Following on from our epic first thread I had a breast reduction

We are a group of ladies who have breast reductions for a number of reasons and are all at different stages of recovery.

I had a breast reduction AMA | Mumsnet

I had a breast reduction two weeks ago. I’ve gone from a 34GG/H to a 34D. Crack on with any questions!

Brilliant news
do tell her to expect the liposuction scar to hurt longer - or rather ache
how old is she? I’ve forgotten

veiledsentiments · 06/03/2024 06:59

She’ll be 22 next Wednesday. So she has her whole youth to enjoy not having to carry round all that weight. I’m so glad that we have got this done.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 06/03/2024 07:10

Congratulations to her! Lovely news.

Singletrackmind · 06/03/2024 09:25

Fantastic … lots of rest but she’s young & will bounce back! What a fab Mum you are, feel quite emotional for you/ her as I know how much it would have meant to me at that age & how it wld never have been open to me. Great, just great.

countrytweed · 06/03/2024 09:49

So glad it all went well for her! And agree that having a supportive parent is everything 🥰

Madagascary · 06/03/2024 18:37

@veiledsentiments agree that you’ve been a brilliant mum encouraging her to do this. Can I ask did the Lipo cost extra? I think mine bumped it up an extra thousand pounds

veiledsentiments · 06/03/2024 19:39

No. It was included. We paid upfront. All in all, just shy of £14,000. Went with a recommended surgeon from a Dr friend of ours in London. Worth every penny. She’s in a good place.

CoolShoeshine · 06/03/2024 22:06

@veiledsentiments Best wishes for your daughter’s recovery. How fantastic to have a procedure like this at her age so she can have so many years of benefit from it 😊

CatrinVennastin · 06/03/2024 23:11

@veiledsentiments hope your daughter has a restful night and an easy recovery.

I had my dressings off yesterday Smile so pleased with my new boobs they are so perky!

I've got thin tape on my scars now and around my nipples. I can feel there is some swelling and bruising still. How long does it take for the swelling to subside?

countrytweed · 07/03/2024 20:05

I have the same question @sillysausage92! 3.5wks out and still lots of swelling... mine look square atm but I'm sure they'll drop into a more natural shape at some point. Delighted with the small size though.

Singletrackmind · 07/03/2024 21:09

@sillysausage92 @countrytweed swelling such a good question & I stressed about it a lot 😬! I think it depends on your surgeon’s technique & how much you had removed etc ….

However, my experience was MUCH longer than you think. Mine felt hard & projecting 😂 for at least 8-10 weeks. They seemed very ‘boxy’ & high as the surgery pulls them up to allow for them to settle. I found it really odd … like 5he were stuck on!

At my 3 month check my surgeon said there was still a lot of swelling. For me it took until about 5 -6 months for them to feel soft & look more settled & natural. I’m at 7 months now & my surgeon said last week up to 12 months for your final shape.

Early doors ladies, take it easy & give yourselves time to heal.

Madagascary · 07/03/2024 21:24

Absolutely ages. Maybe even months

countrytweed · 07/03/2024 21:29

Thanks @Singletrackmind - that's really helpful... happy for it all to take its time, I guess I just wanted to manage my expectations with realistic timelines 👍🏼 My stomach seems to be especially bloated right now, it's probably a combination of after-effects of GA and the fact I'm not doing my usual weight training etc and diastasis recti exercises.

Lesserspottedbex · 07/03/2024 23:15

Hi Everyone. Does anyone have recommendations for a surgeon in the East Midlands area? TIA x

sillysausage92 · 11/03/2024 09:17

At what point does the hardness turn to soft? My breasts feel hard and swollen still and I'm 2 weeks post op. I know swelling can take a while as PP have mentioned but is the hardness swelling or is that something else?

I'm really enjoying the super perkiness! Someone tell me they don't drop too much?! 😁

countrytweed · 11/03/2024 12:31

@sillysausage92 I hear you. 4wks and still rock hard mostly under armpits. Skin felt v warm on underside this morning when I was doing my E45. Am reassured it could just be healing inflammation but keeping an eye on it.

Singletrackmind · 11/03/2024 13:05

@sillysausage92 like I said … months! At 3 months if you prodded my boobs they were a bit soft but still hard underneath. There’s a massive amount of internal stitching in there. I’m at 7 months & it’s only recently that my boobs have felt ‘naturally soft’.
They aren’t under my chin like at the beginning but they are fecking perky & surgeon said they won’t drop anymore just soften.

I was exactly like you at this stage … it’s WAY too early in the process … be patient as they will change a lot and feel much more normal with time 👍

veiledsentiments · 12/03/2024 17:30

We are back from having the bandages off and the first lot of tape put on. Lovely people in the hospital, full of good advice about what she could and shouldn’t do. Quite a lot of bruising but on the whole looking really good. Both nurses were full of enthusiasm and kept telling her how nice they were. Looks like I could be good to fly home next Wednesday. We went out for lunch when we got back. Hardly recognised the small boobied woman sat across from me.

sillysausage92 · 14/03/2024 17:15

Ah that's amazing @veiledsentiments !

I've had my 2 week appt and they removed the tape and cut loose stitches. One part at the T junction on the right was weeping but they were not worried and put some gauze on and said to come back next week so they can check it over.

I do have a question about nipples. The areola looks a bit mangled Confused some of the skin above and around the areola is sort of puckered and has lines/wrinkles in it - is this going to settle and flatten out?

Thecountdownn · 14/03/2024 17:38

Hi @sillysausage92 I think we had the same surgeon! Mine were slightly puckered and it has flattened and healed, has taken a little longer though

Mazybabe · 14/03/2024 22:12

Can anyone recommend a surgeon as I would like to have this but no idea of how to sift through to find a good surgeon.

Lauraellferg · 14/03/2024 23:07

@sillysausage92 I had the same feeling/ question about mine! Very wrinkled and puckered and was hoping it’s normal and will flatten out over time! 🤞

Lauraellferg · 14/03/2024 23:08

Also how long did everyone wear the bra for? Originally he said 3 weeks day and night then 3 weeks just night then AFTER my op he suggested I keep it on for 3 months! So slight confusion 😂

Thecountdownn · 14/03/2024 23:10

@Mazybabe what area are you in? There is a Facebook group for uk breast reductions which has a lot of information for different surgeons
