Ask me anything, please no nasty comments about it!

OP posts:
justaddwa · 13/07/2018 13:25

I'm still learning, so I don't know about that it could just cause seizures but I'm sure remember hearing it can cause epilepsy I apologise and I'll look more into it! It's still all new to me.

people will frown upon it I even did at the beginning I thought what they did or even religious in general is ridiculous I haven converted but I'm learning for the sake of my partner and his family but as I'm reading and learning kind of make you realise a lot of stuff as to why they do things and why they are a Jehovah witness in the first place. It's better to learn and listen from someone who is a JW and not just from the internet or what you hear from someone else they aren't boring, they do follow the bible to a T but they do have a sense of humour they are kind and they always helped others within they would come together to and pay for someone's debts off if they someone struggling they would help pay towards a wedding etc if they have parties which they do every month so kids don't ever feel left out everyone contributes. They don't just do bible parties they do theme like Disney or under the sea , dinosaurs etc. They can drink alcohol but not getting drunk or pissed giddy yes but not drunk where you can't do anything as they do not agree to that.

They are just like everyone else but they have certain things they don't do.

Also with the bible many other religions have always removed and added stuff into the bible.

You know the Bible is a made up book? and everyone thinks they have the right version

Abitlost2015 · 13/07/2018 13:27

Will you stop celebrating birthdays?
What is the benefit of it?

justaddwa · 13/07/2018 13:27

@PerpetualStudent you don't have to be rude. And it's not a cult. Yes I understand they disown but it's because of certain circumstances they don't just disown for the sake of it I have seen a family member from his side that's been disowned and disfellowshipped which took a while for her to be disfellowshipped and disowned. Please don't state a fact on things you clearly don't know but from what you hear.

I think you ought to take your own advice OP, given some of the nonsense you've chosen to post about life saving blood transfusions.

But surely if blood transfusions caused seizures and epilepsy, it would be a major national crisis? The medical profession wouldn’t try to solve one problem by creating several more.

justaddwa · 13/07/2018 13:37

Yes I'm aware there is people believe there versions is the right but if you just looked into it you would understand there is proof and facts.

Also just explain to him I do not believe in the religion or nor do I want to be please could you stop knocking on the door they will leave.

The reason they post things and come across pushy is because everything that was written in the bible has come true for example at the end of the bible is states that Armageddon will come slowly through the years as time will come quickly and more earthquakes will happen more weather problems. The world we live in now is so messed up from people that all they want is people to understand and be safe. And to realise the world will end soon there isn't a set time or date but the world is slowly ending with all the global warming that's caused by us which has been stated in the bible which is why they stick to rules to not cause the world worse off problems.

The thing is I'm not a JW I've been learning although with what they say was always proven through scriptures and through facts! I grew up in a shitty home and abused by my mother I grew up in a shit life I still made it by going to school and collage being the best I can be as a person so I'm not naive and I'm certainly not stupid I've seen things not a lot of people have I'm not young or dumb because I've looked into things so please don't have an opinion when there's facts there that I'm still learning like I said that can proof anything you say! You may ask your self why are we here are we only meant to born to work and die? Well no we aren't we have a purpose as to why we are here. And I'm the bible it shows you that.

PickfordIsGod · 13/07/2018 13:37

Where exactly in the bible is the bit about blood transfusions, OP? Can you quote it?

KatieMarieJ · 13/07/2018 13:38

I strongly suggest you do some real reading about the history of the Bible. Not least the way the Watchtower has shoehorned in the name Jehovah where it wants, removed any trace of idea of Jesus being God (before Abraham was, I am versus I have been). There's a whole part of Revelation (I'll find the precise quote shortly) that the Watchtower conveniently ignore that proves their changes of Lord to Jehovah not Jesus as incorrect. The Watchtower also conveniently ignores the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Bibles too which have many more books than the Protestant (eg 1 and 2 Maccabees in the Catholic Bible, 1, 2, 3 and 4 Maccabees in the Eastern Orthodox).

I also strongly suggest you study more of their beliefs that Christ isn't our mediator, the lowly class who'll only inherit earth, Jesus is only mediator to the 144k.

I absolutely deny your assertion that disfellowshipping is an extreme event. It happens far too often for people living what most would consider normal lives. And don't forget the fact that those who are even your own family are not spoken to until they're back in good standing.

Don't even get me started on the memorial. Christ was very clear in His directions that if you wanted to have part of his sacrifice you had to partake of the bread and wine, and again every year the Watchtower has people around the world thumb their nose at the very same symbols.

What about the pyramidology and other occult practices from which Rutherford in particular grew the faith? Or the back pedalling after 1975 to Jesus have returned invisibly in 1914?

Don't go into this blind, educate yourself on both sides of the argument because all the WT will do is offer one sided information in the most didactic way with threats of being df'd if you begin to question and read other sources.

Finally if you aren't baptized and aren't publishing you categorically aren't included as Jehovah's Witness. That's the point. You make a public declaration and promise to Jehovah by being baptised and by publishing, that's how you become Jehovah's Witness, otherwise you're just another non-member.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 13/07/2018 13:39

Are you planning to have children with this man? If so, what do you plan to do about the possibility of haemorrhaging during birth

Reedrummond · 13/07/2018 13:39

I had to do a work project with a woman who kept banging on about being a witness .................... it was hours before I realised she hadn’t seen a car crash Blush

PickfordIsGod · 13/07/2018 13:39

Also did you know that JW's have predicted an apocalypse at least 5 times that hasn't occurred?

They just keep changing the date.

justaddwa · 13/07/2018 13:41

Well no offence if they disowned her then they age clearly shitty parents because my partners mother who has 2 kids who do not follow the religion hasn't disowned her kids and still see them and speak to them. Also I know some people in the congregation who also have kids who do not follow the religion still live in the same house as the parent who are JW so clearly the parents she had are nasty clearly really nasty.

OP posts:
Atlantea · 13/07/2018 13:41

Yes I'm aware there is people believe there versions is the right but if you just looked into it you would understand there is proof and facts.

there is no proof that the bible is the word of God - afterall, to believe in God you need to have faith, and with proof you there is no fatih

Atlantea · 13/07/2018 13:41

*faith

BeenThereDone · 13/07/2018 13:42

AltheaorDonna

That's what I was told too. Broken nose, black eye, covered in bruises... So no I would run a mile from ANY organisation that thinks that the abuse of women is Ok as long as you 'pray'...

luckycat007 · 13/07/2018 13:44

Is he the 'head of the household'? Is it depressing living with someone who thinks we are living in the times of the end?

But it is a cult? You’re not allowed to question anything but instead submit to the teachings, other Christian denominations are allowed to question and research and even worship along side each other but you are not.

Women are not allowed to teach and seen as subservient to men, the version of the bible that you use is taken way too literally with no room for negation.

And you can’t leave and live your life as it us now as no one including family members that are JWs can speak to you.

That’s leaving out the fact that child abuse is ‘just a sin’ and should be dealt with inside the church and needs witnesses for the child to be believed

Not something I would want to get involved with

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 13/07/2018 13:45

What handsoff said. I mean this sincerely: good luck.

justaddwa · 13/07/2018 13:45

they have never predicted a time and date of end of the world as they can't as it's not written in the bible. But what they do have is how it will start to end. I've always been told that it's near but they all say they don't know themselves when it will happen.

OP posts:
KatieMarieJ · 13/07/2018 13:46

Wow OP you really need to do some reading. They've been predicting the end of the world since they started with specific dates being given.

Raaaaaah · 13/07/2018 13:47

I want to ask about the possible ramifications of your partners faith on your family. If you had children together would you let him make decisions if they required a blood transfusion? Would it bother you that he might refuse one if he was ill? What would you do if you wanted children and were unable to conceive naturally? I have a friend who was a jehovahs witness and some of the decisions she made as a result were traumatic beyond comprehension.
