Great thread - ignore the naysayers.

I think a lot of my curiosity is sex based Grin. I am kind of curious as to whether "scissoring" is actually something lesbians do in the bedroom. I always thought it was a bit if a myth!

OMG! Bloody scissoring is NOT a thing! ( tho I’m sure some straight folkwill be along in a mo to tell me it is cos they’ve seen it in a film))
Think about it - what would that position actually DO for either party?? Trust me, fingers and tongues are MUCH more efficient and get great results!

It’s a bit of a joke the whole scissoring thing, almost an insider joke but nah no good. See also - lesbians with really long nails. There’s a reason gay women need to keep shorter nails...

’Are you keen to get back to work?

Sorry , I thought you said Thespian grin‘

Ba dada! It’s been a while since someone dusted off that old classic... what about a joke about a Lebanese???

Some straight men genuinely HATE us, I’ e experienced it. As if I’m somehow a threat to their heterosexuality.

Lots of straight men see just about everything as a threat to their heterosexuality.

Ichayetheneu · 19/04/2020 19:27

@TheSandman
You could well be right

Your top five lesbian role models in the movies. (Characters not actors.)

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 09:51

Don't know about role models exactly as there aren't that many characters to chose from who I'd consider 'role model' worthy ( in fact that probably goes to the kick-ass non queer characters like Wonder Woman or captain Marvel) but fav. characters would be - Carol, Cate Blanchett in 'Carol', Natasha Lyonne as Megan n 'But I'm a Cheerleader',
Noemie Merlant as Marianne in the gorgeous ' Portrait of a Lady on Fire, though both leads are fab in that. Angelina Jolie as Gia, in Gia, though her character is a trainwreck obvs, and either fo the two leads in 'Kiss Myg', and 'Desert Hearts' and both leads in that will always have a place in my heart as that was the first ever 'gay' film I saw, and one of the few films with a lesbian character who doesn't have something tragic happen to them - no sudden death, no murder, no dying on their flipping wedding day or immediately after consummating a relationship like so many lesbian characters do in tv and movies. no 'bury your gays' that film.

I know.

I asked because I was looking for positive lesbian films to share with my DDs.
I peaked too soon by starting with Show Me Love. I'd forgotten about Desert Hearts. I remember loving the book back in the day.

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 15:16

oh, well if you want decent LGBT films ( where the lesbian doesn't get bumped off) there's Bound - bit rude, how old are DDs?? Imagine me & You, Saving Face, Better than Chocolate, Incredibly True Adventures, My Summer of Love, When Night is Falling,D.E.Bs , Miseducation of Cameron Post, Princess Cyd, Nina's Heavenly Delights

Sorry, if my question is a bit graphic, its a biological query, I have always wondered about.

When ovulating, do you not crave a cock? Maybe its just me then but around ovulation, it was all I could think about and love a good rodgering, yes, as you say fingers and tongues work a treat but nothing beats a good old hard cock in meGrin

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 15:44

'When ovulating, do you not crave a cock?'

Having never been attracted to a man no I don't. A good old shag, penetration, orgasm - absolutely! Just not from a man.

OMG *meltedface. I can’t believe you just said that!!!!

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 16:21

Having spent a lot of time talking about sex with my gay girlfriends and straight girlfriends over the years I've deffo come away with the opinion that the lesbians have better sex! They certainly seem to have more orgasms that's for sure...

@Ichayetheneu
Thanks for the (whatever the movie equivalent of a 'reading list' is).

DD1 loved Bound (she's 17). And I used to have a copy of Incredibly True Adventures... I wonder where it went.

Thanks again!

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 16:28

There are lots of other half decent, but sometimes super cheesy, lesbian films knocking around but they're easy to find if you look! And you can often pick them up cheap online or HMV ( arthouse or 'international' sections!
I'd should have added Summertime, the ~french movie, it's lovely... I think it was on BBC recently so should be on iPlayer still.

otterturk · 20/04/2020 16:36

This isn't a question as such but is it something you've encountered...

I'm a woman in a relationship with a man but over the years I've definitely been attracted to women. I haven't tried to take this anywhere because - this sounds ridiculous - I'm so nervous about what to do sexually with another woman. Men are so easy, women are not! I wouldn't want to be awful and disappointing in bed with a woman and it really isn't "do what you would like" is it?

TheSandman · 20/04/2020 17:18

@Ichayetheneu
Double thank you with sprinkles! I saw Summertime last year sometime and have been trying to remember the name of it for weeks now!

Ichayetheneu · 20/04/2020 17:36

‘and it really isn't "do what you would like" is it?‘

It is and it isn’t! I was so nervous the first time a slept with a girl, about a billion years ago now, but the thing I remember was how easy and fun and natural it was. Oh, and the sex was mind blowing.
It is so familiar even when it’s not and women are really, really good at guiding and showing you what they want, need without making you feel like a fool.
My advice, if you do decide to get intimate with a woman in the future, is make sure you’re genuinely attracted to her - don’t just grab the nearest available woman who’s up for it and/or having someone who is a little experienced is probably better than two newbies trying to figure it out...
The best thing about sex with a woman is it’s not you get one shot and that’s it, if you see what I mean... you can go back and forth for hours, if you want to...

Hello OP. Insert secret handshake here... (fellow lesbian)

I TOTALLY get what you mean about things being more subtle now. These days we're more offended by 'and who's the REAL mum?' than by being shouted 'DYKES'. Both upsetting, just one more subtle than the other.

TheSandman · 04/05/2020 01:35

@Ichayetheneu - Thank You! Better than Chocolate is wonderful!
