Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

Yes
and HOW THRILLING

countrytweed · 27/03/2024 20:47

So glad to hear the patient is doing well @veiledsentiments ☺️
I'm now 6.5wks post-op and the discomfort seems a lifetime ago. Still swollen obviously but they're now just part of me instead of alien beings! The best best thing I've ever done - if you're considering it, just know that life is easier and lighter all round. I've got a long way till the final "look", but couldn't be happier right now... especially with summer (hopefully!) around the corner. How are you getting on @sillysausage92?

countrytweed · 27/03/2024 20:48

And @Lauraellferg?

sillysausage92 · 27/03/2024 22:24

It's amazing isn't it @countrytweed ! How quickly you heal and it's all behind you.

I am feeling amazing, 4 weeks post op now. Scars are healing nicely and like you say my boobs just feel mine now and nothing is uncomfortable anymore. I think I'm currently measuring a 34E/32DD which I'm really pleased with as they suit my frame so much better than my 32H did! Plus there is still some swelling so would be happy to settle somewhere from 32C-DD

I am finding a few edges of stitches which are quiets sharp and they seem to rub my skin and cause a pimple - did anyone else get this?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 28/03/2024 01:47

I had this @sillysausage92 and was told to pull them out with tweezers. Not pleasant but not painful.

Lauraellferg · 28/03/2024 09:03

@countrytweed ah I’m so pleased to hear you’re recovering well, it’s so amazing isn’t it and I’m finding friends and family don’t fully understand how life changing it is!! 🩷 the 6 week point definitely was a turning point for me too!

I think it’s taking longer in my head to believe I’ve finally had it done!! 😂

bring on summer and strappy dresses!!

Madagascary · 29/03/2024 08:43

Omg omg

i saw Ania Magliano live and she’s had a reduction!
her tour has almost finished but if there’s any video of her routine I’d recommend

Singletrackmind · 29/03/2024 15:34

Hey everyone so good to hear that you are all doing well and enjoying the wee boobies!! I was looking back at pics of me around 4 weeks and now at 8 months. I was having such a panic at that point and through the first through months, but they were so swollen and stayed that way for ages ... just in case anyone was wondering ... and yes @Lauraellferg ... people don't really realise how significant it is for you .. and actually that's fine .. as long as you are happy!!!

NervousDorothy · 30/03/2024 07:48

Can anyone advise or shed any wisdom on where/how to start looking for a surgeon and how to choose one? Or does anyone have a recommendation for a surgeon in NW England/West Midlands?

Lauraellferg · 30/03/2024 21:11

@Singletrackmind yes mine definitely still feel quite swollen I thought this would have gone down a bit more by the point! I got a bit concerned they were growing back 😂

Singletrackmind · 31/03/2024 12:50

@Lauraellferg .. it takes ages .. much longer than you think. .. be patient

@NervousDorothy .. going to trot out my stock answer to this. Join the UK breast reduction groups on Facebook .. there are 2 and they have lists of surgeons + you'll get recommendations from across the country/ see people's before and afters and ask all the questions you need to. Some surgeons do social media/ have great websites .. others don't and there's no correlation in terms of who is 'good' so word of mouth and those recommendations from the groups are as valuable as any research you do.

When you start this journey it seems like it's a difficult thing to find out about .. but lo and behold there are literally hundreds of women having this done across the country every single week.

I am central south, and I didn’t look at all, my surgeon had done an operation on a member of my family and I know that I liked him and trusted him. I can’t imagine how much it costs if you keep having consultations though because they charge. Mine didn’t charge me for my consultation because of my family link, but otherwise you could be racking up hundreds of pounds

veiledsentiments · 31/03/2024 18:37

Just had a long chat with YD. I bloody love that child. She’s so positive. I have always felt slightly worried whether we did the right thing, but she convinces me every time. I worry, being 4 hours away, but she’s doing fantastically well. Thanks be.

Singletrackmind · 31/03/2024 20:41

@Madagascary makes a good point @NervousDorothy consultations are potentially a big expense … typically £150-250. However, prices are also going up … from circa £7.5-£8k in the north/ regions to £10-15k or more in London/ the south (I paid £9k last year in the SW/ included lipo) & it’s worth factoring in the consultation costs. I only saw 2 surgeons/ chose the second one but was happy to pay given that it is a big thing to do!
@veiledsentiments it’s a big surgery & not without risk but pretty much the only ‘regret’ you’ll hear is ‘why didn’t I do this sooner’ … really pleased for her, that she can just now get on with life 😀

Madagascary · 31/03/2024 21:10

I’ve paid £9000 on the south coast, and that was a bit more because of the liposuction

Mazybabe · 01/04/2024 22:52

Would anyone mind sharing your surgeon’s on here.

veiledsentiments · 02/04/2024 00:31

Hi for any Irish girlies, I can recommend John Curran based from the Bon Secours hospital in Kerry & Limerick.

Madagascary · 07/04/2024 17:24

Anyone who trawls through both of these threads, deserves a medal and a free breast reduction

As the OP of the first thread, I deserve a commission from the surgeons who gained a client from this thread and for every bra sold.

You do! Something I’d thought about for years and your first thread made me go for it - best decision ever!
