Final thing to add... I came on on day 3 post-op and wow that was not great timing 😵 Swelling x2. So if you're regular and you can schedule your op as far away from your period as possible, I would.

CatrinVennastin · 28/02/2024 11:30

Morning

Thank you for the reassurance everyone.

@Singletrackmind the boobs on your body bit is exactly how I feel!!

@veiledsentiments hoping everything goes well for your DD

@sillysausage92 hope you are feeling better today

11 weeks to go for me! Realised too that I will qualify for company sick pay on 1st April so that's good.

sillysausage92 · 28/02/2024 16:06

@CatrinVennastin good luck those 11 weeks will fly by.

I'm not sure if it was this thread or elsewhere I read the tip about using a travel neck pillow but it's been invaluable and I'm only on day 2! To enable me to sleep/rest sitting up it's just perfect to rest my chin/neck onto. The proper way with the opening done at the back. I've used it in hospital, the drive home and in bed at home today. I also have the V shaped pillow which is helping to keep me upright too!

countrytweed · 28/02/2024 19:36

Yes to the travel neck pillow + v-shape pillow + wedge pillow! I feel like the princess and the pea but it's bloody comfy 😂

Singletrackmind · 28/02/2024 20:03

Hello @sillysausage92 sounds like it’s going well, yay for you! @countrytweed the time does pass quickly! The sleeping propped up thing … I honestly didn’t really mange that well …. Just slid down 😂 … but I did keep religiously on my back, which I’ve actually stuck with quite happily.
@CatrinVennastin totally welcome. Honestly it can get overwhelming if you think about all the ‘what ifs’. Stay busy, get prepared, eat well & you’ll be totally fine.
Had a check in with my surgeon today, all good. She says there’s still ‘softening’ to happen & it’s 12 months for the final result. When I look back now they are already so different from the Barbie/ slightly boxy early days.

sillysausage92 · 29/02/2024 04:41

@Singletrackmind I totally get the barbie boobs 😂 I kind of like them as they're sooo perky! I'm dying to know what my final size will be, I measured (which I know is daft as there will be so much swelling right now) and I'm only 2 inches less boob right now. They do feel and look smaller than just 2 inches though.

So today is 2 days post op, constipation is not good so I'm going to keep increasing my fibre. I've also stopped the codeine as didn't really need it since being at the hospital. I guess maybe a short walk might help?!

Did anyone else have the pico dressings? I really wasn't expecting those and to be flashing away through the night!

veiledsentiments · 27/02/2024 06:31

How did you all feel immediately after the operation in the coming round stage? YD is booked in to stay the night in the hospital as the surgeon was slightly concerned with the distance from home, so I think it’s probably best if we use it. This means that she will most likely be operated on later in the day. When my mum had her mastectomy we went to see her after, but she was pretty much out of it, and not up for visitors. I have looked into staying in a premier inn nearby. However, this would leave my 90 year old FIL home alone for the night. I was thinking maybe stay with her until she goes for the op, and then drive back first thing next day to collect her. Although I do really want to see her after. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

I was lucky and felt pretty fine after my op, it wasn’t until about 5pm that I can round and was taken back to my room not long after. The anaesthetic meant I was comfortable and in quite a euphoric mood. I was fine to get up and use the loo and eat a sandwich that the nurses provided. I did have a brief visit from my dh which was nice but not really necessary as I was checked on loads by the nurses throughout the evening and night. Your dd should be fine without you being there unless you really want to.

sillysausage92 · 02/03/2024 15:17

I was definitely not up for visitors for the whole day afterwards, I was completely out of it and in quite a bit of pain, nauseous and could barely stand! I guess it affects everyone differently and it's hard to know how you will feel.

Madagascary · 03/03/2024 11:50

I was largely in bed when I got home and occasionally got up to the loo, but because of my liposuction I found a lifting myself quite hard.

After about three days I could move about fine but yes honestly all of you give yourselves a break after the op!!

Madagascary · 03/03/2024 11:51

I had my operation mid-morning and was eating lunch later. Stayed the night and went home the next morning so I don’t think there’s anything odd about staying overnight.

Singletrackmind · 03/03/2024 15:35

My op was late ... someone else having 'all of the work' before me 😂so I wasn't back in recovery until after 9pm ... I wouldn't have wanted to have seen anyone then [apart from the lovely nurses obv] , but was fine the next morning as I had to be up and ready to go by 8am.

Lauraellferg · 03/03/2024 22:45

Hi all! Two and bit weeks post op! Surgeon says to remove tapes next week and moisture scars, any recommendations for creams I can use?! Thanks!

Madagascary · 04/03/2024 05:07

hi

scar cream from boots etc

Martinisarebetterdirty · 04/03/2024 07:17

@Lauraellferg I was told to use my normal body lotion for a few weeks before going on to the silicon scar treatment. I just used the super rich clarins one as I’m used to that. I think as long as you’re keeping them moisturised it doesn’t matter what you use.

veiledsentiments · 04/03/2024 09:31

Tomorrow for DD. Woke up this morning at 5:30 and it was still very dark. Car place have emailed to say they can only give me a manual. Have decided to Uber to hospital to save me on the faff of trying to find parking etc, as it says limited parking. Will train it back home and pick her up on Wednesday morning. Decisions have been made. Thanks all for your input.

countrytweed · 04/03/2024 11:44

@Lauraellferg I'm taking my tapes off today (3wks post op) and have been recommended good old E45 cream by my surgeon, then add silicon gel in a few weeks.
@veiledsentiments Hope all goes well tomorrow 😊

sillysausage92 · 04/03/2024 14:18

Anyone that had PICO dressings did it hurt to have them removed?

Once they're off will I be able to see my nipples as I haven't seen them yet! Can't see any areola or nipple and I would really like to see but I'm presuming fresh tapes will go on once the PICO is off?

Thecountdownn · 04/03/2024 18:21

@sillysausage92 i don’t recall removing the pico dressing hurt at all. You’ll see your nipples before they’re taped up. I was checked for any protruding stitches along my incisions so I had a few minutes to stare at them.

Lauraellferg · 04/03/2024 21:21

Thanks ladies I’ll buy some e45! Also was wondering I have a slight rash/redness on the lower part of my boob did anyone else have this? Not sure if it’s just from wearing the bra 24/7. Thanks!

Do wish her luck. She’ll not regret

CoolShoeshine · 05/03/2024 17:41

@Lauraellferg yes I had red patches on the lower part of my boobs and directly underneath. Pretty sure it was from wearing the bra 24/7 and having sensitive skin anyway. Surgeon told me after 6 weeks to go braless as much as I want to get air to the area, so basically from one extreme to the other!

Lauraellferg · 05/03/2024 18:48

@CoolShoeshine thank you! I have sensitive skin too so thought that might be the case! Also does anyone know when I can have a bath! And not just a shower 😂 miss a good bath!

sillysausage92 · 05/03/2024 19:38

I'm 7 days post op and been having shallow baths for a few days, tonight I've had more water and just made sure not to get the pico dressings wet, the tape got a bit wet at the side but surgeon said that was fine and to just dry with a hairdryer .

Singletrackmind · 05/03/2024 20:53

@veiledsentiments hope it’s gone well!
creams everyone … I used BioOil for a while then switched out to my normal moisturiser, it’s actually the massage that makes the difference, that said I do use LaRochePosy Cicaplast cream on the scars (already had it for my face) and have since seen a few surgeons recommend it.

Baths… no submerging until totally healed is the usual advice👍

veiledsentiments · 05/03/2024 23:23

We came home! I am so bloody proud of her. The surgeon reckons he took over 1/2 kg off each boob. A little bit of lipo to even them out. He seemed so proud of what they were going to look like. I hope he’s right. She said in the car home that her back didn’t ache anymore, which made my heart sing. She’s asleep now, propped up on her pregnancy pillow. Thank you all for the thoughts and good wishes. Onwards and upwards I hope.
