To help those who need educating. Fire away.

You're attempting to answer pp questions, but you do not represent all Muslims in the Uk, I would pressume many interpret the Quran differently and practice their faith differently, too. So, while I see you may be trying to 'educate' people... you simply do not speak for Muslims as a whole... and are just commenting on your experience/ perception. So, unless someone is specifically interested in your lived experience, you are not educating anyone, really. Not in the way you think you are.

I agree. But I have made that pretty clear hence the disclaimer and I have avoided questions I don't think I am knowledgable enough on to answer...

Can I ask why it seems that muslims seem to be the only ones who believe their religion tops everyone elses..? We just don’t see the same intensity and dominance from Christians, Jews, Hindus etc etc..where it’s peaceful and people are respectful of the others more

Is this all Muslims you feel?

@Becauseisaidsookay personally I think in some countries (ie USA) it's the Conservative Christians that try to dominate parts of society and are frequently not very respectful of others.

@Becauseisaidsookay and @Needmorelego Exactly. Christians have always tried to impose their religion on others. Do you know that missionaries still exist? I know a family of missionaries who go to Africa to try and convert people. The Muslims I know (and I know many) are extremely respectful of others beliefs.

Needmorelego · 24/02/2025 10:36

@SallyWD that's true about Missionaries.
Do any non Christian faiths have Missionaries?
(except maybe Jehovah Witnesses and LDS counting them as "not Christian" which some people do)
Scientology maybe?

I don't know. As far as I know it's only Christians but I could be wrong. There's a funny reference to it in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Don't know if you know the show - it's a US comedy featuring a Jewish man, Larry David. He goes off on a rant about how Christians want everyone to worship Jesus. He says Jews never try and convert people but with Christians it's different (quote from the show):

"Why do Christians take everything so personally with Christ, ya know? It's like not only do you have to worship him, you want everybody else to. It's like I like lobster. Do I go around pushing lobster on people? Do I say you must like lobster? "Eat lobster, it's good, it's good!" It's not only where you live, you go to Africa, you travel all over the world, "Eat lobster! Have some more lobster, it's good."

I guess it depends on what your definition of ‘impose’ is. Extremists exist everywhere, however the methods chosen to demonstrate how extreme they are, vary massively.

No they don’t and those religions don’t get as much hate as the other religions. Which they claim to be Islamophobia. They’re not scared of the religion though. It’s a hatred because the majority of Muslims are ethnic minority.

Really? Christians literally and specifically travel around the world to persuade others to become Christian (missionaries converting others). I also had a note through my door this week from a Jehovah's Witness introducing herself and asking if I fancied attending a meeting. Never had that from any of the Muslims' I've known. Ever. And I work mainly with Muslims.

But Sikhs, Hindus are an ethnic minority in this country and no one is scared of/hates them 🤷‍♀️

Just to add I have no hatred towards Muslims before anyone accuses me.

There’s fewer Sikhs and Hindus than Muslim though.

Really? So you haven't seen rallies from the Bible belt, haven't heard of the Jewish prayer “Blessed are you, Lord our God, king of the universe, who has not made me a gentile” and you haven't heard of the many Muslims who have died at the hands of Hindus in India? Obviously all religions feel they are 'better', you wouldn't adhere to a belief system if you didn't feel it was the one true religion.

Just to clarify, that Jewish prayer basically means "thank you for giving me the opportunity to follow your will and your commandments". It's not a negative thing about other religions or those who are atheist, it's showing gratitude that we have all these extra obligations to fulfil because we are Jewish. I know it's weird, but that's the truth behind the prayer 🙂

I agree that every religion obviously think theirs is the correct one though!

It doesn't bother me btw, just illustrating that of course each religion thinks that the others are unbelievers and ergo wrong.
