gone quiet as your intentions are becoming clearer and clearer but stop hijacking this space please. I wish you a peaceful evening of doing something other than writing repetitive posts to get some sort of response from someone who hasn't yet come across you. It's boring now.
Yes Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet and not the son of God - of course that's different to the beliefs from Christianity and Judaism otherwise it would be the same religion no? Just be happy somewhere else please.

Can you explain what you mean by false prophet? As I notice @MixedBananas writes ‘peace be upon him’ after mentioning Jesus. Do different Muslims disagree as to whether Jesus was a real prophet or a false one? Again, genuine question (no sock puppeting going on).
