What on earth is curry loaf?

A snack/meal made in a loaf tin with a can of chickpea dahl, a packet of savoury rice and eggs. I usually get 4 serving out of a 2lb loaf tin

I’ve lost over 15 stone AMA

Did the weight loss sort of stop at any point? After the birth of DC2 I decided I needed to lose 5 stone, I lost 3.5 stone but then it sort of stopped

Not really Ive had gains losses and maintains and been up and down a like, but I’ve just stuck to the plan and been consistent with food and exercise and it’s carried on coming off. I’ve had to be 100% honest with myself, if you cheat the only person you are cheating is yourself. If I’ve had a gain then I’ll complete a food diary for a week and I get a loss the following week. For me it’s been about not giving up

I've shared your journey with you and so so proud of you and found you an inspiration on my own journey. You've come so far and so supportive of others.

What's your favourite recipe to cook?

eeyoredebbie · 17/07/2018 10:56

I’m happy to share my Instagram on this thread but I don’t want to be reported for advertising or something!

What's your favourite recipe to cook?

Curry loaf at the minute I think! I like doing things with recipe kits and keep things fresh and new but I definitelylook for simple recipes

Things I make every week are carrot cake baked oats, weetabix muffins and egg wraps

Wow - your before and after pics are amazing. You mentioned loose skin earlier, can I ask specifically, how the weight loss affected your neck (which looks great in the photo) and your boobs? Also, please can you share your recipe for carrot cake oats? Thank you!

My neck seems to have shaped up nicely although I’m sure we all have a position where we’d have a double chin.

My boobs have not fared well. Very droopy and more skin than flesh but a decent bra sorts that out. You have to ask yourself how many people are going to see your naked boobs? I can wear a wider variety of clothes and show if my waist now. I’ve much more confidence now I’m a 34E rather than a 52 back!

Carrot cake baked oats

40g oats (HEB)
40ml almond milk, normal milk or a bit if yoghurt
15g dried fruit (2 syns)
Finely grated carrot
One egg
Sweetener or skinny syrup
Cinnamon, ginger, mixed spice to taste

Split into muffin tins and bake on 200 for 25 mins

Thanks for the recipe Flowers

Well done! Incredible achievement. Please may I follow you on insta too? I need all the motivation I can get.

fantasmasgoria1 · 18/07/2018 22:43

Amazing weight loss! You said you had loose skin, would you ever get it removed?

eeyoredebbie · 19/07/2018 09:19

Anyone is welcome to follow me on Insta my name is up above.

Regarding loose skin I doubt I will get it on the NHS and we’ve recently got a loan for house improvements so I doubt we would be able to go private. I’m also not sure about the recovery time and the pain but if someone offered to pay I probably would go for it.

But I must stress that loose skin is not a major concern. Having my life back, being able to shop for clothes anywhere, having more confidence,
Iiving a healthy lifestyle, having a good figure when dressed are all more important to me.

Well done on your weight loss! You look great now.
My question is about maintaining, why do you think so many people struggle with this even after losing a lot of weight, and how do you intend to avoid that happening yourself?

I can’t speak for others but I would think it’s very easy to slip back into old habits when you dont have the “buzz” of losing weight and also to stop tracking, counting, weighing etc and think that bit won’t matter. I intend to follow a miaintenance plan and allow treats on holiday etc. I’ve made a promise to myself there is no going back so as soon as I go up into next stone bracket for example I’ll g back to following to following the weight loss plan. There’s no great buzz than walking into a high street shop and buying a size 12 dress, when previously I would have been depressingly browsing plus size websites. No food gives you the same feeling.

Thanks for your reply and I'm sure you will manage to maintain longterm. Can I ask another question for a friend who does SW. She has a problem with overeating on the day she weighs in. She can't resist treating herself after her WI (it doesn't seem to matter if she loses or gains she still does it) and this often leads to a few more treats so that she has gone right off plan and sometimes has trouble stopping even on the following day. She always vows to stop doing this but ends up doing it again a few weeks later. Have you heard of people doing this and do you have any tips to help her stop.

ClarkWGriswold · 19/07/2018 15:14

Wow you look absolutely amazing!!

Can I ask, and forgive my ignorance, but do Slimming World still advocate the Green and Red days? If so what did you prefer to do to lose the weight. I never felt that SW would work for me because I have PCOS and can't have too much carby food (it would put weight on me as soon as look at it) but I don't think I could handle all the meat of a Red day. I realise I may just be really out of touch of SW though.

ScarletPower · 19/07/2018 18:28

Well done!! I'm someone who is stuck in a rut - I wish I could have some of your willpower.

Would you have considered gastric surgery? Were you ever offered referral for it?

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 19/07/2018 18:59

OP that’s amazing

To put it in perspective your bones carried a full sized man and you around and now they just carry you !

Do you feel lighter and did you have aches and pains before ?

Yes I’ve heard of people having treat night on weigh in day.

My tips would be ensure you are having syns through the week and not depriving yourself. There are quite a few packets of crisps and small Choc bars around the 5 syn mark. My days roughly work on 5 syns for sauces, gravy, sausages etc, and 10 syns for crisp and chocolate, I’ll have a piece of fruit in evening too.

Other tip would be to prepare evening meal before weigh in,even if it’s just pre cooking a SW meal in the oven. I will try to be syn free on weigh day until after and then have full 15 syns, so that’s when I might have some Halo Top ice cream. Sue may just need to get into a mindset that stepping off the scales means stepping onto a new week and not a black hole.

No there’s a new plan now called Extra Easy where lots of food including fruit and veg, lean meat, pasta, potatoes, fish etc are free foods and one third of your plate should be speed food (most fruit or veg) and that will help to naturally limit portion size.

When you’ve got the hang of that there is then Extra Easy SP where you can exclude the carbs.

Very basic explanation there but if anyone is interested in SW I would urge you to attend a group.

I did think about it but was put off at the thought of never being able to eat properly again. I haven’t visited a GP in years(apart from smear) so I’ve never been offered it.

Also I have a friend who had gastric surgery, lost five stone but has now put a lot back on and is now attending SW.
