Hey! Bored and thought this could be fun. As I've said above I smoke cannabis daily, Have done for years. Only in the evening. I'm a mum and my DH does too. If anyone has any questions ask away :-)

I’d recommend watching Dr Amens videos on cannabis and how bad it is for mental health.

I wonder if you are my parent's neighbours? They smoke weed in their garden a lot and have a young child. It stinks and prevents my parents from enjoying their garden, they have to go inside when they start. They also neglect their young child, my parents have thought about reporting them about the neglect but they worry about the backlash as they are the only people who would know what is going on as direct neighbours. It's a very sad situation.

So are you pissing your neighbours off and neglecting your kids getting stoned of an evening?

someone needs to report - scared about backlash is not a good enough reason to not report

Except boys are not getting stabbed to death by dealing in alcohol 🤷‍♀️

Alcohol is infinitely more responsible for domestic violence within the home.

bookworm44 · 03/05/2023 15:08

Would everybody judging feel differently if it was legal or would you still hate it because it smells so strong?

Movingonupi · 03/05/2023 15:09

Have to admit I took drugs for fun before kids, not anymore though I’m boring and settled down! So this isn’t judgy in terms of drug taking per se, but don’t you worry about your kids going to school stinking of it, and then (I don’t know how old they are) telling people at school? Could SS be called? Also have you ever had a situation where you need to drive a child somewhere on an evening, maybe in an emergency what do you do in those situations?

How is your mental health?

It's good! I'm a pretty positive person & enjoy exercise etc which also helps!

The sooner they legalise or decriminalise it the better, it is working out ok in numerous European countries. There would be no county lines if people could buy it legally.

NortieTortie · 03/05/2023 15:11

Are you concerned about SS?

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 03/05/2023 15:12

Do you realise how much you, your house and your kids will hang on to the smell?

YukoandHiro · 03/05/2023 15:13

What happens if your kid wakes in the night and needs hospital etc? Obvs true of alcohol too, but if you have one glass of wine you're still legal to drive. Not so with w joint.

How do you feel about curling the illegal drug trade?

It's not something I think of often but it's not great is it and probably the most negative thing I think of when doing it!

I have a school friend who has smoked daily for perhaps 30 years now.

When I talk to her, even if she hasn't been smoking, she seems high, out of it and like she has suffered a brain injury.

Yet she says there is absolutely no difference in her state of mind whether she has had a smoke or not.

Do you find it no longer has an effect? Do you still notice what does to you?

(I should add, I haven't seen her for about 5 years. I hate to think of what she's like now.)

RagingWoke · 03/05/2023 14:25

How did you find a reliable supplier?

It took a while but DH has a reliable guy, very discreet and very good stuff not 'skunk' which is what's commonly smoked.

do you not feel guilty about bringing your kids up in a house stinking of weed?

poor kids with not just 1 but 2 pothead parents. Everyone will know as they probably stink of it from the house too.

They don't smell at all don't smoke in the house and it doesn't affect them at all so no I don't feel bad.

How do you feel about your neighbours having to smell that god awful smell wafting over their fence every flipping day??🤬😡🤬😡

We are detached and neighbours wouldn't smell it. Never had any complaints

Some of these are precious... 😂Not everyone smoking a little bit of weed is feeding county lines and child trafficking... I know PLENTY of people who grow a bit/smoke a bit/sell a bit. No child trafficking involved. And what is with the assumption that people smoke in their houses?? Does anyone really these days? I wonder what type of responses 'I drink a bottle of prosecco a night because my 'middle class' life is soooo stressful AMA' would receive?

It's actually excellent for pain management, and although I agree can cause mental health issues for some this clearly isn't a blanket side effect. Speaking as somebody who doesn't smoke, but lived for a long time with a regular user for medicinal benefits, a lot of these assumptions and nasty comments are very naive. It's personal experience though I guess.

Would you say you are addicted?

Hmm this is a hard one. It's certainly habitual but I could also stop at any point like to go on holiday & it wouldn't bother me

OP posts:
takecareteddybear · 03/05/2023 15:29

@OhhhhhhhhBiscuits @FeltedDogs I do feel bad for that and it is the thing that makes me think about stopping the most.

As for the being boring bit which is something a lot of people think about weed smokers I am very social and would pick to be out with friends over sitting in and smoking. Some of my friends drink a bottle of wine a night I like a smoke to relax me.

Do you care that your house smells and your kids are being exposed to drugs?

Never smoke in the house or around the kids

OP posts:
allmyliesaretrue · 03/05/2023 15:30

Will you be happy for your DC to follow in your footsteps?

I'd be surprised if your kids don't smell of it. You probably wouldn't notice. Someday, their teacher might.

DrySherry · 03/05/2023 15:30

So imo it's a lifestyle choice. If your happy, and are sure you won't pass the habit on to your kids, then crack on and get as high as you like. Being a pot head though does mean you will miss out on opertunities in life, just by the nature of the habit. Getting stoned on a daily basis is fine if that's all you want from life. It can lead to psychosis though, and you will be completely unaware you have any problem, again by the nature of the habit.

kethuphouse · 03/05/2023 15:30

How do you stop yourself from not laughing in the face of the hypocrisy of daily alcohol drinkers ? OP, you're a brave soul starting this thread. You are in Mumsnet territory, the land of middle class binge drinkers and the denial that comes with that ..

00100001 · 03/05/2023 14:35

Did you introduce it to your DH or did he bring it to you and your kids?

DH was injured badly years ago in the armed forces. He struggled with pain management for years. Tried some & it worked amazingly for him, he never introduced it to me I had already tried it many times in my youth but I did eventually start having one with him each night. Kids are never around or aware of it.
